"PRTG Easy to Implement and Use"
5/5
What do you like best about Paessler PRTG?

We implemented Paessler PRTG in our production network to monitor our core and edge infrastructure, including Juniper MX routers, QFX switches, server infrastructure, and WAN circuits. We are using a mix of SNMP, NetFlow, and custom sensors to monitor interface utilization, BGP/OSPF status, CPU/memory, temperature, power supplies, and environmental sensors in our MDF/IDF locations.

Deployment was straightforward on a Windows Server VM, and adding devices via auto-discovery significantly reduced setup time. We’ve also built custom sensors for specific use cases, which has been very flexible. Updates have been smooth with no downtime issues, and the mobile app allows our team to receive alerts and acknowledge incidents while on call.

We did have one issue polling a Juniper MX router via SNMP due to configuration specifics, but Paessler support responded quickly, reviewed our logs, and helped us adjust the configuration so polling worked correctly. Overall, support has been responsive and knowledgeable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paessler PRTG?

There are no major complaints. As our environment grows, sensor count management and licensing tiers require some planning to ensure we stay within limits. However, this is more of a scaling consideration than a product issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Paessler PRTG?

I love how Paessler PRTG quickly shows exactly which switch port is having an issue, saving us hours we used to waste tracing cables. It's very user-friendly in terms of setup. I also appreciate monitoring everything on the same dashboard, which lets me combine data for multiple sensors effectively. Plus, I can track VPN performance effectively using Paessler PRTG. What do you like best about Paessler PRTG?

I find Paessler PRTG's single-point pane dashboard really useful for checking everything at once. Monitoring is very easy, which makes managing my sensors and servers straightforward. I also like the alerting feature because it reduces manual efforts by letting us set up alerts. The customizable dashboards are handy for checking specific things for servers. The user-friendly setup is another aspect I appreciate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best IT Monitoring Tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Paessler PRTG?

The best part for me is how PRTG quickly shows exactly which switch port is causing issues. Earlier, I wasted hours tracing cables.

I love the map feature — I built a live floor-plan of my office with traffic lights for each system. Management actually looks at it now instead of ignoring monitoring dashboards.

The “sensor factory” feature allowed me to combine data from multiple sensors into one view — I track our VPN performance this way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paessler PRTG?

When too many sensors are added at once, the system feels heavy and slows down notifications.

Upgrading versions sometimes resets custom maps, which is frustrating to rebuild.

The licensing count sometimes forces me to remove older sensors that I’d still like to keep for historical purposes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The desktop client is less useful compared to the web, and I wish they would make the desktop client the same as the web one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
