"Fast, Flexible, and Enterprise-Ready, A 3-Year Perspective"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

With three years of hands-on OutSystems development, what stands out most to me is the speed-to-value ratio. I can build and ship enterprise features in days—work that would take weeks in traditional stacks—without losing control, because dropping into custom code or JavaScript when needed is seamless.

A few things have consistently impressed me. One-click deploy and rollback across environments makes release management painless. Reusable modules let you build once and plug in everywhere, which helps keep large codebases maintainable. The Forge marketplace is a huge time-saver; I rarely need to build integrations from scratch. The built-in performance guardrails are also valuable: the platform flags bad practices like N+1 queries and missing indexes before they turn into production issues. Finally, strong versioning and environment management keep dev/QA/prod promotion smooth, even on large teams.

After three years, it’s become my go-to for enterprise apps where both speed and governance matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

After about three years of use, I’ve run into a few pain points:

Licensing costs can get expensive as the number of apps and users scales, especially in larger enterprise environments. There’s also a steep learning curve when you start building more complex logic visual flows can get cluttered quickly with advanced business rules, and they can sometimes be harder to debug than plain code. Platform lock-in is another concern; once you’re deeply invested, migrating away becomes a significant undertaking. Finally, IDE performance can slow down on very large modules, and Service Studio may start to lag as applications grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

OutSystems helps solve the classic trade-off between development speed and enterprise-grade quality. It allows us to build and modernize applications quickly without sacrificing scalability, security, or governance areas that traditional development often struggles to balance when timelines are tight.

Here are the key benefits I’ve experienced:

Faster time-to-market features move from concept to production in a fraction of the usual time, which helps the business respond more quickly to changing needs.

Reduced technical debt built-in architectural best practices and automated warnings help keep codebases cleaner and more maintainable over time.

Easier legacy modernization replacing outdated systems feels far less risky and disruptive than attempting a full rebuild.

Lower dependency on large dev teams a smaller team can deliver and maintain more, which can directly reduce development costs.

Better cross-team collaboration the platform’s visual approach makes it easier for business and IT stakeholders to align on requirements and stay on the same page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outsystems Overall review"

5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

Fast application development, rich built-in widgets, easy application management through Service Center, automated logging for faster troubleshooting, powerful Timers and BPT, AI Mentor Studio for performance recommendations, and seamless integration with a wide range of external systems and tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

Debugging also needs more refinement, including the ability to manipulate values at runtime while debugging. A clearer folder hierarchy should be available to separate the web block.

For a better view of SQL data, there should be a built-in window or tool to run SQL queries and view results from more than two entities in the same results pane.

There should be window where we can see the generated result of an expression during debug time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

OutSystems enables faster delivery of client requirements, helping teams meet project timelines consistently. Its extensive library of pre-built UI components and HTML widgets reduces development effort and minimizes the need for custom front-end design, allowing developers to create interactive and responsive pages more efficiently. "Powerfull low code Tool"

5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

One of the most exciting things I've seen in OutSystems recently is its evolution from a low-code platform to a true Agentic AI platform. The introduction of AI-assisted application development through Mentor is a game changer. With just a BRD or even a simple prompt, it can generate a solid starting point for an application, which can significantly speed up the development process.

Another feature that really impressed me is the Agent Builder. It makes it easy to create AI agents and supports orchestrated agents, allowing multiple agents to work together to handle complex business scenarios. These capabilities take application development to a whole new level, and I'm excited to see how they can improve both developer productivity and business outcomes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

In one of my previous improvement sessions, I had suggested providing an easier way to migrate Traditional Web applications to Reactive Web. I'm glad to see that OutSystems has now introduced this capability. It will significantly reduce the effort involved in modernizing older applications and make migration much smoother for customers with existing OutSystems investments.

One area that still needs improvement is the OutSystems ODC On-Premises installation experience. Compared to the cloud offering, setting up and configuring ODC On-Premises is quite complex and requires considerable effort. I believe simplifying and stabilizing the on-premises installation process would make ODC adoption much easier for customers who prefer or require on-premises deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

Outsystems Reduce time to market Drive innovation and give Cost management, so overall it's giving more benefits to the business and customers are happy when we deliver the application on time. It's all that happens at Outsystems!!. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"OutSystems Speeds Idea-to-Production with Maintainable, Modular Apps"

5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

What I like best about OutSystems is how quickly you can go from an idea to a working, production-ready application, without sacrificing maintainability or integration with existing systems.

I find the visual development model together with strong support for modular architecture (core modules, services, and reusable components) very helpful for keeping complex applications understandable and easy to evolve over time. The built-in tooling for CI/CD, environment management, and performance monitoring reduces a lot of operational overhead compared to traditional custom stacks.

Another upside is the way OutSystems handles integration with databases and external services, giving you both speed (scaffolding, automatic CRUD) and enough control to apply proper optimization and security practices. Overall, it lets teams deliver robust applications faster while still applying solid engineering principles, which is what I value most. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

OutSystems is expensive, with high licensing costs that scale with users and application objects, making it hard to justify for small teams or low‑margin products. Pricing model is complex and hard to predict as apps grow, which increases anxiety about vendor lock‑in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

OutSystems is solving core enterprise software delivery problems. It is solving the speed of feature delivery, standardizing architecture. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Tool for Building Applications Quickly and Efficiently"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

One of the most noticeable improvements recently is the stronger focus on AI-powered development. Features that support automation and intelligent workflows make it easier to build smarter applications with less effort. Along with this, the mobile development experience has improved with a more modern runtime and better-performing UI components, making apps feel smoother and more native.

Another thing I like is the increased flexibility in workflows and UI customization. The platform now feels more mature with better support for reusable logic, improved integrations, and stronger governance and security features. Overall, these updates help speed up development while still giving enough control to handle more complex enterprise use cases Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

There are still a few areas where OutSystems can improve. The biggest one is pricing and licensing transparency—costs can be quite high and sometimes confusing, especially as applications scale or for smaller teams. Many users also feel that while the platform is powerful, it can become complex to manage for larger or more customized applications.

Another area for improvement is flexibility and customization. Since it’s a proprietary platform, there can be limitations when building highly specific or niche solutions, and some integrations with external or specialized tools can be challenging. Improving debugging, source control capabilities, and overall developer experience for advanced use cases would make the platform even stronger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

OutSystems has helped us address the challenge of delivering applications faster without sacrificing quality. Previously, development cycles were lengthy, with frequent bottlenecks around integrations and UI consistency. With OutSystems, we can rapidly prototype, iterate, and release applications, which has significantly reduced our time-to-market. The platform also helps in modernizing legacy systems by connecting them with newer digital solutions, ensuring business continuity while still innovating. This has resulted in improved team productivity, reduced technical debt, and faster response to business needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outsystems: The core shell for AI progress"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

The AI features they have been introducing these last months have given a complete revamp to the image the platform has. They introduce a new world of posibilities and change the paradigm: Outsystems is not an AI competitor, but an AI companion and accelerator. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

For sure they can improve their training paths (the technology would greatly benefit from having more experts on it) and their overall communication about upcoming features, specially in such an uncertainous season we are living in Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

Right now, Outsystems allows us to mitigate a big gap that exists in our company: The adaptability to new requirements in a business-demanding way. It is common for our businesses to have to adapt to new requirements due to changes in the environment, regulations or market environments, and therefore they need a sufficiently flexible solution that favours time-to-market. "Enterprise Apps Without Code—Plus the Flexibility of .NET Extensions"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

The best thing about Outsystems is its ability to create enterprise-level applications without writing any code. We’ve built applications—even complex ones—without writing a single line of code. And if something seems impossible to achieve without code, it still gives us the option to create an extension using .NET. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

There is no such thing to dislike about outsystems as it simplifies things to the extent where you can ignore any drawbacks, if any Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?

Outsystems is solving the problem of the time it takes to build an enterprise level application. The application which might take around 2 years to build using conventional coding, can be built within one year using outsystems Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outsystems - A Leading Low Code Application"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

OutSystems has introduced Agentic AI (Agents) with ODC. This is a new feature that gives power to developers to create AI agents for their clients to give real-time response and feedback with any service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The licensing cost is still high as small businesses can't afford to build their system using OutSystems. They should reduce the cost of licensing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Development Tool"

4.5/5

What do you like best about OutSystems?

Transforming our internal LOB applications to OutSystems has, so far, been a great move. The ability to design, build, and deploy solutions for the business with strong CX and UI is invaluable. Re-platforming many of our LOB apps into OutSystems means we can now give our employees the functionality and security they’ve always wanted, which we weren’t able to deliver with our incumbent systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OutSystems?

The only downside experienced so far is that the capabilities of OS are so far reaching that some simple solutions can seem like they require more lengthy dev time. This is far outweighted however by the ability to provide more functionality than ever before to our users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OutSystems:

This a great too, possibly more powerful than you need but allows you to take your business forward and speed up the complexity and ease of deployment of business apps to your users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OutSystems solving and how is that benefiting you?
