Paraspeech is an offline speech-to-text application for macOS that runs entirely on the local machine. All audio processing and LLM-based post-processing happens on device; no audio or transcript data is sent to external servers. The software is developed in Germany and is built with data privacy as a strict requirement.
In addition to transcription, Paraspeech includes on-device post-processing for rewriting, structuring, and cleanup. Output can be customized using templates that are configurable per application. The tool supports both live dictation and file-based transcription for existing audio recordings and works system-wide with any macOS app.
Paraspeech can be operated fully offline for maximum privacy. After the initial model download, no constant network connection is required, and the application can run without internet access.
The application is lightweight, typically using under 200 MB of RAM, and is optimized for Apple Silicon. It remains idle in the background and only uses CPU or GPU resources during transcription or post-processing.
Paraspeech is used by developers, founders, and other professionals who need predictable performance, local processing, and full control over their data.
