## PagerDuty Reviews
  ### 1. Tool that sends precise alerts for immediate action.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anya M. | Social Media Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2024

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Using PagerDuty gives me great satisfaction as I experience its ability to improve operational visibility and real-time collaboration. I am fascinated by the ease with which it optimizes communication between teams, allowing a proactive response to any unforeseen situation.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

At times, I feel like PagerDuty's customization could be more intuitive. Setting up alerts and adapting them to the specific needs of your team can be a somewhat complex process. However, once adjusted, the program demonstrates its effectiveness in incident management remarkably.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With PagerDuty, I have efficiently addressed challenges such as early identification of infrastructure issues and optimizing alert management. Benefits include improved decision-making, greater operational visibility and a substantial reduction in the impact of incidents, thereby supporting the stability and effectiveness of our operations.

  ### 2. Ok experience, could be more user friendly

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

The software is good, and integrations are good. But it's just one more product that I have to deal with. It's good for looking at things at a high view though, and it's as good as your data is.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Too time consuming inputting all the data. But good when effort is put in. The problem is, most people don't put the effort, including myself. I wonder if there's a way we can streamline it more.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us solve incident management issues, or rather tracking them, and using them to show trends in the types of issues we're facing on the daily. It's not a bad too for this.

**Official Response from Amanda MacLeod:**

> Hey there- thanks for your feedback. I am excited to share with you that we just released major updates to the UI/UX across our IR Bot and an updated onboarding flow with a sandbox environment in our incident analysis platform! You can read more about it in the blog post. If you haven't checked it out yet, I encourage you to explore Narrative Builder on the analysis side. Narrative Builder is like a Turbo Tax for building your incident timelines, guiding users through the parts and automating the process. We've found customers have gone from spending hours and days on building timelines to 20 minutes to an hour to build with Narrative Builder! Please let us know if we can do anything else in the meantime to make Jeli a 5-star experience for you!

  ### 3. 24 * 7 Monitoring tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piyush M. | engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Its way of sending alerts is from various methods like calls, mail and messages, ensuring alerts aren't missed. Its way of alert incident management is one of the best.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Not so much customisable interaction with JIRA. You have to keep an alert id to get alert history.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To auto-assign the alerts to the respective on-call person. Manage any incident timely, which helps system availability.

  ### 4. Used widely

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2023

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Use for incident reporting and response here. Nice UI

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Nothing too much to particularly dislike about it

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

place to respond to incidents and keep records

**Official Response from Amanda MacLeod:**

> Hi there! We're glad to hear you are so happy with our end-to-end incident management platform. We also just released updates to our UI across the incident response bot and the Jeli.io platform! Take a look! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help make your Jeli.io experience 5 stars!

  ### 5. PagerDuty for alert if service has downtime

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Avanish T. | Senior Software Developer Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2021

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Things that I like about PagerDuty are as follows:
- They way we can connect our applications and services.
- Easily integrate other applications in PagerDuty to raise alerts.
- Easily to create an account.
- Admin can easily switch members based on need and availability.
- The way they send alerts by email as well as by call, which can quickly help you to react.
- Multiple levels for support handling of the level 1 member don't acknowledge the alert will be sent to another level and so on.
- Easily configure alerts to members based on the time and region. Like if we have team members splitted in US and India, I can configure alerts based on the time the teams can look into it and solve them.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

There are very few things that I don't like about PagerDuty, which are as follows:
 - It is not easy to acknowledge the alert.
- Sometimes, call messages are not so evident in the call.
- The system voice in the call is not so easy to understand.

**Recommendations to others considering PagerDuty:**

Yes, I will like to recommend PagerDuty to my past organization that I had worked in also to my friends who can use it in their organization.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily use PageDuty to raise alerts for our projects and microservices.
We use various other applications that tracklogs for us, and then those applications are integrated into PagerDuty to raise alerts with calls or emails.

  ### 6. Promising, but frustrating

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2020

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

The general idea. The promise of workflow automation and decentralising/removing of silos. The ability to write java plugins to do specific things like custom steps and notifications is very useful. Adhoc executions and the somewhat generalised job options UI (with cascading options values) is very useful, but could be improved.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

It's slow both in the UI and in the server, and overall frustratingly buggy. Rundeck team recently closed all outstanding issues on GitHub irrespective as to whether or not they have been fixed (mostly not), suggesting upgrading to the latest version. However, every upgrade is a roller coaster of regressions and new frustrating problems, undocumented mandatory upgrade steps.

On the feature side, the lack of conditional statements for steps is frustrating (the Pro feature for this is IMO unusably complex and a massive maintenance trap), and the ability to store and use data generated by steps is frustratingly limited. Complex workflows need powerful tools, and rundeck struggles with complex workflows, workflow recovery and accurately reporting the reason for failures.

**Recommendations to others considering PagerDuty:**

If you have complex workflows, it might not be for you. For relatively simple stuff and with lower-skilled teams creating jobs from a UI - it's probably a good fit. Rundeck can be powerful and it can present a simple UI to a complex problem. You can very quickly get it to do tasks in a fairly intuitive way, but when it gets complex, it becomes unintuitive and difficult.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use rundeck to orchestrate deployment of huge proprietary financial trading software, from development systems through to (increasingly) production. Though of course, most of the complexity is in the scripts/tools themselves, and we have had to build UI and infrastructure around rundeck to make this feasible.

  ### 7. Powerful automation and control

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Rundeck has a super clean interface allowing us to get the work done we need without getting in the way. We were able to get things setup and running with very little effort on the part of our small team. As a startup this was invaluable to us, we rarely run into a product that is as easy to use as Rundeck. We truly believe that using Rundeck will allow our small operations team to handle the growing number of tasks ahead of them as our startup grows and moves towards a production launch! Thank you Rundeck.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Nothing comes to mind at this point, we will reach out to support if we have questions or suggestions on how to make the product better going forward.

**Recommendations to others considering PagerDuty:**

If you think your pile of scripts and home grown systems are working well, please give Rundeck a try. You will be amazed at what you were missing in automation and process that can streamline your business and day to day tasks.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rundeck has allowed us to automate processes which we taking us far too much time. We found more and more places to automate once we got started setting things up. Our ops team was spending so much time running manual processes and trying to document how everything was supposed to work, we can not believe how we used to do things.

  ### 8. Uneven experience

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2020

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Centralization for alerting and escalation policies

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Not possible to deduplicate alerts in order to avoid same notification twice and have a history

**Recommendations to others considering PagerDuty:**

Not very expensive for small teams so just lost some time, but can help in some case. Waiting for more features keeping at low cost for small teams like us.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Escalation policy and alerting with sms / mail etc...

  ### 9. Rundeck Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Features like running Ad-hoc commands, centralised management for scheduled jobs and logging user activity are making life easy. Integrations with Slack, Jira, Ansible are useful.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Scaling is big issue as need to always go for the vertical scaling. No guide to tune it and plan the capacity for job scheduling and debugging/troubleshooting issue is really difficult.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralised Scheduling of cron jobs and error handling. Enabling users to execute adhoc commands and compare the output from different instances. Also helps in auditing user activity on multiple stack of servers.

  ### 10. Good but can be better

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

UI is clear and user friendly
Easy to administrate

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

Cannot share elements between project
No global monitoring

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous deployment automation each day for testing teams

  ### 11. Overall not bad

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

It works as intended, sends messages and calls until it gets a response. The escalation strategy works and while it isn't the clearest web UI, it is possible to see a dashboard view.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The web UI can be confusing, and it alerts on recovery messages from our monitoring too (which may be an implementation issue more than a product one). The only other issue we had was setting up a user to be the financial person who owns the credit card info etc - that cannot be done via the web, it needs to be a phone call. For a company of its size, I would have expected a proper role for that.

**Recommendations to others considering PagerDuty:**

It works, it calls, messages etc. We have not used it beyond that functionality, but it works well and can be triggered easily by our data center monitoring.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

24/7 support calls for web services triggered by our monitoring.

  ### 12. It needs some improvements

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

It is light weighted and easy to run. It is good to automate tasks scripts etc

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

It's integration is not generalised like all other tools support is a big issue.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are automating cloud deployments

  ### 13. Has good potential

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

- single view for all the alerts
- Better visualization of ios app

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

- search is pretty bad. I can’t simply filter out all the alerts I received during previous oncall
- webUI is pretty bad

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- All incidents in one place

  ### 14. Integrated PagerDuty for escalated alerts

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephan D. | Service Delivery Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

ability to create escalation workflows and rules

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

integration with servicenow is not as configurable as we would like.it to be only limiting one service to one grojup in servicenow and not a many to many relationship

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On call and escalation for critical incidents
Faster resolution time

  ### 15. Pager duty integration process

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni M. | Senior Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

Pager duty has a very responsive integration process and a very active support team

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The integration process can be a bit confusing and the available documentation does not always provide straight forward information

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

High priority incident integration and assignment notification.

  ### 16. an okay tool for handling pager in your organization

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2019

**What do you like best about PagerDuty?**

The basic functionality of getting alerted, and the integration with slack etc.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The UI functionality. The analytics on incidents are often time-out.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UI improvements on scheduling, analytics, etc. are needed.

  ### 17. Useful service to escalate issues

Using it as a support tool for our teams. Easy collaboration

The alerts are quite easy to set up and the UI are fairly simple to understand. If not, the support is there and quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about PagerDuty?**

The alerts get a bit spammy and noisy, can’t seem to find the mute for the new alerts if we’re already aware of the issue, and instead we’ve received tons of new alerts and can only snooze the alerts that have already happened.

**What problems is PagerDuty solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spam, Fraud, and infra. Quick turnaround time

Pager Duty is so easy to integrate with the most popular languages. We were able to get it integrated with our codebase in no time.
