## Optimizely Web Experimentation Reviews
  ### 1. Fast, Flexible, and Developer-Friendly Experimentation Platform

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I really like how quick and simple it is to test new ideas without needing a full deployment cycle. As a developer, I can easily implement experiments directly in code and see the impact almost instantly. The platform’s flexibility allows us to update or replace page elements, try new layouts, or inject components on specific pages without disturbing production code. It’s reliable, intuitive, and fits smoothly into our existing workflow.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There isn’t much to dislike, but since it’s a client-side tool, there’s a small delay before the experiment changes appear on the page. While the no-code options are great for marketers, they’re somewhat limited in what they can achieve compared to code-based experiments. Still, for developers, the overall experience is smooth, stable, and easy to manage.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely helps us validate new features and ideas quickly before investing time in full development. Instead of building and deploying a feature site-wide, we can test it on selected pages, gather data, and decide based on performance. For example, we use it to experiment with new UI components, content updates, and user flows. If the results are positive, we move forward with full productization. This saves significant development time, reduces risk, and helps us make data-driven decisions faster.

  ### 2. A potent piece of kit, watch out!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Web Experimentation is, unsurprisingly, geared towards experimental practices common across many organisations. However, it also proves to be an exceptionally powerful tool for delivering complex content updates rapidly, without the need for a formal deployment.

For me, this is perhaps its most compelling feature. It offers an alternative and immediate route to production, allowing us to make small, targeted changes to website content or functionality without the overhead of the traditional cycle of planning, development, testing, and deployment.

So long as it is used surgically and pragmatically (I.E. with a clear understanding of scope and impact), Web Experimentation can serve as a smart, agile extension of our delivery toolkit. It empowers teams to respond swiftly to business needs, trial ideas with minimal friction, and optimise user experiences in real time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While Web Experimentation offers remarkable speed and flexibility, it also opens the door to some real risks if not used with discipline. The very thing that makes it powerful - its ability to bypass the usual delivery pipeline - also makes it dangerously easy to misuse.

Because changes can be pushed live so quickly, there's a strong temptation to subvert normal development processes. It becomes too easy to skip critical steps like peer reviews, testing, accessibility checks, and stakeholder alignment. This creates a kind of shadow delivery stream where decisions and changes are made in isolation, often without sufficient visibility or long-term accountability.

In short, it’s easy to shoot yourself in the foot. Without strong governance or a mature team that understands when and how to use it appropriately, Web Experimentation can lead to technical debt, inconsistent user experiences, or even regressions that are hard to trace.

Used irresponsibly, it risks becoming a shortcut for poor process rather than a tool for smart agility.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation is helping us solve a number of practical challenges that would otherwise slow down our ability to respond to business needs or improve the user experience.

Firstly, it enables us to deploy high-priority fixes quickly. For example, preventing users from double-clicking a button and triggering duplicate submissions, without having to wait for the full website release cycle. This gives us a way to stabilise the site immediately, while the proper fix is worked on through our normal development process.

Secondly, it allows us to deliver complex content pieces that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through our CMS alone. This gives us far more creative and functional freedom to support campaigns, bespoke user journeys, or other one-off requirements.

Thirdly, it empowers us to run A/B tests on small but meaningful changes (like wording, layout, or interaction tweaks) to see if they have a measurable impact before making any permanent changes. This takes the guesswork out of optimisation and helps us focus effort on what actually moves the needle.

Finally, it enables a "cheap first" approach to implementation. We can try out ideas quickly and only invest in full-scale development if the experiment proves its value. This not only saves time and money, but also ensures our roadmap is shaped by evidence, not just intuition.

  ### 3. Advanced and reliable AB testing tool

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation offers exceptional flexibility and control, allowing us to run A/B tests and multivariate experiments with ease. With Optimizely, we can continuously improve our website’s performance and deliver tailored content that resonates with our automotive customers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While Optimizely Web Experimentation is a robust platform, it can be a bit complex for teams without dedicated resources or experience in experimentation. We need to rely on our agency for most experiments setup

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to run A/B and multivariate tests, enabling data-driven decisions that improve conversion rates on key pages, such as product listings or checkout. This has helped us drive more leads to our b2b partners.

  ### 4. Optimizely's Web Experimentation is a great tool for experimenters

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ilona L. | Website Optimisation Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is the tool I use at work most of the time. I really like how intuitive and user-friendly it is. I can easily build and manage my experiments. It is very comprehensive in terms of the functionality it offers and can probably solve most use cases. They have extensive information for marketers and developers available in their help centre. Customer support has always been helpful and prompt to answer our questions. Additionally, Optimizely regularly releases new updates to make it even easier to use and manage your experimentation programme.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It takes a bit of time to learn the tool and all its ins and outs, but once you do, you realise how straightforward it is, although it can be quite overwhelming at first. Another thing to note is that it's quite a pricey solution, which is not surprising, given that it's constantly marketed as best in class by Gartner.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely helps us to improve our user journeys and customer experience on the website. It helps us to make better decisions and drive extra revenue.

  ### 5. A/B testing and Personalisation

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ease of use of OWE is second to none, there are always new features being rolled out to make the experience easy and seamless. The visual editor, ability to add templates and monitor all tests is a game changer.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I would really like to be able to monitor the results for all ongoing tests, as in - if there was one particular primary metric used for multiple tests, it would be good to see the impact of all - in B2B SaaS this may be leads for demos etc.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation helps us test and personalize user experiences at Brandwatch and Cision, allowing us to make data-driven decisions that improve conversion rates. By running A/B tests and targeted personalizations, we can optimize customer journeys, reduce friction, and enhance engagement, leading to better business outcomes.

  ### 6. Amazing tech if you're new to AB Testing and looking for a solution for the years ahead

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabien C. | CX Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through Google One Tap using a business email account

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The tech is solid, lots of features, the support is reactive, offers a good mix between ease of use for marketer and technical enough to allow for advanced setup with developpers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The UI might seem complex due to the number of features, if you're a standalone marketer with no developper help, you will meet roadblocks eventually. You might need to pay extra to get more features / evolve your offering as your needs become more niche.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enables AB Testing & Personalization to drive stronger website and app experiences.
Optimize your KPIs for your business.

  ### 7. Powerful tool that we need to use to step our CRM and Martech flows to the next level

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

The ability for non-technical users to execute experiments on our homepage and iterate more quickly than is currently possible by our teams. Also, the highlighting of how we can potentially use AI to supercharge this side of personalisation and content experimentation for our business. Integrating and implementing has been easy throughout.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

In our case it's not necessarily a dislike about the tool, I think it's more about getting the right teams to know what features are offered. I think experimentation at our organisation is still seen as something owned completely by data, but web experimentation democratizes that, and should therefore be adopted by other teams like Martech and Marketing to a deeper extent than is currently done.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster iteration over content-based experiments for our website homepage. However again, we're not getting as much as we should out of this part of the software.

  ### 8. Can run just about any experiment I throw at it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean O. | Strategic Digital Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I've been using Optimizely Web Experimentation for a couple of years. It can handle just about any experiment we throw at it, has a robust reporting engine, they introduce new features at a fast rate and the performance is good. It's an efficient platform to use as well. The customer support team has also been very helpful whenever we've needed them.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While mostly easy to use, you do need a basic understanding of CSS selectors and the DOM. Without that base level you'll find it a frustrating experience trying to select the right element to change or measure.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us understanding the effectiveness of our landing pages and key customer journeys, supporting all areas of our business.

  ### 9. Impressive capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

This reviewer's identity has been verified by our review moderation team. They have asked not to show their
name, job title, or picture.

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The live editor allowing you make customizations on the fly is an exceptional tool. Its easy to implement, use, and unlike anything we've used before. It really put the power in the right hands and decouples the engineering dependencies from the experimentation process. Also, the edge capabilities are really powerful in delivering an optimized experience for our customers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The downside we've seen is from a testing perspective and having an ability to force yourself into one of the variations. It would be great for our QA team to be able to decide which version they want and ultimately be able to test any version at their discretion.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More performant tools than competitors. Edge capabilities are a huge plus.

  ### 10. Very good tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denny R. | Trainee Personalisation Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The upsides are that you can easily put experiments live. I do not have CRO experience and putting these experiments live was very straightforward. The tracking of results and the statistical significance is also very clear. We like how we can also test into different pages on site not just as a whole which a different competitor we used to use did which limited us

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

One thing I’ve found is that I can’t check revenue per visitor in the dashboard only revenue per session which limits our reporting and need to go to GA for this.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Putting out multiple Tests on different placements in the same duration with such ease. Saves our team a lot of time

  ### 11. Leading platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

This reviewer's identity has been verified by our review moderation team. They have asked not to show their
name, job title, or picture.

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely keeps growing and maturing the feature functionality. Integrations with my backend, code snipits to go in GTM and willingless to leave behind a plan for people to follow inside the org is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The hardest part is going cold pre testing and personalization into a culture where folks self serve. That is the stage my organization is at right now and while I am confident there is support to help us get there, the challenge to explain the value of testing remains.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us get live with items before the team thinks they have arrived at 'perfect' and speed to market knowing you can run a B version

  ### 12. A good way to AB test

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristen J. | Global Ecommerce Analyst, SEO/PPC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account added to their profile

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely provides a lot of options for creating AB tests. Implementation with relatively easy.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I would like more templates so we could do less coding, as a marketer and note a coder it makes for more difficult tests to have to go to development to get done which takes longer.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving us the ability to test new ideas and see if they work without just guessing what our customers would like.

  ### 13. GDPR Compliant Web Testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karsten F. | Growth Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely stands out when it comes to meeting regional and industry specific regulatory requirements while maintaining all functions that make an extraordinary experimentation tool.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Tests that are insignificant are always challenging to deal with. The root cause however is not Optimizely.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely enables us to gather valuable insights about our web visitors. With these we can constantly improve their experience.

  ### 14. A tool for everyone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

This reviewer's identity has been verified by our review moderation team. They have asked not to show their

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through Google using a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I really like that it allows nearly everyone to experiment. It is suitable for beginners but also for expertes or developers. The option to work with the editor, templates or pure javascript opens all doors.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

To be honest, everything is very well implemented. Currently, there is nothing what i do not like. The system never disappointed me.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows testing of new features before launching them, which gives more confidence in upcoming deployments. Besides this, it is used for smaller changes to implement for a 100% audience, until they can be developed by dev.

  ### 15. The Perfect Experimentation Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Cosmetics | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The experimentation platform is super flexible, making it easy for tech-savvy folks to take things to the next level with fully customized experiences. The best part? The visual editor is so simple and powerful that anyone can build amazing tests without needing help from a developer!

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Web experimentation on its own doesn’t provide the most comprehensive analytics solution. However, you can easily pair it with tools like Google Analytics or Optimizely Analytics to get a complete 360-degree view of all your test data.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding how people interact with our websites and new features

  ### 16. Good ab testing tool requiring advanced technical knowledge to get the best out of it

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Technically advanced tool capable of managing complex tests that require good development skills

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Metrics management
Lack of preview mode
lack of explanation of statistical significance, which is not always consistent

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handle complex ab testing pattenrns, and replace Prod features while winning version is being hard coded

  ### 17. Very easy to use feature packed tool that just works

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

For us it's a very easy to use experimentation tool that always support the experiment setup we require and just works as expected. Added to that it has a very intuitive UI that makes it a breeze to setup multiple experiments in a short time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

In all honesty; it's expensive, making it not an option for every client.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides us with a very stable basis to build basically any experiment and any type of conditionaly activating is. Together with a variety of options to configure our snippet and global activations, makes it a breeze to work with.

Optimizely itself is a great tool for both new and established CRO programmes. They are constantly upgrading and adding new services
