From the very beginning, the user interface has an intuitive layout which is very easy for a beginning business to use without payroll system experience.

Easy to set up an employee, salary or Hourly. Adjust their withholdings, and run direct deposit payroll. Extremely simple.

Also, the reports are comprehensive and their help section is awesome.

I have called multiple times on how to do something and they are the best with phone customer service. Especially as a new payroll software user, I did not know what many forms or reports did.

I also had a three-way call with Patriot, me, and my financial advisor on the proper setup of solo 401(k). That helped a ton. Now it is part of every paycheck.

Now over 2 years into the product, I would not switch and see how it can grow with my business. I have recommended it to others. It was recommended to me by a friend who no longer has her own business.

Patriot Payroll is so easy to use, you don't need much assistance from support. It is very user friendly, intuitive and can't beat the cost. We came over from ADP which had so many bells and whistles I was constantly having to call and ask for assistance which took a lot of time away from other responsibilities. This platform is so easy to use and customer support responds promptly. I also like that I didn't have to go through three forms of identification.

Patriot payroll does everything I need it to do for my clients - easy to use interface, connects to QBO, great price, and excellent customer service. I have had no issues whatsoever with them filing the necessary taxes (qquarterly tax filings). I've needed to reach out to customer service for a variety of things over the 3+ years that I've used them, and they are always speedy to reply, detailed in their response, and I love that I can email them about things. Patriot really has all the features I could wish for, but sometimes I've had to reach out to their customer service team to ask about a feature I want. To be clear: they've always had the features available (like very detailed break-out/QBO mapping of each employee's other money types, e.g. mapping each employee's housing allowance to a unique line item in QBO), but it wasn't obvious that it was offered until I asked for it and then it has to be "activated" for my client. It'd be nice if all their features were more easily viewed and I didn't have to reach out about it. This is hardly a complaint or gripe about Patriot though. I get what I need and want from them, but sometimes it just takes an email to get it. I sing their praises to anyone looking for a cost-effective payroll solution. Some of the functions, such as processing a holiday or vacation, are not intuitive. If you wish to make a change to the amount of time granted to someone, it is a pain. Also, if you are processing payroll for different types of employees, such as hourly employees and salaried employees, or if they are paid on a different schedule (monthly versus biweekly), you must use a drop down menu to pick the type of employee you are processing before you can see the applicable employees in the list. It is rather disconcerting, because for example, if your default setting is for biweekly employees, only those employees show and are able to be processed. You don't realize you have to drop down and go to a completely different screen to find and locate and process your monthly employees. It takes a while to find the option and realize it exists. The first time I put employees on two schedules I kept going around and around and around all of the options on the site, trying to figure out how to process the monthly employee, because I couldn't find them anywhere. It was a waste of more than an hour until i found I could switch from biweekly to monthly employees on the payroll processing. It was a waste of precious time and I was very frustrated it was not made clearer taht a drop down option existed or that I could simply click on an option for "process monthly employee payroll". For the price of 1 missed tax filing, I covered the costs for Patriot Payroll for the whole year. As a small business owner, I did my own payroll which included filing the state, local and federal taxes. Well, one time I missed making the quarterly filing and the penalty and interest was more than my subscription with Patriot. The system works smoothly a d as expected. Once linked to a bank account, the system explains exactly how much and when the money will disappear from your employer account. On the receive end, I was able to go through customer service and get 2 day funding rather than 4.
