Oracle Goldengate is an replication tool. By using oracle goldengate database data can be replicated to other systems. Goldengate has to be configured between system for replication and we have two ways on the . Most widly used relocation mechanism is theunidirectional mechanism where the databse data will bereplicated to another databse for different causes like reporting purpose, duplication of databse, backup mechanism and so on. Mostly widley used cause of Goldengate is reporting purpose. The architecture of the goldengate mechanism is very simple and it has some 4 main components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Oracle GoldenGate? Oracle goldengate is not very much user friendly in configuration and this can be installed on top of unix operating system so the monitoring part needs to be configured in unix systesm. The monitoring can be also configured in database level using the default views which are available in the goldengate installation but that needs to be configured. Also golden Gate replication is a licensed product so please keep in mind about the cost involved in configuring goldengate as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Oracle GoldenGate: Organisations which is mainly concentrating on performance of production system and has a data where house setup then can utilise this goldengate to simplify the reporting solutions. What problems is Oracle GoldenGate solving and how is that benefiting you? By using goldengate we are able to build our databse backup strategy. Also by using theunidirectional goldengate mechanism we are able to achieve maxijun performance in production system by routing reporting load to replicated system. Also goldengate provides real time data sysnc function by which you can get the data replicatee ata very fast time than any other system. Bi directional goldengate replication replacws the Oracle data guard concepts. By using the bi directional goldengate mechanism user can achieve the sync between two systems. Oracle Golden Gate is an excellent tool which can be used to automate the replicate between instance. There are two ways of replication is available in Golden Gate. One is uni directional and the second one is bi directional. Uni directional goldengate is used widly in reporting application where the production data is replicated to the reporting application and the reports can run over the reorting database which will avoid performance issues on the production system. Also this goldengate setup act as a both the way replication system which is called bi directional which is very much essential in an environment where data is avcested in multiple system and updates are also happening in multiple system and there should be an requirement that data should be synced between systems Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Oracle GoldenGate? It is more complex to resolve if there is an lag issues between systems. Also if there is any network failure then the replication will get affected and the reporting database will provide the old data which has been captured before network failure from the prod database. Also the troubshootimg needs much knowledge about the Oracle components and with the help of the vendor support the troubleshloting can be dont for comples issues. Where sync is not happening for a long time. Else we need to do a full load which will again consume lot of time and effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Oracle GoldenGate: Those who are looking for replication mechanism between production and non production databsee then they can confidently go ahead with Oracle goldengate. Also goldengate can be used widly for both side replication mechanism as well. Which will be surely an multilevel software we can use it as data recovery mechanism, we can use it as replication for reporting, we can use it as a back mechanism as well Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Oracle GoldenGate solving and how is that benefiting you? For a huge remedy databse running reports over the production system creates more performance issues. By using Oracle goldengate the production data is replicated to another databse and using the same data the reports will provide the live data to customers. I would suggest to use unidirectional goldengate in such reporting scenario and bidirection configuration in area where both the databse will go under editing and both edited data should be at sync.
