I previously worked on it's predecessor platform Oracle ATG, which was an ecommerce platform ahead of its time, both powerful and feature rich. Oracle commerce cloud is an abstract version of Oracle ATG in terms of maintenance or lead time to go to market. The platform no doubt is a headless platform. However, it is inconvenient for a developer to start thinking in API's for a simple task like adding a new field or a complex task like uploading a file. The concepts of droplets and formhandlers are easy to grasp whereas certain feature like pre-calculators, express checkout formhandlers, promotions engine, post-calculators takes time and experience to master and implement for large ecommerce application use cases.
