Pages provides a platform where you can type, manipulate text, and store written information. You can also open some types of files with pages. I do like that Apple provided their own free alternative to Microsoft Word. For the most part I think it's compatible with Word if you need to edit a document you have. I wish there were more features similar to Microsoft Word, I'm used to their software when it comes to Word documents so if they could mirror and even improve what Word has I think this would increase their usership. " 1.5/5 What do you like best about Pages? I used to lover using pages but it seems that Apple just doesn't care anymore. When I first purchased my mac in 2008, Pages was my only document editor. It seems that Apple has given on up their document editing software and left that to Word. I like how pages is compatible with almost every type of file and format of media that you would like to incorporate within your document. We use it all the time for advertising purpose. It comes free with the iWork suite of apps and is a typical Apple-style consumer application. The templates are of good taste, which can not always be said from other alternatives. It integrates well with iPhoto and other Apple apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Pages? It is rather limited when trying to do something professional. Whenever you want to get beyond the basic templates, you get into its basic constraints. There is little to no control over styling, the way other DTP systems approach it. While this is to be expected for a consumer-oriented program, it often leads to less balanced design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Pages: It is clearly a simplified DTP program. A little easier to use and more consistent with the other Apple apps than e.g. Microsoft Publisher and the templates are of a higher level (if you stick to them). I tried initially to get used to the iLife and iWork suites of Apple, which were included when I bought my Macbook Pro, but I only kept using iPhoto (now replaced by Photos). The "professional" oriented applications showed too much hindrance if you want to tweak it into detail. Also implementing bigger changes takes too much effort. You can change any of your formatting like you would in Microsoft Word, but it is difficult to find these options. There should be a simpler layout of the formatting options.
