The email notifications system primarily needs improvement, the feature is one of the most essential but it still lacks to fulfil requirement. The notification only provides that the document is just viewed but it needs to provide more detailed information about the analytics of the view. It still needs a platform login for such details. We used to request founders to share links with drop box or google earlier on, but we switched to Papermark now. In investor relations, document security and the access control are key in how we do things and Papermark does a great job here. What stands out is how easily I can embed charts, links, founder decks, and collaborative comments all in one place. It feels like Notion and Google Docs is together, but that’s totally built with a VC use case in mind. Uploads can occasionally stall if the entire team is working on the same room at the same time during simultaneous uploads. The document viewing experience on mobile is not on par with the web interface, the web interface is very simple and offers a professional view for our documents. I manage our ESG reporting with portfolio companies to gather the data. Papermark lets me manage everything from our companies and easily share those files with the LPs. We frequently use excel and such I wish there were a smooth integration with both excel and google sheets, since many of our ESG documents and templates are of spreadsheets. The ease of use, SEO capabilities, and the overall dataroom tracking (and filtering capabilities therein). Compared to the standard go-to dataroom/document sharing platforms, Papermark isn't overpriced and covers most (if not all and more) of what the competition does, without costing an arm and a leg in the process.

The main issue we faced early on was document ingestion and processing for larger files, e.g., PDF decks, which sometimes even got stuck and didn't finish without getting help from the Papermark team.

Papermark’s cloud sharing tool with the data room makes it perfect for keeping our entire deal flow in cloud. It has great access control and separate room creations which allows multiple team members to work at the same time. They need to make link duplication for inbound links instead of republishing it. We currently download cloud links from other platforms and then upload it to our Papermark room which makes it difficult for processing daily incoming deals. Papermark looks great and it really has a straight forward interface. Since the tool is open source, we host it inside our firm. It provides more ownership and allows us to handle both our internal and external document transfer securely. It also integrates well with our MFT keeping the data in sync with our backups. It is great that Papermark has email notification, but it needs some more work.
