**What do you like best about Oracle Database?**

Oracle Database is one of the most powerful databases available, with advanced features. Its customer support and Metalink help service are also excellent. Moving from MySQL to Oracle was easy for me. It works well with Spotfire, which allows for dynamic data visualizations and helps make better business decisions. I appreciate how it handles website deployments and stores customer data securely.

Oracle supports many programming languages and provides reliable backup and storage for large amounts of data. It also uses PL/SQL, making it easy to create complex queries. The database is great for managing audits and analyzing data, and their technical support is very responsive, solving problems quickly.

There is a useful tool that lets us easily search through our database tables. Oracle also offers top-notch security, with tools like RMAN, DATAPUMP, DATAGUARD, and RAC that help us recover lost or damaged data.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Database?**

On the downside, using Oracle in the cloud can be very expensive, and the software uses a lot of memory. Also, installing it can be complicated, especially when upgrading to a new version, as you need to meet several requirements beforehand. There’s no easy way to migrate databases either, and the license is more expensive compared to other providers.

Still, I would say Oracle is the best platform I've used. However, error messages are sometimes unclear and don’t explain the problem well. It can also be hard to find certain functions, and switching from other programming languages to Oracle can be challenging.

**What problems is Oracle Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle Database offers excellent performance, helping us manage our data and client records in a structured and controlled way. Its high performance made switching to Oracle necessary for us. It can handle large amounts of data from different applications, which is impressive. I highly recommend this software because it makes managing data easy, and its many built-in features are very helpful for businesses.

Once it's set up properly, Oracle runs smoothly without any issues. It’s perfect for handling large databases and easier to implement than other solutions. Thanks to its strong performance and stability, businesses experience minimal downtime, ensuring business continuity. It also offers top-notch security and useful features like table partitions and database recovery, which have been very helpful for our operations.

As per my usage is concerned I have one common dislike about Oracle Database is its high cost, especially for smaller organizations or those with limited budgets. I have observed that the licensing fees and support costs can be significant.

Additionally, one more point that is complexity is a drawback. And I have seen that in my local users, some users also find the resource-intensive nature of Oracle challenging, as it requires substantial hardware and computing power for optimal performance. I can say that these are the points which can conclude why I dislike Oracle Database.

**What problems is Oracle Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me Oracle Database solves problems related to handling large datasets, ensuring data security, and managing complex queries. It also benefited my organization by providing high availability and scalability, which are essential for mission-critical applications.

**Reviewed by:** Smitha S. | Senior Solutions Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Oracle Database?**

-Oracle Database 12c offers scalability to handle demanding workloads effectively.
-PL/SQL offers an efficient means of developing data-intensive processes that interact with data directly, eliminating the need to transfer it to an application server.
-Optional features like Partitioning, Compression, and Encryption enhance performance, cut costs, and bolster the security of data stored in Oracle Database 12c.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Database?**

Oracle could enhance its internal locking mechanism, latch management, and data concurrency. I've observed databases that perform well with fewer active user sessions, but as the number of active user sessions grows, database performance proportionally declines. With a well-designed database kernel, performance issues should not arise, regardless of the number of user connections or sessions.

**What problems is Oracle Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We rely on Oracle Database 12c to store critical data from various MLFF tolling modules. Its ability to handle variable workloads while maintaining peak performance makes it an essential component in our solutions.

  ### 50. Oracle database review

**What do you like best about Oracle Database?**

Oracle's offering of an RDMS database has more to offer than just this.
Oracle is one of the best offerings on the RDBMS front and to top it all, you can use the latest version of Oracle as a free tier on the Cloud front as well.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Database?**

One of the downfalls to Oracle is that it is a paid version where you might have to spend a bit more over than the other RDBMS's available in the market as such (PostgreSQL as an example).

**What problems is Oracle Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Oracle database was used to store all the application data in the organized / structured way of tables.
Oracle helps users and administrators in a good way to keep the unwanted data out of the system, by doing very specific checks.
