  ### 4. Rock-Solid Hardware, but Software and Support Feel Bloated and Sales-Driven

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

If you have the budget and are willing to commit to their "Platformization" strategy (using them for network, cloud, and SOC), Palo Alto Networks delivers one of the most robust, high-performance security platforms available. That said, if you prefer a "best-of-breed" multi-vendor approach, the premium may be hard to justify given the high costs, added management complexity, and the integration friction you’re likely to run into.

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

Palo Alto Networks builds incredibly solid packet-filtering hardware, but their software, support, and modern "AI-driven" cloud consoles often feel rushed, bloated, and optimized for sales pitches rather than the daily grind of network security engineers.

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Palo Alto Networks is the Porsche of cybersecurity. It is incredibly fast, highly engineered, and loaded with cutting-edge tech like Precision AI—but it is expensive to buy, complex to drive, and costly to maintain. If you can afford the premium and commit to their platform, it is the safest bet in modern cybersecurity.

  ### 5. Robust Threat Prevention with Reliable Network Performance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Seep V. | Performance Marketing Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

The threat prevention capabilities are top-tier. Features like WildFire and the intrusion prevention system (IPS) give us peace of mind when it comes to zero-day threats. The fact that these security profiles run seamlessly without severely degrading our throughput performance is a massive plus. It has significantly improved our network's overall security posture

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

While the threat prevention features are excellent, the licensing structure is very expensive. Having to buy separate licenses for WildFire, URL filtering, and threat prevention quickly adds up and consumes a massive portion of our security budget. It would be much better if these core security features were bundled more affordably

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software successfully solves the problem of protecting our network against modern, evasive malware and zero-day ransomware. In the past, legacy firewalls couldn't keep up with encrypted malicious traffic. With Palo Alto, the benefit is clear: our security team spends significantly less time reacting to alerts and dealing with infected endpoints. It gives us a unified, automated defense line that prevents breaches before they can even spread.

  ### 6. Strong visibility and control with a learning curve

**Reviewed by:** Xianghua C. | Senior Technical Manager/DevSecOps, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

The strongest part is the combination of App-ID, User-ID, and threat prevention in a single policy framework. It provides detailed visibility into applications and users, and the management experience is consistent across security rules, logging, and investigation. Performance is generally predictable when security profiles are enabled, which makes it suitable for complex enterprise environments.

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

The platform has a meaningful learning curve, especially for teams new to application-based policy design. Licensing and subscriptions can be difficult to compare, and upgrades require careful planning because behavior changes may affect existing rules or integrations. Troubleshooting is powerful but sometimes involves moving between multiple views, so simpler guided diagnostics would improve day-to-day operations.

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps consolidate network access control, application visibility, threat prevention, and remote-site protection into a common operating model. The main benefit is faster policy review and incident investigation because traffic, users, applications, and security events can be correlated in one place. It also supports more consistent segmentation and reduces the operational risk of relying only on ports and IP addresses.

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro M. | Technical Services Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Cloud NGFW?**

Honestly, it’s super easy to set up. I expected a bunch of configs and headaches, but nope, just plug it in, follow the setup wizard, and you're good to go.
