Oracle EBS is supported by Oracle for minimum of 10 years (Any product version). The oracle meta link, the Electronic Technical Reference Manual are of great hep. The service requests logged by oracle users are looked after with great care by the Oracle support engineers. Now coming to the functionalities of Oracle EBS, the Oracle EBS financials has seen many major upgrades and transformation over the decades. Oracle introduced many revolutionary & industry benchmark concepts in Oracle EBS financials like the multi org structure, the Trading community architecture, to name a few. These functionalities allows a big corporation to logically partition its business data across different units in the application. Oracle also defined rules to manage and interact with different entities participating in business like Suppliers, Customers, Banks etc. **What do you dislike about Oracle EBS Financials?** Oracle ERP runs in java applets but is resource consuming in nature. The legacy on premise version of Oracle ERP application requires several other plugins and software as a pre requisite to run. Oracle application maintenance is very tricky, dedicated data base administrators need to be allocated to maintain, patch and update the application. Oracle on premise software patches can only be applied offline, so there is a considerable amount of software down time. Oracle apps has functions embedded into different menus and sub-menus. Which is a bit tricky for an user or a new user to grasp. We use EBS to procure raw materials from our suppliers, and business entities. Oracle EBS Financials has a lot of interfaces, we use the interfaces to import journals, currency rates using web ADIs. We use Oracle EBS Financials as a asset management tool. I also like that it requires almost nothing for oracle to run on my machine it is safe to say it is a bare minimum software. **What do you dislike about Oracle EBS Financials?** I hate the support that oracle provides it is as much as nil in terms of learning in terms of problems. The only way to solve a problem is to raise a CR and wait for days to get a auto generated reply which is really depressing for someone who is stuck in his work facing the problem. The interface is straight-forward and easy to use. At our company, all items are mapped based on product hierarchy and chart of accounts so as long as the initial mapping tables are correct, the information can be easily understood within the Oracle interface. **What do you dislike about Oracle EBS Financials?** I will caveat that the negative experience I have had as a user is due to the way my company has integrated Oracle with other systems and reporting mechanisms. We use Noetix to pull data and it is all dependent on VTABLES. Oracle has so much data so I wish there was a report builder or custom query application. If one exists then we do not have it. I am dependent on our IT team to build and connect vtables. For example, up until recently, I could not pull AP data and AR data in the same report. I would have to pull the information separately and then manually combine the data sets. Oracle is great but, from my personal experience, end-user satisfaction is severely dependent on how Oracle fits into a company's portfolio of applications and tools. If you do not have a good way to pull the data back out of Oracle, then there is no point. As of now, pulling the data continues to be a challenge for us.
