What do you like best about Paddle?
A nice widget design which they updated recently.
It is convenient that all payments are collected in one place and come to the company in one transfer.
No need to worry about taxes - which is incredibly convenient for working around the world.
Fast and nice customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Paddle?
We have been working with Paddle for over a year, but what did we expect from them? Payment system, Tax system, and Subscription management system. Unfortunately, the 3rd option is executed just terribly.
There is no option to unsubscribe at the end of the cycle and no option to change (downgrade) the plan at the end of the cycle. There is no way to implement "add-ons" other than to create another subscription plan. API events also leave much to be desired, for any change in the event we will receive an "update" event, and to understand what happened, we need to do dozens of ifs in the code.
Were it not for the widget changes, we would not have seen any changes and improvements. It seems that their entire R&D team is a couple of developers.
The customer support is fast and nice, but unhelpful lately as the quality has dropped a lot. We receive complaints from both employees and customers. If earlier Paddle tried to solve the problem directly with the client, now they answer that they "cannot CC client". We have the feeling that they are not serving us, but we are serving them.
Most recent examples from memory:
Support can ask us for the customer's email address, although we sent a subscription ID in the ticket, which is enough to find the email, and not wait a few more hours for a response.
Sometimes customers get a message that "something went wrong" INSIDE the Paddle widget. However, their support responds that there are issues with our website. The reply is not professional (just check the history of subscriptions for a day to make sure there are no issues), and they also spoil our reputation with customers.
Summary:
Given all these cons, we are nonetheless still happier with the Paddle than with the FastSpring from which we switched. At least Paddle has a nice design. And we hope that they will improve in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
