They do not promptly solve the issue with fields being too short in version 12.05. Expanded them in the version 12.06. It shows that they don’t care about user satisfaction and are not dedicated to improving their software. **What do you dislike about Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting?** The software appears to be unreliable and unstable as it slows down after prolonged usage. Passport Business Solutions Accounting provides a disorganized accounting platform. Its worth noting that some essential features found in programs are missing from this software its important to consider if those functionalities are necessary for your requirements. **What problems is Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting solving and how is that benefiting you?** The transition from logs to software was helpful. The user interface needs to be more intuitive and user friendly. Training employees is relatively difficult. Fits a wide range of businesses, including CPS's, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers. Allows both graphical and character-based entry screens for all user requirements. SQL-based for easy reporting and data mining to Access, Excel and any other ODBC capable application. Designed for on-premise use, but can run on a cloud-based platform such as Microsoft Azure for global access. Best accounting software I have seen or used so far! Excellent support provided by local dealers nationwide, backed by central support operation that is available directly. **What do you dislike about Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting?** There really are not any components or features I do not like. I read a complaint about version 12.05 have fields that were too short, such as the email address field for contacts. These fields have been expanded in the version 12.06 released in 2018. **What problems is Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting solving and how is that benefiting you?** Ease of use, accurate accounting processes in multiple companies I have used it for, has proven itself to be reliable and efficient at managing and reporting on all of our accounting requirements. ### 5. It's pretty straight-forward and easy to get the hang of. **What do you dislike about Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting?** I dislike the inability to correct an invoice after it has been posted. Making a correction on an invoice involves issuing a credit memo and re-typing the entire invoice. It's a complicated and seems a bit unnecessary. I also do not like not being able to call the company directly for support. The rep our company works with charges a lot for his time and calling him to fix a minor issue ends up being very costly. **What problems is Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the big problems that was solved using PBS was transitioning from hand written accounting logs to an actual software. Information that used to be difficult to find is now easy and accessible to multiple people at once. ### 6. We like the familiarity and the general ease of use. The DOS-based interface makes operations like order entry and invoicing faster because it allows faster keying without the need for a mouse. **What do you dislike about Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting?** The reporting features are very limited, and there isn't enough customization of fields for data. There aren't even enough character spaces to put in most customer's full email addresses. The reports take a very long time to run, partially due to the fact that there isn't enough customization, so you can't exclude things you do not need. The DOS interface is basic, and the Windows interface lacks the speed required to enter orders at a quicker pace. **Recommendations to others considering Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting:** Definitely make sure that you do not need the extra features that most programs have that PBS seems to be missing. **What problems is Passport Business Solutions (PBS) Accounting solving and how is that benefiting you?** Passport handles all of our order entry, invoicing, inventory control and accounting. It is basically a "one stop shop" for our business needs. Even with its limitations, it is handy to have everything we need bundled into one program. **Official Response from John Miller:** > Dear Administrator, We appreciate that your PBS modules serve as a “one-stop shop” for your business needs, but it could be doing so much more with what is likely a simple update. We suspect from your description that your company is using an older version of our software, and that it is set to “classic” mode. This was a popular option a few years ago for companies transitioning from RealWorld Accounting Software. The graphical option, with its tabs and easy-to-use menu design really speeds up data entry and order processing work. A couple of versions ago, we expanded customer data fields and most other fields throughout the software to more standard dimensions. PBS SQL really speeds up reporting, even if you have years’ worth of data stored, and makes it easier to design more detailed reports, as well as allowing easier integration of PBS with other SQL-based applications.
