"Effortless A/B Testing with Easy Setup"

4/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I use Optimizely Web Experimentation for A/B testing. I found it was easy to integrate, and the web interface is really self-intuitive. The APIs are well designed, which saves development time and lets us launch experiments fast. The automatic customer distinction and data management features are excellent, providing valuable insights. The intuitive interface also allows non-technical team members to set up and monitor tests independently, significantly speeding up our decision-making process. Plus, the integration with shared libraries was straightforward, only requiring adding a dependency and two lines of code for each project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The reporting and analytic dashboards could be more detailed and customizable. More granular segmentation options in reports, like filtering results by device, location, user behavior, type etc. Exporting raw data could be more easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Optimizely Web Experimentation lets us test features on small groups to see if they attract or repel customers, saving development time with well-designed APIs and automatic customer distinctions. Its intuitive interface allows non-technical team members to set up tests independently, speeding up decision-making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Flexible, and Developer-Friendly Experimentation Platform"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I really like how quick and simple it is to test new ideas without needing a full deployment cycle. As a developer, I can easily implement experiments directly in code and see the impact almost instantly. The platform’s flexibility allows us to update or replace page elements, try new layouts, or inject components on specific pages without disturbing production code. It’s reliable, intuitive, and fits smoothly into our existing workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

There isn’t much to dislike, but since it’s a client-side tool, there’s a small delay before the experiment changes appear on the page. While the no-code options are great for marketers, they’re somewhat limited in what they can achieve compared to code-based experiments. Still, for developers, the overall experience is smooth, stable, and easy to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Optimizely helps us validate new features and ideas quickly before investing time in full development. Instead of building and deploying a feature site-wide, we can test it on selected pages, gather data, and decide based on performance. For example, we use it to experiment with new UI components, content updates, and user flows. If the results are positive, we move forward with full productization. This saves significant development time, reduces risk, and helps us make data-driven decisions faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A potent piece of kit, watch out!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Web Experimentation is, unsurprisingly, geared towards experimental practices common across many organisations. However, it also proves to be an exceptionally powerful tool for delivering complex content updates rapidly, without the need for a formal deployment.

For me, this is perhaps its most compelling feature. It offers an alternative and immediate route to production, allowing us to make small, targeted changes to website content or functionality without the overhead of the traditional cycle of planning, development, testing, and deployment.

So long as it is used surgically and pragmatically (I.E. with a clear understanding of scope and impact), Web Experimentation can serve as a smart, agile extension of our delivery toolkit. It empowers teams to respond swiftly to business needs, trial ideas with minimal friction, and optimise user experiences in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

While Web Experimentation offers remarkable speed and flexibility, it also opens the door to some real risks if not used with discipline. The very thing that makes it powerful - its ability to bypass the usual delivery pipeline - also makes it dangerously easy to misuse.

Because changes can be pushed live so quickly, there's a strong temptation to subvert normal development processes. It becomes too easy to skip critical steps like peer reviews, testing, accessibility checks, and stakeholder alignment. This creates a kind of shadow delivery stream where decisions and changes are made in isolation, often without sufficient visibility or long-term accountability.

In short, it’s easy to shoot yourself in the foot. Without strong governance or a mature team that understands when and how to use it appropriately, Web Experimentation can lead to technical debt, inconsistent user experiences, or even regressions that are hard to trace.

Used irresponsibly, it risks becoming a shortcut for poor process rather than a tool for smart agility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Optimizely Web Experimentation is helping us solve a number of practical challenges that would otherwise slow down our ability to respond to business needs or improve the user experience.

Firstly, it enables us to deploy high-priority fixes quickly. For example, preventing users from double-clicking a button and triggering duplicate submissions, without having to wait for the full website release cycle. This gives us a way to stabilise the site immediately, while the proper fix is worked on through our normal development process.

Secondly, it allows us to deliver complex content pieces that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through our CMS alone. This gives us far more creative and functional freedom to support campaigns, bespoke user journeys, or other one-off requirements.

Thirdly, it empowers us to run A/B tests on small but meaningful changes (like wording, layout, or interaction tweaks) to see if they have a measurable impact before making any permanent changes. This takes the guesswork out of optimisation and helps us focus effort on what actually moves the needle.

Finally, it enables a "cheap first" approach to implementation. We can try out ideas quickly and only invest in full-scale development if the experiment proves its value. This not only saves time and money, but also ensures our roadmap is shaped by evidence, not just intuition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Optimizely Get Web Experimentation"

5/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Optimizely Web Experimentation makes the process of implementing web experiments easy. I'm impressed by how quickly and easily experiments can be set up, deployed, and managed, even without extensive technical knowledge. Specifically, the ability to control the percentage of a feature under experiment is one of the best tools I've used. Being able to turn on/off these experiments near instantly has helped reduce our mean time to resolve by at least 60%. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

One thing I found challenging about Optimizely Web Experimentation is the initial learning curve was steep. Especially for new users without prior experience or guidance. There are a lot of features. The documentation is robust but doesn't speed up the process. Recent changes to the user interface make it difficult to find and access certain features or settings. These interface changes disrupted workflow. It requirs additional clicks or searches to complete tasks that previously seemed simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Optimizely's web experimentation helps us effectively control and personalize our end-users' experience. It helps in gathering valuable and actionable data from those interactions. Quick deploys to test different versions of our website is a benefit of this tool. We've improved our user experience with this tool. We can now confidently identify what appeals to our audience. This improves our ability to optimize conversions and engagement. It also ensures we're continually delivering the most effective improvements to our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent software & their Support is OUTSTANDING! Coding experience needed for many experiments"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

You have absolute control over the page you are testing (it's URL-specific, copy & paste), and the results come in almost real-time. There are options at the top to inject CSS and JavaScript, which can help immensely! The Support Team is incredible with their feedback - usually taking ~24 hrs. or less! Highly recommend! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Overall Revenue. This is a built-in feature, but it seems to be the least likely to yield results. I suggest developing a more user-friendly way to track specific sales from the page being targeted than simply listing "Overall Revenue." If this doesn't reach stat sig quickly enough, why even have it as an option? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Like most, my problem is figuring out what design/layout will yield the most sales. This allows me a clear view into real users' experience so I can implement changes to guide them towards a purchase more easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

With Optimizely, we can continuously improve our website’s performance and deliver tailored content that resonates with our automotive customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

While Optimizely Web Experimentation is a robust platform, it can be a bit complex for teams without dedicated resources or experience in experimentation. We need to rely on our agency for most experiments setup Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Optimizely's Web Experimentation is a great tool for experimenters"

4/5

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Optimizely is the tool I use at work most of the time. I really like how intuitive and user-friendly it is. I can easily build and manage my experiments. It is very comprehensive in terms of the functionality it offers and can probably solve most use cases. They have extensive information for marketers and developers available in their help centre. Customer support has always been helpful and prompt to answer our questions. Additionally, Optimizely regularly releases new updates to make it even easier to use and manage your experimentation programme. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

It takes a bit of time to learn the tool and all its ins and outs, but once you do, you realise how straightforward it is, although it can be quite overwhelming at first. Another thing to note is that it's quite a pricey solution, which is not surprising, given that it's constantly marketed as best in class by Gartner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?

Optimizely helps us to improve our user journeys and customer experience on the website. It helps us to make better decisions and drive extra revenue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
