The speed I experienced with the tool was better than average, and it didn't get bogged down with too many requests running at once. **What do you dislike about Oracle E-Business Suite?** While the interface is easy to use, it's not always the most intuitive program. If you don't know what you're trying to do, it's best to just ask for help than to try and figure out things for yourself because it's unlikely you'll be successful. **Recommendations to others considering Oracle E-Business Suite:** Spend the money to get the system up and running to do what you need it to do. If you're not willing to spend the money on the implementation to have Oracle experts come in and set your system up, then don't waste your money and your employees' time. We thought that as an F200 company our IT foiks could lead the charge, get everything implmented, etc. I don't know if our people just weren't as good as we thought, or if the implementation was just harder than expected, but the rollout was terrible, and continued to be terrible a year later. Reports were missing, previously easy tasks were complicated, and the support from our internal IT was non-existant and there was no one else to call. Spend. The. Classical options are SAP or Oracle, and because of my career I was pushed to use the latter. It gets the job done, and I usually don't take much time on it unless there's a specific task that really needs me to do so. **What do you dislike about Oracle E-Business Suite?** I can't say much other than the web version is so much better than the client one, which is heavy to run and quite unfriendly in terms of speed and ease to use. All ERPs have different modules you can use, and none of them are usually just what you need. It is obviously a complex suite of software meant to satisfy requirements across a multitude of industries. But the architecture is dated, the user interface is horrible, and there is no real roadmap from Oracle to improve either beyond their bloated Fusion offerings. For large companies, satisfying requirements will make it necessary to customize the software--a big investment that will delay future upgrade projects. **Recommendations to others considering Oracle E-Business Suite:** Observe more agile competitors. Focus on usability and extensibility—particularly on extensibility measures that will endure through upgrades. ### 31. The overall EBS solution was a solid fit for the client. Beyond what you may call "core" ERP modules, what made this solution a good fit was the ability to manage complex quote/order configurations, usage based billing, revenue recognition and sales commission. **What do you dislike about Oracle E-Business Suite?** Oracle is a large business and that translates into some challeges regarding contractual issues; it has acquired many products recently, not all share the same user interface. **Recommendations to others considering Oracle E-Business Suite:** This software is not for a simple organization- you may not get the ROI. You need to be at a certain size and complexity to warrant using it. That said, it is designed for complex, larger organizations. So define your needs first. If you are in the mid market and end up choosing EBS, you will likely be best served by using a System Integrator to implement. Make sure you evaluate them just as diligently as you evaluate the software. ### 32. Oracle E-Business Suite is a good choice if you are a bigger company with deep pockets and a lot of business complexity. If you are a small company with a tight budget and non-complex business processes, some of the smaller SaaS offerings are a better choice. If you do opt for Oracle E-Business Suite, structure your Sales and Support contracts in a way that allows you to selectively buy and de-support smaller batches of licenses. Oracle Corporation has structured its support policies and standard agreements in a way that give you very little flexibility to change with ongoing needs, since Oracle counts on the support renewal business for a significant portion of its revenues. Oracle Support is notoriously bad which makes customers frequently question the value of paying for Support. Employ strong subject matter experts to exploit niche capabilities that exist out of the box to maximize your return on your software investment. Many companies deploy base functionality only and then create a slew of expensive and unstable customization for functionality that often times exists out of the box. ### 34. New features to deal with shared services organizations (eg a shared Accounts Payable department across divisions of a company) are helpful in R12. Some Web 2.0 features have arrived in minor areas such as typeahead and mouseover to view attachments. Business Accelerators may allow for a faster implementation. Many of the deeper features are not easily understood or setup by this questionnaire-based approach. Globalization and localization features that are available are extensive for countries such as India, Brazil, and others. **What do you dislike about Oracle E-Business Suite?** Upgrade and patching projects involve quite a bit of research and risk for companies with a large footprint, especially if customizations are present. Even with compliant customization the changes involved require many months of effort for a point (eg R12 to R12.1) or full (11i to R12) upgrade. Integrations are strong in some areas such as AR Customer Invoices via AutoInvoice, but others lack basic features such as mass Supplier update (although creation has an API). The transition away from Java/Coreapps to web/ADF is a slow one and something that will only be completed with the Fusion project that still lacks the full module set that EBS provides and will require a re-implementation/migration of data (although scripts may be provided to ease the pain). **Recommendations to others considering Oracle E-Business Suite:** Consider your future growth and globalization as well as what other systems you need to integrate with from the start. Minimize customizations and navigate the complex world of Oracle licensing, maintenance and VM pricing carefully. ### 35. Solid Product built over the years.
