You can set thresholds and email alerts to tell you when there is an anomaly in your data (ie, more than 20% of the profiles have been changed or opportunities have been deleted, etc) to allow us to proactively deal with errors in data integration jobs, etc. **What do you dislike about Salesforce Backup & Recover?** There isn't really anything that we dislike about it. **What problems is Salesforce Backup & Recover solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using OwnBackup to backup the data and metadata for our Salesforce orgs and sandboxes and it has been an amazing time saver for us. We had been doing the weekly data extracts from Salesforce which was time consuming and still didn't really give us a good failure plan in the event there was a catastrophic data loss of some sort. We have also used it as a change control mechanism to roll back errant changes made to the assignment rules, etc. We have used it to seed sandboxes with data and to get real insights into the changes being made to our data. ### 16. The setup for OwnBackup was very easy. The support team sets up a call with you to connect each instance you want to be backed up. Some features that are super useful for our organization includes the abiliity to roll back changes, the ability to back up sandbox instances in addition to production, email notifications to let you know a backup failed or was successful, and my favorite feature, the ability to set up alerts that lets you know when a certain percentage of records are updated. Additionally, the implementation support team is fantastic! The UI is very intuitive and simple to navigate. **What do you dislike about Salesforce Backup & Recover?** OwnBackup can be a bit expensive but it's worth it if it's within the budget. The initial setup to create the permission set for missing permissions can get a little confusing but the support team set up a call and helped us figure it out. **What problems is Salesforce Backup & Recover solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our team runs bulk updates for account planning each year but there are times when some changes need to be reverted. In the past, we've used our data import tool to run the updates and any reverts, but now having OwnBackup is game changing. This product is also Declarative and any decent SF Admin will be off and backing up their Orgs the within a day or even hours of signing up. This also has a built in GDPR tool, Sandbox Seeding tool as well. I have installed this at multiple companies and it is the #1 tool you gotta have. This is literally iCloud for Salesforce !!! The advanced key management and their security processes are the best available. We love their notifications and ability to change the backup scheduling and do ad-hoc back ups if we need as well. This also took almost a week to restore. OwnBackup customers were able to be back up in a matter of hours. We currently also back up our data to GCP, but tend to have issues every time an object is modified, or new objects are created. The setup is extremely easy to complete and there is little to no up-keep for the backups. There are many backup solutions out there, and I have tried a couple others and OwnBackup is easy to use, has a ton of features and the people there are fantastic. One of the many features that are extremely beneficial is the Alert functionality that will send you a notification when records have updated, deleted, created etc all based on your criteria. There are other users adding, removing and updating data in the org and it is nice to see when these changes occur. There is also the metadata compare feature that will allow you to see what changes have been made to code between environments and/or different time frames. Another excellent feature that I wish I had more time to explore and was unable to keep is sandbox seeding. Being able to seed a sandbox with the specific data that will be needed to properly test a new process or configuration is key and will speed up the process tremendously. **What do you dislike about Salesforce Backup & Recover?** One of my only complaints is that you are unable to customize exactly what notifications you get when you have created multiple BUs. As the master admin, I receive alerts for all BUs and that can be frustrating. Another feature that can be a little cumbersome is the fact that FLS is a factor and will not be updated if the logged in user for the backup does not have access to a field. There are occasions where there are fields from third party's that we are unable to update or instances where a different user is creating fields and fails to add visibility for the field to the OB user. **Recommendations to others considering Salesforce Backup & Recover:** Make sure you do your research first. We originally didn't like the pricing for OwnBackup and I believe that is why we went with Backupify but soon realized that we were not happy with the product. Other than that I haven't had anything else that I don't like. **Recommendations to others considering Salesforce Backup & Recover:** When you are looking for a Salesforce backup. this is a great one to consider because it stores not only the data but the metadata of your records and objects. I only found that in OwnBackup. **What problems is Salesforce Backup & Recover solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the need to back up our data and not having to write syncs to a backup service for our SQL database. It also mitigates some risk by having it backed up by a 3rd party instead of trying to do it ourselves. ### 48. They email you the moment it's not. We used it for Salesforce. I liked being able to filter information so you don't have to pull down the whole thing. It was perfect when we were trying to process every attachment we had to anything in SF. We would have had to build some massive projects to do what OwnBackup did for us. We just linked it, allowed it to max our API call limit for awhile to get caught up on backups. After the initial backups, we never had any more issues with API call limits. We were able to download an export of our entire SF, use a custom app to process them into a new file structure, and upload them to Sharefile.com Routine on-demand backups are very fast. It would take less than 30 minutes to take an incremental snapshot. **What do you dislike about Salesforce Backup & Recover?** It all takes a while to do things. To get a download of our entire SF would take a few hours. You queue up export jobs. They run for a bit, ask you to further filter, and then it takes a little while after that to get the results. It all works fine, but certainly, nothing feels dynamic. The filtering you have to do through excel. You download an excel sheet, then you can remove attributes, then let it continue getting your data. Pricing is per user and was getting expensive for us, but nothing compared to the cost of SF. We ditched SF, and then didn't need OwnBackup **Recommendations to others considering Salesforce Backup & Recover:** It's a great hands-off way to backup SF and be confident it's working. They send weekly emails with details as well as immediate emails if a backup completely fails. It's good for advanced users to pull data back from. It's good for Sandbox seeding. They have a good solution for it with features like scrambling data so end users can test without security concerns. **What problems is Salesforce Backup & Recover solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our entire customer database was in SF. That's working millions to us, so the cost of Ownbackup was completely worth it. It was very easy to link and gave use all complete ease about the data having restore points of at least every day in case if any of our bulk updates ever horrifically messed anything up. ### 49. The security of knowing your Salesforce orgs are backed up, and in the event of an emergency can be redeployed quickly to get your company back up and running in hours instead of weeks or months is by far the most critically important function of OwnBackup. The sandbox functionality is also great, with the ability to compare changes, restore if needed, seed anonymous data for testing, and check for differences between orgs. Overall this is a great tool! **What do you dislike about Salesforce Backup & Recover?** No downsides! Even if OwnBackup only provided the backup part it would be worth the cost. **Recommendations to others considering Salesforce Backup & Recover:** It's absolutely worth the cost! With Salesforce official stance on data backup and integrity, OwnBackup is a must for every company. There is no question, if something happens and your data is corrupted, you will want OwnBackup to help you get up and running. The fact that they make it easy...that's just amazing. You can get back up and running in hours or days vs weeks or months. **What problems is Salesforce Backup & Recover solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the very difficult "what if" scenario where data corruption takes down our org and we have to bring it all back online as soon as possible. We are also exploring the use cases for seeding sandboxes! ### 50.
