**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Oracle Database?**

The best thing I like about this is that there are multiple ways to achieve the same end solution. Moreover, the popularity of PL/SQL is something that makes it a go to standard. Due to a lot of users of Oracle's products, you easily land up on quick solutions to your problems.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Database?**

It is a lot costly and we did not find it very efficient in our use cases involving high volume data. While they are rolling out new features, I feel the focus on improving the overall performance(which is typically a major requirement for any organization dealing with big data and analytics) is not much there.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Database:**

For our cases, it has only been good for the transactional processing applications. However, if you are trying to put it into Data Warehousing applications, it might not be the best and the most efficient choice. I would suggest going over databases like Vertica in that case.

**What problems is Oracle Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were dealing with high-volume financial data primarily around banking transactions. Non-analytical and OLTP operations have been quite satisfying from the performance point of view. Multi-language support and probably the largest for any database community are plus.
