## passbolt Reviews
  ### 1. Passbolt Makes Secure Team Password Sharing Simple and Centralized

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ravindra N. | SDET - 2, Oil & Energy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

What I like most about Passbolt is its secure password sharing and team collaboration capabilities. Managing credentials across multiple applications, environments, and team members can be challenging, and Passbolt provides a centralized and secure way to handle that. Secure password sharing between team members without exposing credentials through chat or email. Role-based access control helps manage who can view or update credentials. Browser extension makes credential management quick and convenient. Password organization through folders and groups keeps access structured. Audit and activity tracking provide better visibility into credential usage.
The most valuable feature is secure team sharing. In QA, development, and operations workflows, multiple people often need access to shared accounts and environments. Passbolt allows us to manage those credentials securely while reducing the risk associated with storing passwords in spreadsheets, documents, or messaging platforms.
The biggest benefit is improved security and collaboration. Teams can access the credentials they need while maintaining proper access controls and reducing operational risk.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

The biggest challenge is usability for first-time users. Once the system is configured and teams are familiar with the workflow, it works well, but the onboarding experience could be smoother and more intuitive. These are relatively minor concerns. The security, access control, and secure password-sharing capabilities provide significant value, especially for teams that need to manage credentials across multiple environments and applications.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Passbolt solves the problem of securely storing, managing, and sharing credentials across teams. Before using a dedicated password manager, credentials were often shared through spreadsheets, emails, or chat applications, which created security and access-control challenges. Centralizes password management in a secure location. Eliminates insecure methods of sharing credentials. Provides controlled access to passwords based on user roles and permissions. Makes onboarding and offboarding team members much easier. Improves visibility into who has access to critical accounts and environments.
In my day-to-day work, we manage credentials for multiple applications, databases, testing environments, and cloud services. Passbolt ensures that team members can access the credentials they need without exposing sensitive information unnecessarily. The biggest benefit is improved security and operational efficiency. Instead of searching for credentials or requesting access repeatedly, authorized users can securely access shared passwords when needed, while maintaining proper governance and auditability.

  ### 4. Best vault for saving your credentials !!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asim A. | Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2023

The best part of the passbolt is that we can save all our credentials on it and we can access it online via browser. Each password is encrypted which is totaly safe to keep your credentials away from all threats.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

The thing I dont like about passbolt is that I am not able to login the application on any other browser if I have logged on one browser. User will need to setup its passbolt again on other browser.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the passbolt helps alot, I do not need to remember all my credentials passbolt remebers them all and i am able to share my credentials with any one by just simply clicking on the share button. I am able to export or import all my credentials with just one click.

  ### 5. Passbolt is a must have tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg S. | Senior Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

When looking for a password sharing solution in our environment, we came across Passbolt. After running a trial, we determined that this suited our needs well. Passbolt makes it easy to share passwords and other information either by user or by group. Setting up new users is also done with ease.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

While built on Linux, I feel that an OVA deployment would be a much simpler deployment solution for those getting started, especially those who may not be well versed in Linux deployments.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing passwords securely between teammates and departments is a must. Being in infrastructure, there are multiple occasions where we have requests to create managed service accounts. Being able to share these credentials with other teammates is crucial. Compared to how things were handled before having a dedicated password manager? I am not real sure how we even survived!

  ### 6. Phenomenal Free Password Manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitchell V. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2022

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

Passbolt costs 0 dollars and can do what most of the basic paid solutions are capable of. You also receive peace of mind with an on-premise solution vs. a cloud solution.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

Although the developers continue to update the solution, it falls short with a few basic features. Account delegation, recovery, and creation could all be revamped. We have since moved on from Passbolt, but I do believe there were plenty of features on the roadmap that would have made the product substantially better.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized credential management. Passbolt allowed our users to randomize passwords and store information securely.

  ### 7. Excellent tool to manage your passwords and keep them safe

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2020

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

Easy of use and the Chrome extension. Great tool for teams as you can create groups of keys and add people to those groups. Easy to share between team members

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

Lacks a high-level view by team and individual which often compromises finding quickly the right information. The organization of the information in the web app. Occasionally the excessive validation of the user.

**Recommendations to others considering passbolt:**

nothing to add

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping long and difficult passwords to memorize safe.
Sharing passwords with a team

  ### 8. Administer and manage confidential credentials has never been so easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul M. | Senior Security Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

I had been looking for a long time for a web-based software or a web app capable of, supporting multi-user sharing and HTTPS access, storing and sharing passwords and credentials related to logins on sites, services, devices, mailboxes, and so on. With Passbolt, installed for free and configured in a few steps on an Ubuntu Linux 18.04 machine, I can manage the credentials belonging to the users and teams of my company in an optimal, professional, and secure way. It is really fast in storing, secure in login through the browser extension, and the auto-fill feature allows for automatic login, enabling me to have long passwords that are hard to remember but safe to use.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

A single user can be used by only one PC due to the Chrome and Firefox extension that authenticates the user and allows the session via OpenPGP. Unfortunately, I find it limiting to have to create multiple users belonging to the same person in order to support the use of Passbolt and the viewing of passwords from multiple devices (e.g., laptop and desktop PC or laptop and smartphone).

**Recommendations to others considering passbolt:**

I advise configuring all the options regarding the backup and secure storage of the database containing the passwords and private keys used for encryption right from the start. Without these requirements, it will be impossible to recover the credentials in case of disaster or accidental loss.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have provided in a simple and cost-free way, as well as in high reliability mode, secure access to an internal password manager exposed only on the LAN to prevent users from saving their credentials on risky devices or worse on paper sheets or various notes shared by hand. This has allowed for an increase in internal security and the culture of security and confidentiality among employees and colleagues.

  ### 9. Great software to manage passwords

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2020

It is very easy to use and simple but still does the job.

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

Sometimes the search feature does not function properly.

**Recommendations to others considering passbolt:**

It's a great tool, very easy to use.

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to manage security and passwords, sharing with specific people.

  ### 10. Best openPGP password storage tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maurizio C. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about passbolt?**

Easy deployment even on virtualized environment and powerful sharing with users/teams features

**What do you dislike about passbolt?**

It can't be used on mobile devices because is not possible to download and install on Firefox or Chrome mobile the required passbolt extension to sign-in

**What problems is passbolt solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Migrate all password from keypass on local machine (with no backup capabilities) to cloud environment
