I enjoy the real-time alerts that keep us updated on competitor product updates, pricing changes, and market trends, saving us hours of manual work. Its integration with our existing workflows allows us to focus on our core goals without getting bogged down in administrative tasks. I appreciate its alignment with our German market focus, helping us stay ahead without wasting time on scattered data sources. The user-friendly interface is also a huge plus, allowing our non-technical teams to easily navigate the platform and access competitive insights without IT support. What do you dislike about Owler? I find the limited customization for industry-specific filters challenging. We often need to filter competitor data by specific criteria relevant to consumer electronics—like 'smart home device features' or 'CE certification status'—but the current search filters are too generic. For example, we can’t easily isolate competitors that specialize in smart home devices, which means we still have to sift through irrelevant results to find actionable insights. We can set hyper-targeted alerts specific to roles and regions, which deliver updates straight to our team's inboxes, Slack channels, and Owler dashboards. No more wading through irrelevant data. I don't like the language barriers with Owler. There's no native translation for non-English news or updates, which means it auto-translates content using basic machine translation. I like the level of publically available news and information they provide on companies I choose to track. There are many different options for what I want to track. I do wish they would track persons in addition to companies. The layout of information for Owler is really user-friendly and the company descriptions are very detailed. The downsides to Owler for us have been that they have very limited information for small construction firms which is who we really need data on. Since PR and media heavily influences the data available for companies, its tough in an industry that doesn't have many companies who have a big media presence. As I had the free subscription (which has changed over time, reducing the number of logo's one can follow), I had to curate the list of logo's I would follow. Overall, for the free subscription that I had, it did the job pretty well overall. Depending on my requested schedule, it did a decent job of scrubbing the internet for stories that are relevant to the companies I want to know about. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Owler? As time went on, the number of logo's I could follow was reduced (I don't blame Owler for this, as they do have to make money too...) and one pretty much gets a very small list of stories for that followed company. It may be different for the paid subscription, so I can't say that my evaluation is the best assessment of the entire service given by Owler, but in the absence of anything else, it has given me some better articles.. even more than the Google News Tracker service. Owler is finding articles for me in a diversified way that I may not see from my Apple News+ app or the curated Google News Tracker. In the daily news email, Owler is great for sharing key news about other competitors. It can be easy to overlook the daily news when there is an excessive amount of information. The financial information provided by Owler is sometimes not reliable, particularly for non-listed companies.In such cases I usually search again using Google or refer to the annual report published by each company to obtain more accurate information. As a strategy manager, it can be challenging to keep track of every movement by competitors in the industry. This includes not only basic business update such as product launches and IR report out but also their progress in terms of new innovations.
