**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Oracle Database?**

Oracle is a great database. My favorite thing about it is that it has very good third party tools, such as PL/SQL Developer. One program I use a LOT with Oracle is Forta Automate - this is an RPA program - - Robotic Process Automation.

When we are ready to move Oracle PL/SQL Code from the Development envirionment to QA and then to Production we use the Automate task that I built. The Oracle Developer just fills out a simple spreadsheet with names of the database items to move (tables, procedures, packages, custom scripts, etc.) and saves that in a shared folder.

Automate watches that folder for spreadsheets, and when a new one appears it reads it cell by cell and creates one single comprehensive SQL Script for the DBA to run. This Automate task includes a good bit of error checking for common mistakes and the script notifies the DBA of the name of each database object currently being processed so that all successesful moves are documented and all problems are listed along with the name of the problematic object.

For both the Oracle Developer and the DBA it is a very simple process and It works exceedingly well!

**What do you dislike about Oracle Database?**

I have found very little to dislike about Oracle databases. The licensing seems kind of technically complicated sometimes - but fortunately I don't have to deal with that. I just write the code and make apps.
