## Pantheon Reviews
  ### 1. Hands Down the best Drupal and Wordpress hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | Lead Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The platform is setup in a way that just makes sense; it's easy to use and simply works right the first time. The documentation and support are second to none. And the training is top-notch!

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The pricing can be hard to sell to lower-end clients, and not everyone understands what hosting is and why hosting companies differ so greatly in price

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous integration, automatic back ups and a streamline workflow are the most important features for and successful deployment

  ### 2. Great Platform for Agencies, Businesses and Developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon has one of the few WordPress SaaS offerings. The best features are multi-dev support, integrated git handling, backups, and taking the maintenance out of the picture from managing a typical WordPress site. Their customer service is responsive; we've encountered no downtime thus far.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Pantheon user access levels can be problematic. If you are an agency, having a customer specify the billing. The system will want you to transfer the account, thus changing the billing practices. You can get around this by working with customer service. As a developer, the second aspect is the ability to utilize a 3rd party git hosting would be ideal such as the use of GitHub vs. their internal system.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you do have multiple sites, consider getting an agency plan.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main issue is keeping WordPress and the server it would have run in updated. With Pantheon, we no longer need to think about this. It provides significant cost savings in terms of our people and staff time.

  ### 3. A geralyn, walrulicious and bombdiggity WebOps Platform that any organization needs to implement.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

There is absolutely nothing that hinders me from building and hosting websites with Pantheon. It's worth having and meets all my needs.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon is very convenient tool for publishing and managing web contents.
Helps to automate and streamline web development process.
Enhance continuous integration with other softwares.

  ### 4. Excellent Server Speeds! Lightning Fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael J. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Honestly the best part about Pantheon for me are the server speeds! They are so fast that all my web content loads at lightning fast speeds. I am a graphic designer so I want to present my work in the highest quality possible with no load times. Pantheon makes this possible.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I can't think of anything. Everything works pretty good for what I need it for

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

High resolution images load instantly

  ### 5. No downtime, great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley L. | Digital Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Our websites never go down. EVER. We've been with Pantheon for over a year. We host 150 websites, and they NEVER GO DOWN. This is amazing because we've worked with InMotion Hosting and other standard cPanel, dedicated server environments in the past, and we always had issues. We don't have a "developer" on our team, so we looked for a hosting solution that would provide us with hands-off "development." We're able to design on Wordpress and leave the tricky stuff up to Pantheon. Because Pantheon is set up in a dev, test, live environment, code changes can never be made to the live site. Gamechanger for our team.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

We're not able to pay with a credit card automatically. Instead, we have to reach out to get a unique payment link for a direct wire transfer. We've set up arrangements to pay twice a year, so it's not that big of an issue.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use to spend a lot of time fixing websites. Often a website would get updated, either the plugin or theme, crashing the rest of the website, and sometimes even the entire server. Our developer at the time didn't have a great way to minimize this, and we weren't in a dev-test-live environment. Pantheon changed that for us.

  ### 6. Great Hosting, Great Company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin J. M. | Founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon has always been reliable, and that's saying something when you're responsible for hosting a website with a lot of traffic! The test and live sites are easy to access and manipulate, which is awesome. And the cost is excellent! Updates are suggested in the stream which makes it easy for us to push those in the dev environment and then go live. We've never had an issue with Pantheon, and I am ever so grateful for that!

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I think if you're unfamiliar with development, you may find the back end not easy to navigate. I think Pantheon could create hovering guides for users who are less familiar with web hosting, updates, and development.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon allows us to host our site easily, and for my organization, the cost is great. In the nonprofit space, you really have to pay attention to budget. We also have a very small team that works with our website in-house, and Pantheon makes it very easy for us to stay on top of updates, back ups, and any issues Pantheon should flag for us. The ease of use is important for our own bandwidth.

  ### 7. Excellent for developers!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David G. | Web Developer & Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The support, documentation, and tools are all geared towards developers and technical users. Drupal hosting and maintenance is absolutely wonderful.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The user roles and permissions are not as granular as I would like. You can't grant specific usage or permission for specific sites within your organization.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't ever think about server maintenance, CMS updates are as easy as a click of a button, and environment backup and restore is simple.

  ### 8. Managed WordPress Hosting at a Price

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe H. | Senior Consultant, Digital, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

We decided to go with Pantheon over a few other managed WordPress hosting providers due to great reviews from our agency partner. We switched from AWS to a managed service because we didn't want the stress of server maintenance and optimization. Pantheon does it all.

We love the pre-made dev and test environments. And the managed updates service is just one less thing to worry about.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Price was a big punch in the stomach for us. We expected a higher cost, but as a mid-size non-profit, the annual fee for hosting was high enough that it caused some co-workers to start Googling other options, of course, without context. We're hoping that we'll be able to see a payoff due to less resource time spent on server optmizations and updates, and less time spent on core and module updates. We're still not sure yet how to quantify the speed increase that we've seen by switching to Pantheon.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Thoroughly review their plan options and consider which level fits your needs. Also, discuss their support levels and understand your level of technical knowledge to solve problems vs. the need to get help.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before switching to Pantheon, we hosted on AWS. While the uptime was excellent on AWS, the cost to maintain and optimize for a mid-size non-profit was too much. We decided to go with Pantheon as a managed hosting provider not to have to deal with server maintenance and security. We added on managed updates, which combined, we're hoping to see less time spent by our developers on backend tasks and more time spent on improvements to our website.

  ### 9. incredible customer service, clean intuitive UX

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah H. | Graduate student researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The customer support is prompt, clear, and patient. Their documentation is also crystal clear but sometimes a little too high-level for someone like me who is new to dev. When that is the case, I'm always able to get someone to walk me through the steps within five minutes of launching the chat. I could not have completed my latest project without it.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

For someone like me who is new to dev, I think it is a little bit TOO clean. It would be nice for there to be a little bit of help text with each of the buttons, etc. But I do enjoy how clean the interface is and I imagine that for someone with more experience, that this uncluttered UX is heavenly!

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Definitely go with Pantheon -- their customer service is prompt, friendly, and goes beyond what is expected to help you with your problem. I've always had responses with their customer service chat within minutes of sending my first message.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a grad student creating a robust website with a research center. I only have design experience, so I am new to development. But between the support on Pantheon and other web tutorials, I have been able to get this far!

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for your feedback, Sarah. It's good to hear that you're appreciating the quality of our support team and how clean our user interface is. Is it too clean? We'll work on adding some contextual help in the future.

  ### 10. Best-In-Class Drupal & WordPress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony K. | Senior Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon's chat support is quick to respond whenever there are issues, and they are very knowledgeable about their platform, as well as general Drupal and WordPress issues that come up from time to time. We have a representative helping us get all of our client sites moved over to the new Advanced Global CDN. He's been very helpful with organizing the sites and letting us know what steps we need to take, as well as helping us out with the reporting dashboard. I feel like our account representative is receptive to any concerns we have and they work with us to come to a solution that's beneficial for everyone.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

There are a few platform considerations you have to account for when choosing to host on Pantheon that can make things a little complicated, but we've found workarounds for almost everything. The biggest concern I have currently is the outdated Solr server version available on the platform, but I know that they are actively working on a solution.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Top Floor is a marketing agency that also builds websites for our clients and hosts them on Pantheon. Pantheon takes all of the server management work out of our hands, so we don't have to worry about things like server maintenance, uptime, security, etc. One significant benefit is that the Pantheon platform receives patches for any Drupal security advisories before the advisories are released. Because of this, our sites are safe from attacks, even if we're not able to patch the individual websites right away.

  ### 11. Pantheon makes it possible for me to focus on my code, and not on servers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erik P. | Web Engineer, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

My favorite feature of Pantheon is the Multidev environments and the fact that we can easily create one from a Git branch. It allows us to iterate on new features while leaving the main branch free for continued updates and patches.

While our database is gigantic and can take a while to import into the new branch, having the ability to do our "cutting edge" work is such a relief. It lets me utilize an isolated environment, so I'm not worried about whether we'll have to undo database changes or create other conflicts when working on a feature that requires review and sign-off from stakeholders.

Our ability to scale up to more virtual hardware has played a huge part in allowing us to handle traffic events.

In addition, their support team is always very responsive, and has been like an added team member when things go wrong that we don't have control over.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

If I had to nitpick one thing about Pantheon, it would be the occasional failure of upstream merges to fail without much of an explanation other than "an error occurred." I love our ability to apply core updates automatically when Drupal is updated in the Upstream repo, but every now and then, we still need to merge manually.

It would also be better if we could spin up additional hardware ourselves, or if the application containers scaled up automatically somehow, rather than requiring us to submit a Support ticket - something I wasn't aware that we needed to do in order to add more capacity.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I recommend Pantheon as they remove the barriers to writing higher quality code, especially in high-traffic environments where scaling is critical.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems we're solving with Pantheon are the ones revolving around infrastructure maintenance. I'm admittedly not a server person; my least favorite part of developing web applications was always having to fuss with .htaccess files and Apache configurations. Pantheon takes that off my plate, and lets me focus on the important part of my work: writing the application.

  ### 12. Pantheon provides reliable & fast hosting for the complex & high traffic sites I build and support.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Duran G. | Strategic Partner, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The pantheon DEV to TEST to PROD workflow.
This functionality saves me countless time in the development and system administration work required in a modern web development process.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Technical customer service at times can be challenging to deal with - but I do not personally have any elite plans on my account (customers of mine do). Elite customer service is fantastic.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Don't hesitate, do it.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon provides the best hosting platform for Drupal I know of. It solves ALL of the concerns I have about managing servers and handling infrastructure. Before I knew of pantheon I lost sleep over the fear of server downtime and the work involved to protect and prepare for that eventuality.

Pantheon solved this. By providing a viable, robust and reliable managed hosting platform with a powerful developer focused deployment workflow I'm able to build sites faster, safer and with more flexibility then ever before.

Bottom line, I do not worry about the server side of the project any more. ever.

  ### 13. Pantheon is a Truly Enlightened Partner in the Web Agency Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Johann D. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Everything: truly ubiquitous ability, power, accessibility, and support.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I dislike that my competition has full access to all of these components, capabilities, and resources; but, I guess that is the core of open-source.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scope and scale. With Pantheon, I am able to replace both SysAdmin and DevOps roles that would otherwise require staffing and an imperfect effort toward maintaining relevance.

  ### 14. Great Tool for Your Content

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samson O. | Website Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

What I like best about Pantheon is how easy it is to customize your template. It also makes it easy to utilize archiving and retention features to help manage and curate your contents. It is a tool we use throughout the entire lifecycle of our publications. It is useful from idea mapping to content creation and then publishing

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I have not experienced any downsides so far. I have enjoyed using it

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

It is simply worth it. It simplifies web hosting and content publishing

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With a few clicks, it is possible to publish content on the web with Pantheon. It is also easy to collaborate and share resources with colleagues when using Pantheon.

  ### 15. Excellent provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler S. | Senior Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon gives us a seamless, collaborative process for our web development and deployment.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

While multi-dev and pulling is done easily within projects, being able to clone or migrate complete installs from one account to another would be a great feature to have.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Do you need a provider for easy consolidation of multiple client web projects? Do you have a few devs and need to provide a good environment for collaborative development? Look no further.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything we need, under one roof! The consistent reliability, intuitive UI, and helpful dev features make building and maintaining our WordPress sites a breeze.

  ### 16. Customer Support Done Right

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I want to work on my website content and styling. I do NOT want to deal with server issues or errors installing patches or continuously keeping up with the latest security changes to stop hackers from attacking my host. With Pantheon, I can focus on the things I like and leave the ugly tasks to them. I can trust them and that takes a lot of weight off my shoulders.

Also, they understand HOW people use their service and have intuitive features to match that. Example: if someone is opening the SSH login info window, they'll probably want the login name, etc. The environment makes it one click to copy that sort of info... including the entire SSH login string so you can just paste it in your client, or click a link to open it. That's a SUPER simple thing to set up, but most hosts don't care enough to do it.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

There are some settings / wordpress plugins that require edits to make them function. This can be difficult because of the security settings on Pantheon. They manage a lot of the install and update and security, and that means the environment is a little less flexible. That said, their support website has detailed solutions and workarounds that actually work, and the support team has always worked with me to make sure they work.

I do wish there was a better set of starter instructions for setting up remote access the first time. They have all the info there, but it's on multiple pages that aren't directly linked. Having one "Here's how to start your connection the first time" would be helpful. The support team walked me through it, and made it easy, but if it had been on the site, I wouldn't have had to go to them.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon helps us run a website that is secure and has constant uptime without requiring us to do all the grunt work of running a server.

  ### 17. A pretty dope, capable and experienced tool for building and launching gizoogle websites.

Platform has lots of restrictions in place which can be limiting, but also ensures it is stable and rock solid, so its both a pro and con

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 20. Pantheion.io hosting offers Platform as a Service with a good user interface and good support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wendy W. | Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I can do push button updates to my Drupal installation, migrate sites, set up site sandboxes, and move changes from dev to test to live in a convenient dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

It doesn't seem to be possible to have a three way consultation with me, pantheon support, and someone who is asking a question from another department -- lately there have been a lot of network verification and security questions that I find difficult to answer, and I need to go back and forth with Pantheon support - which is excellent, and then relay the messages to the managers of other teams here on-site.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I appreciate the technical support as I am the sole web developer in this company. The support team and account team are top notch. This is a well-designed interface both visually and technically. It has made it much easier to create and maintain a website in Drupal and keep it compliant with changing security needs.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Wendy. Thank you so much for the positive review! I can imagine how important efficiency must be for you as a sole developer at your company. That's why I'm glad to hear that our technical support has really been providing value. I will also forward your feedback on three-way consultations, as we are all about empowering everyone on the team to collaborate. Cheers!

  ### 21. Pantheon DEVOPS solved

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Simple to use, and it works. I could set up a multi-environment server setup with simple one-click deployments.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Nothing to dislike about this service. Easy to use

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removed the need for a devops team, and allowed e to get on with my work.

  ### 22. Trustable Development Platform, servers never go down

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ram Kumar S. | Software Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

It offers an excellent workflow for all our websites. The commendable part, as in the title, is that our servers never go down, which is the crucial part, especially during product launches and during the closing time of each month. Moreover, it helps us manage all the records of site visits, alarms us if our website seems insecure, alerts us about changing the passwords and whatnot. It ensures total security as well as ease for the support team too as the websites seem easy to manage now. It has also helped to boost the overall speed of the website and deploying new things and features into the pipeline. So overall, a fantastic product

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Good things come with a price, this seems a bit expensive for us now, and we may have to shift to alternate solutions if our sales don't compensate for the investment. Talking on the technical side, they should provide some extra tutorials as we feel we are losing out on a couple of exciting features which we read through blogs but couldn't really deploy for our products. So, we expect some more support from the staff team.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Please research before buying, not that helpful for a short organization.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Regardless of the costs, it's really beneficial for us and has drawn customers to use our websites for raising tickets for their services, which has made our work a lot more easier. So it can be of a great use, if one knows how to use all of the features exactly.

  ### 23. Pantheon is a great company to work with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eva D. | Web Services Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

We have been so happy with the customer service. Our account manager is very responsive, and we also have received great advice through the Pantheon Slack channel.
The platform itself is very easy to work with and provides https certs on the fly.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Honestly, we rarely hit any issues with the platform. Periodically, there has been some slowness on the dashboard but that does not affect our live sites.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can host 160 sites through Pantheon and keep our costs at a reasonable level.
Having the platform set up for us relieves the burden of our web ops developer so he can focus on other aspects of our sites.
The dev, test, live and multidev environments make testing new functionality and pushing changes very easy.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Eva!

  ### 24. Advanced Web Development Environment

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon is really an advanced product and is definitely one of the best in the market right now. There are other hosting services available in the market for a long time, but this one comes with pre-made development environments, making this one of the most helpful. Moreover, the customer support is quite generous and always makes sure that the company doesn't face any down servers or some other bug, especially at the launch of new products. Moreover, the dashboard features are quite active and provide some extraordinary experience. The documentation is quite useful and so the advanced features come handy

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The pricing plans aren't really affordable. However, the features are pretty worth the deal, but still not an ideal scenario for some startup or some small organization, so some sort of plans for them can be really helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I will recommend this to anyone who has the initial funding or can take loans. Another option is to wait for them to release some suitable plans.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to upgrade the user experience and services we provide to our customers. It is advantageous as well as scalable for us. It really gives a classy experience.

  ### 25. One Stop CMS development company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Warehousing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

- I like that they have categorized the services based on Individual, company, and some agency manner.
- They provide not only web hosting services but also, provide backend support.
- They provide Software Solutions and web development solutions.
- API integration allows the integration of web sources, apps, and the cloud altogether.
- Assistance with Cache optimization and Cloud integration.
- AutoPilot option to automatically update Drupal and WordPress.
-Distinguish between good and bad source code by the support team and fix any error that occurred.
- CDN optimization allows websites to load at a faster rate with minimal overload on the server.
- Automated Backups to store and restore any data that gets corrupted.
- Features based on plans purchased.
- SEO integration.
- Provide access to be searched on the Search Engine and integrate search with other webpages.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

- The prices are very high, expected based on plans but would need strategic pricing to gain more customers.
- It has difficult FAQs and metrics.
- Lacking on support may need to educate more on customer requirements and understanding.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Yes, for web-based, Application-based, and cloud computing along with API integration I say this is the best and optimal solution but regardless the pricing must be negotiable.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Product webpages.
- Online Shopping sites.
- Marketing Software products.
- API server for the application.
- Cloud Computing.
- Data Sharing and mining.
- Provide services to customers with resources and product purchase pages with more detailed and logical descriptions and necessary links.
- DevOps development and research.

  ### 26. Great Hosting experience, nothing to worry about

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gopal H. | Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

It feels like your own dream hosting websites! It is one of those products which were launched after sufficient RnD and homework, as I think. We never had to take the stress to when we are supposed to launch products which are pretty crucial for our growth as the servers never go down and everything is managed quite smoothly by the product. Testing is way easier than any other service provider, and so it makes things relatively easy for the back-end team too. Even their support services are pretty friendly and help us understand the features, thus helping us manage things without charging any extra fee. Just a good knowledge of UX, and there you go. Truly a fantastic experience.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Nothing much to mention here; you can't directly go with it on the first day of your work. You need someone to make you understand things personally as the documentation, though being crystal clear can make things sad for a newbie. However, once set, it can save a lot of time and boost efficiency.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

One can do a prior course in UX as it requires intermediate knowledge

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to host our websites, and we are still in the trial phase of incorporating our partner websites which currently run on AWS servers. The benefits are immense; I mentioned that it saves a lot of time, and the servers never go down. So I feel one is good to go.

  ### 27. Pantheon performs better than I ever expected.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew B. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon prioritizes customer service, security, and optimized site speed over everything else. If you want top tier customer support from your hosting platform, Pantheon is definitely the company to pick.

I always enjoy the fact that I know I can consult Pantheon and if they don't have the answer, they will themselves consult and email the answer. They also periodically check up on every ticket open, so they don't neglect you as a customer no matter what.

Pantheon really is the best platform out there. I use it for all clients that I can and have always been very pleased.

Pantheon also integrates with Git and is extremely friendly with it. I love how it is built into the system. Their Dev > Test > Live is also extremely wonderful and the test environment gives you a snap shot of features you changed or added while also showing the results in a locked down environment.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Price can be steep, especially for smaller sites / clients where all the bells and whistles aren't needed. Sometimes tier 1 needs to consult tier 2, which can take more time (this is normal though...) Also, Windows and terminus do not always get along well. That is possibly my biggest gripe personally, is I wish they would have more solutions for Terminus and Windows... But I did eventually get it figured out with their customer support.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

I implore you to give them a test trial! You will never want to host or work with any other provider. Ever single dime is worth it so much.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security - I came to realize locking down a live environment is both practical and safe. Site Speed and analysis with Redis.

  ### 28. I love using Pantheon for work!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando A. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I like the convenience of the webpage-based dashboard mostly. Limited functionality compared to using Git on a command-line, but sufficient for most purposes.

Having multiple projects accessible from the organization dashboard makes keeping track of multiple ongoing projects pretty painless, versus manually-organizing everything.

The ability to have client-owned Pantheon projects show up under your own organization's dashboard is a big time-saver. No more project folder-hunting!

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

1. Nil support for devs/users that need to work from Windoze boxes. (working from Win10 does not make me a non-developer lol)

2. Hope that the service eventually become truly OS-agnostic.

3. Compatibility issues with some (currently) de facto industry-standard WP plugins, themes, and basically any bit of code that tries to create and maintain their own cache files.

4. Having a web dashboard section for creating shortcut references without requiring the use of the bash would be great.

5. Inability to add custom tags to manually-created backups. This would be great for when one needs to pinpoint which backup is useful for things other than for disaster-recovery.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Ready-to-use DevOps process that enforces uniformity in version control, Backup functionality that can be set to automatic backups on preset frequencies. I use it for clients that don't mind migrating to the platform.

2. These 2 bits of functionality have saved me from the hassle of trying to enforce policies manually. Big time-saver.

3. Beyond these, I like the fact that updates for core files of WP are taken out of the control of the site admin dashboard. As well, the fact that code updates can be done only from the Dev version of a project ensures that clients with sticky fingers don't inadvertently sabotage their own sites!

4. Having multiple projects and keeping track of all of them is painless.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello Fernando, thank you for this thorough review! We really appreciate the feedback.

  ### 29. Assuming it fits your budget, Pantheon is compelling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris H. | Senior Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon can scale to a huge traffic volume with no significant technical challenge. The platform enforces best practices that can often otherwise be skipped by teams in a rush.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Pantheon provides a lot of value. Unfortunately users must pay for what they get. When Pantheon is in budget, we've never had a client regret the selection. For many clients however, Pantheon is simply too expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

In my experience, hosting should be approached as "What is the most we can budget for?" rather than "What is the least that will handle our site?" If your site's budget can support Pantheon, it provides compelling value.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting Drupal and WordPress sites at significant scale with a high degree of reliability. One site gets called out during the credits of a long running television show. When episodes air, the site gets hit with 50-100k visitors within a few minutes, repeating several times as different timezones view the episode. Pantheon handles these repeated short lived traffic spikes smoothly, which consistently took down the site on other hosts.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Chris. We're glad to hear that you are getting so much value from Pantheon. We also appreciate the feedback on pricing and strive to always provide more value to our customers.

  ### 30. Excellent service, tailored to the needs of developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean R. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I have used Pantheon for numerous projects of all sizes, nearly since their founding. The platform is well architected with developers in mind allowing for a wide range of specialized workflows, integration with CI, and the like. They also have an excellent community where developers can help each other with significant involvement from the Pantheon team themselves. They're actively engaged in the Drupal and Wordpress communities and are committed to providing great service in general and an excellent developer experience specifically.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Pantheon can be somewhat pricey, especially for smaller sites for nonprofits and the like. It's very hard to justify a $50/month hosting fee to a group who'll likely only very rarely have code updates to their site even though Pantheon is better than anyone else out there. Additionally, for smaller organizations like that, the development workflow can be burdensome and, without technical expertise on hand to manage, difficult to implement.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of the projects I work on involve multiple developers using git-flow or similar and some form of continuous integration. Pantheon supports this workflow very effectively, and the multidev feature in particular is a godsend on large, fast-moving projects.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Sean. Thanks a lot for the thorough review. I'm glad to hear that you're finding value in our platform. Given your expertise, this means a lot.

  ### 31. Enterprise Level Service, Support, and Reliability

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian C. | Senior Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The platform provides a ton of flexibility and features to support very active development teams across different CMSs with the established workflow as well as the ability to take advantage of multidevs. In general the support team is incredibly knowledgable and proactive when you are working with them on an issue.

Very high uptime on the platform as well.

The events that Pantheon hosts are very educational about the platform and best practices as well.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

If a support ticket is answered in one session that's great and is usually the case. If a support ticket can't be answered immediately it sometimes feels like the team can be slow to followup or they aren't familiar with the content of the original discussion, so you can end up repeating a problem when you reach out again.

Pantheon could also be more proactive in downtime and lag reporting on infrastructure issues.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem solved was in our ability to have numerous development environments concurrently active to review various features that were in development both internally and with clients. This also needed to tie into our CI/CD process'. Pantheons multidevs have been perfect for this.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Brian. Thank you for the positive review! We truly appreciate your feedback.

  ### 32. Fantastic platform to develop on

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ray H. | Digital Media Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Support is incredible. Integration with Lando is phenomenal. Having three separate development environments make it so much easier to make sure our live website stays up and running without the problems that developing on the fly can create. Having the ability to easily develop on a local server with Lando and push the changes to Pantheon make development time even faster.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Sometimes it would be nice to have a little looser controls on the live server. It can be difficult to develop anything on our server outside of the main Wordpress installation. We would also love to be able to host multiple wordpress installations on the same server. Also, developing sub domains is quite difficult.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you need a server that you can constantly tinker with, but you don't need it to be a stable, dependable server, Pantheon is not for you. If you are building a website that will have a lot of users and needs to be dependable and reliable, Pantheon is one of the best in the business.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are managing a website for a major media organization, and several smaller projects. The stability and performance of our websites have been second to none since moving to Pantheon. Prior to switching to Pantheon, we commonly developed new plugins and upgraded our existing plugins on our live server. This resulted in us occasionally having issues that caused problems for our users. Now, with Pantheon, we can resolve those issues long before our viewers would ever see them.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Thank you for the positive review, Ray. I will make sure to forward your feedback regarding the live server controls to the rest of our team.

  ### 33. Pantheon is pretty, pretty, pretty good

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark P. | development manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The support team is excellent! They are very helpful. When we needed their help they were very quick to respond to our support requests. They went above and beyond to ensure that our problems were resolved and even took steps to assist us directly as well as provide text feedback / answers to our questions.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I do not like the pricing structure which includes bot traffic. I believe this causes sites to be scaled up unnecessarily. We've noted that some of our sites get increased bot traffic during holidays and this traffic is being counted against our sites even though it's malicious bot traffic. This we believe shouldn't be held against customers. Instead it would be helpful to be able to discuss with the Pantheon team and have this bot traffic not counted against the total traffic on the site.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Give them a shot you won't regret it.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Pantheon for shared hosting.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hi there, Mark. First, we really appreciate your feedback. Second, thank you for the excellent rating of our support team. Now regarding bot traffic included in your billing, I can tell you that we do our best to ignore known bots and crawlers (think Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and a few others like SEMRush). The issue is that it has become extremely difficult with some bot traffic (the more unpopular ones) to determine what is legitimate and what is not. Ideally, you can look at your logs and determine if any traffic is likely not your targeted users and then block that traffic by IP. A more sophisticated method would be to use advanced CDN to block it at the edge. I invite you to click the link below and request to "chat with an expert" should you need assistance setting that up.

  ### 34. It has made my Drupal deployment environment and workflow much, much better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

As a developer, I love the live/test/dev/multi-dev environments coupled with auto-backups. My anxiety has reduced 100 fold now that I can try something out in dev and simply restore a backup if it doesn't work, and also that I can push changes out to test for user testing against live data before pushing up to production. On this topic, the other game-changer is Terminus. I have automated a lot of my deployment workflow by scripting with Terminus, and it's made my life much easier. The support team is also very helpful and responsive, and every experience I've had with them thus far has been positive.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

My only complaint about Pantheon is the time it has taken them to support Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 migrations, and the confusion surrounding deadlines for this rollout. But, the support is there now, and I look forward to testing it out in the coming weeks.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you are investing in Pantheon, my one piece of advice is to also invest in learning and implementing Terminus. It will make automation much easier.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can now test radical changes much more quickly, thanks to the multiple environments and the general deployment workflow. The benefit has been a lot of saved time and the general ability to develop and change more rapidly and with a higher degree of confidence.

  ### 35. Fantastic Full-Service Website Provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe C. | Strategic Web Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The in-browser platform is straightforward and easy to use, and customer service is incredibly friendly. My company is currently part of a pilot program and Pantheon is intent on making sure we have the smoothest and most productive experience.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Some recommendations they make require deep technical experience, so it can be tough to make significant performance improvements for a small or non-tech-savvy team. Price is a bit high as well, but they do provide a lot with that price tag.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon makes hosting, developing, and testing easy. Being able to keep our wordpress site updated so easily allows much more time for iteration and improvements to performance and content.

  ### 36. Great hosting company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Great professional work flow. Great for multiple team collaboration.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Workflow is sometimes "overkill" for certain projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Decide if you need a complete workflow like Pantheon. If so, it's the best in the business.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better business relationships? Easier collaboration.

  ### 37. Excellent Reliable System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Ability to have a three-tiered system to push updates and develop without interrupting the live site.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The billing system is complicated when managing multiple sites inside one organization. Different sites are paid for by different departments. Invoices do not indicate the domain/site billed and people inside the org become very confused about their invoices respectively.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you need professional hosting with a tiered development system then you cant do better than Pantheon. I have been using them for almost 10 years and I have no complaints. Best service, support, and system.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reason for moving to Pantheon was the three-tier development platform, site stability, security, and ability to prevent downtime. For the most part that has been very successful. Benefits have been a more stable platform on secure servers we do not need to manage as an organization. This has saved countless hours of development time.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, thank you for the positive review. I'm happy to hear that you're getting value from Pantheon's agile staging environments. We've also received your feedback on our billing system.

  ### 38. Good hosting platform but with some interesting quirks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Project Manager, UX, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I like how easy it is to make updates and test them as well as copying sites down for testing and development without having to touch the live site. Pantheon makes it really easy to deploy updates and making modifications to sites without having to worry that the live site may break.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I don't like that I run into issues with the dashboard not acknowledging that code has been deployed or logging me out seemingly at random while I'm logged into the dashboard. Often we will deploy a change to an environment, but the dashboard will only acknowledge it once we've cleared our browser cache and reloading the dashboard, sometimes multiple times.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily deploying new sites, copying live sites for development and testing, and keeping everything in segregated environments to prevent site breaking issues from making it to the live site.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Alex. Thank you for your feedback on the dashboard. This is very valuable. I'll make sure to forward that information to the appropriate team internally. We truly appreciate you taking the time to submit this overall positive review.

  ### 41. Pantheon helps with web hosting and version management.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill R. | Senior Manager, Web & Digital Strategy | Digital 360, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I love the multiple layers of protection between dev and production. It allows us to test in different environments and only launch when we're ready. +1 for a great Git integration.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The steps to undo changes on live can be confusing. Once you figure it out the process is fairly simple, but it wasn't intuitive when first learning it.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon has helped to free up my dev ops team by handling all dev ops issues for us. It has enabled us to focus our internal teams and more challenging problems while getting the support we need on keeping sites live.

  ### 42. Excellent Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henry M. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon is an extremely reliable hosting platform that makes all aspects of development simple. They provide excellent documentation for developers and their support team is extremely responsive and knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The only negative I can think of is that there is no eco-friendly hosting option.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Pantheon provides top-tier web hosting and developer support. It is hard to find a host as reliable as Pantheon, especially one that provides developers with all the necessary tools to build with.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building heavily trafficked websites with continuous integration tools.

  ### 43. Absolutely Terrible Support, Gutted Developer Access

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

The multidev environments are nice for large teams that need to stage changes for approval.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

The support is absolutely terrible. They've outsourced their support and they don't read anything you write. It eventually gets escalated to a ticket and goes ignored for a week only for them to blame the user after the long wait and close the ticket. They also don't allow direct access to cron or running commands locally on their servers (no SSH access) so they make you jump through hoops to use their janky Terminus app to accomplish anything remotely out of the norm.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

If you run cron jobs or need reliable support, pay the extra and go with Acquia.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting Drupal in the cloud but no real benefits other than not maintaining servers on our own.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello there,

I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a negative support experience. We'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the issues you faced with your sites. ### 44. Leading the way with WebOps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

They are a cutting-edge platform. Pantheon provides a great platform to help you keep your site up and running with little downtime. They have also been leading the way with WebOps.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I still haven't found a way to get automatic updates to work, and it's been a couple of years now.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We never need to worry about downtime and performance issues. We have been able to convert 3 sites to Drupal 8 in the sandbox environments. Since then, we have also been focusing more on smaller projects to improve our sites. We have found this to be a much more rewarding way to do things, and we owe it all to pantheons "Kill the website relaunch" philosophy and WebOps approach.

  ### 45. Excellent Platform - Room for Improvements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon offers a great platform for Drupal and WordPress hosting. Each installation provides three servers, development, test and production. Scheduled nightly backups and all container maintenance included in the price.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Their billing system leaves much to be desired. If you are running multiple sites it is impossible to discern from the invoice which sites belong to with line item. You have to get billing support involved. They claim they are working on this but it has been a year since they started making this claim.

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

Don't just shop price. Shop quality and features.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pantheon is our go-to provider for our Drupal and WordPress sites. We no longer have to maintain any servers, obtain any SSL certificates or concern ourselves with backup schedules. Flexible pricing plans make it an easy fit for most clients.

  ### 46. Pantheon Feedback!

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Consistent, reliable service that allows our developers to do the work they need to efficiently. Automated SSL certs, Terminus CLI tool and multi-dev are some of our favorite features.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

Things like SOLR and MariaDB versions are outdated, but that seems to be in the works!

**Recommendations to others considering Pantheon:**

In this day and age, it makes no sense to try and host your own Wordpress or Drupal site. Pantheon has this dialed.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Increased quality
- Speed
- Reliability
- Cost
- Workflow
- Offloading hosting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

I think the git integration is excellent and well maintained. i also think Pantheon has really good documentaiton

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

conflicts with plugins (espcially cache plugins) and some of the user interface could use improvement (like mobile app, workflow status being more visible). The new dashboard is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't feel like it addresses a lot of my UX issues

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

security and performance have been great, as well as git integration and branching. Scalability is another thing that pantheon does well.

  ### 48. An absolutely great hosting provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris C. | Web design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Pantheon?**

Pantheon makes managing a site super easy. They provide a development site, test site, and live site in all hosting packages. Their setup makes managing a site extremely easy. All three environments are accessible from their dashboard. Pantheon hosting also provides cache servers and Redis servers which really improved the performance of each site that is hosted with Pantheon. There is so much that you get with Pantheon hosting.

**What do you dislike about Pantheon?**

I have run into a few time-out issues with their hosting. There is also no ability to change the wait times.

**What problems is Pantheon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First, very fast website performance with their servers. Second, a nice dashboard to manage all sites. Third, nice additional features like Redis and cache servers that improve site performance for your site users.

**Official Response from Francois Nze:**

> Hello, Chris. Thank you so much for the positive review. We appreciate the feedback on wait times.
