**Describe the project or task Optimizely Web Experimentation helped with:**

Optimizely's AI-driven tools, like Opal, simplify the experimentation process, reducing the need for manual intervention and allowing for more efficient use of resources.

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I like that Optimizely built us an AI agent to help make the testing and experimentation easier. It helps to make experimentation easier without adding resources. It brings the hypothesis together as well as the various items to test. It brings it all together very easily to implement the test. The onboarding consultant made the initial setup a lot easier and helped us set up some spreadsheets and dashboarding to make it a lot more straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Before introducing Opal, I found using Optimizely Web Experimentation very high touch, requiring a lot of manual intervention and resources.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Consider integrating AI tools like Opal to streamline your experimentation processes and reduce manual workload.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation helps us make data-driven decisions, breaking executive ties on web pages, and eases experimentation without extra resources. It streamlines testing, bringing together hypotheses and test items, making our limited resources and budget stretch further.

  ### 2. A potent piece of kit, watch out!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas H. | Practice Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Web Experimentation is, unsurprisingly, geared towards experimental practices common across many organisations. However, it also proves to be an exceptionally powerful tool for delivering complex content updates rapidly, without the need for a formal deployment.

For me, this is perhaps its most compelling feature. It offers an alternative and immediate route to production, allowing us to make small, targeted changes to website content or functionality without the overhead of the traditional cycle of planning, development, testing, and deployment.

So long as it is used surgically and pragmatically (I.E. with a clear understanding of scope and impact), Web Experimentation can serve as a smart, agile extension of our delivery toolkit. It empowers teams to respond swiftly to business needs, trial ideas with minimal friction, and optimise user experiences in real time.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While Web Experimentation offers remarkable speed and flexibility, it also opens the door to some real risks if not used with discipline. The very thing that makes it powerful - its ability to bypass the usual delivery pipeline - also makes it dangerously easy to misuse.

Because changes can be pushed live so quickly, there's a strong temptation to subvert normal development processes. It becomes too easy to skip critical steps like peer reviews, testing, accessibility checks, and stakeholder alignment. This creates a kind of shadow delivery stream where decisions and changes are made in isolation, often without sufficient visibility or long-term accountability.

In short, it’s easy to shoot yourself in the foot. Without strong governance or a mature team that understands when and how to use it appropriately, Web Experimentation can lead to technical debt, inconsistent user experiences, or even regressions that are hard to trace.

Used irresponsibly, it risks becoming a shortcut for poor process rather than a tool for smart agility.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation is helping us solve a number of practical challenges that would otherwise slow down our ability to respond to business needs or improve the user experience.

Firstly, it enables us to deploy high-priority fixes quickly. For example, preventing users from double-clicking a button and triggering duplicate submissions, without having to wait for the full website release cycle. This gives us a way to stabilise the site immediately, while the proper fix is worked on through our normal development process.

Secondly, it allows us to deliver complex content pieces that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through our CMS alone. This gives us far more creative and functional freedom to support campaigns, bespoke user journeys, or other one-off requirements.

Thirdly, it empowers us to run A/B tests on small but meaningful changes (like wording, layout, or interaction tweaks) to see if they have a measurable impact before making any permanent changes. This takes the guesswork out of optimisation and helps us focus effort on what actually moves the needle.

Finally, it enables a "cheap first" approach to implementation. We can try out ideas quickly and only invest in full-scale development if the experiment proves its value. This not only saves time and money, but also ensures our roadmap is shaped by evidence, not just intuition.

  ### 3. Optimizely Get Web Experimentation

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation makes the process of implementing web experiments easy. I'm impressed by how quickly and easily experiments can be set up, deployed, and managed, even without extensive technical knowledge. Specifically, the ability to control the percentage of a feature under experiment is one of the best tools I've used. Being able to turn on/off these experiments near instantly has helped reduce our mean time to resolve by at least 60%.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

One thing I found challenging about Optimizely Web Experimentation is the initial learning curve was steep. Especially for new users without prior experience or guidance. There are a lot of features. The documentation is robust but doesn't speed up the process. Recent changes to the user interface make it difficult to find and access certain features or settings. These interface changes disrupted workflow. It requires additional clicks or searches to complete tasks that previously seemed simpler.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely's web experimentation helps us effectively control and personalize our end-users' experience. It helps in gathering valuable and actionable data from those interactions. Quick deploys to test different versions of our website is a benefit of this tool. We've improved our user experience with this tool. We can now confidently identify what appeals to our audience. This improves our ability to optimize conversions and engagement. It also ensures we're continually delivering the most effective improvements to our users.

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation offers exceptional flexibility and control, allowing us to run A/B tests and multivariate experiments with ease. With Optimizely, we can continuously improve our website’s performance and deliver tailored content that resonates with our automotive customers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While Optimizely Web Experimentation is a robust platform, it can be a bit complex for teams without dedicated resources or experience in experimentation. We need to rely on our agency for most experiments setup

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to run A/B and multivariate tests, enabling data-driven decisions that improve conversion rates on key pages, such as product listings or checkout. This has helped us drive more leads to our b2b partners.

  ### 5. Optimizely's Web Experimentation is a great tool for experimenters

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ilona L. | Website Optimisation Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is the tool I use at work most of the time. I really like how intuitive and user-friendly it is. I can easily build and manage my experiments. It is very comprehensive in terms of the functionality it offers and can probably solve most use cases. They have extensive information for marketers and developers available in their help centre. Customer support has always been helpful and prompt to answer our questions. Additionally, Optimizely regularly releases new updates to make it even easier to use and manage your experimentation programme.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It takes a bit of time to learn the tool and all its ins and outs, but once you do, you realise how straightforward it is, although it can be quite overwhelming at first. Another thing to note is that it's quite a pricey solution, which is not surprising, given that it's constantly marketed as best in class by Gartner.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely helps us to improve our user journeys and customer experience on the website. It helps us to make better decisions and drive extra revenue.

  ### 6. Amazing tech if you're new to AB Testing and looking for a solution for the years ahead

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabien C. | CX Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through Google One Tap using a business email account

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The tech is solid, lots of features, the support is reactive, offers a good mix between ease of use for marketer and technical enough to allow for advanced setup with developers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The UI might seem complex due to the number of features, if you're a standalone marketer with no developer help, you will meet roadblocks eventually. You might need to pay extra to get more features / evolve your offering as your needs become more niche.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enables AB Testing & Personalization to drive stronger website and app experiences. Optimize your KPIs for your business.

  ### 7. A great platform for validating hypothesises and Conversion Rate Optimization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian H. | Head of Product, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Both the speed with which you can undertake experiments and changes, meaning you can validate lots of hypotheses in a short space of time, and the ability to have reassurances on the data impacts (and calculation of statistical significance). The WYSIWYG editor significantly helps team members with low technical acumen. Have had great help with Optimizely's customer support team.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Dependent on the change, your tech stack needs to be able to work with Optimizely. Some of the tests that you feel could easily be accomplished in Optimizely Web, prove to be more difficult, and there is a reasonable learning curve to understand what can be feasibly achieved in the platform and what cannot be.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps validate hypotheses quickly with data, and make conversion rate optimization.

  ### 8. Can run just about any experiment I throw at it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean O. | Strategic Digital Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through LinkedIn

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I've been using Optimizely Web Experimentation for a couple of years. It can handle just about any experiment we throw at it, has a robust reporting engine, they introduce new features at a fast rate and the performance is good. It's an efficient platform to use as well. The customer support team has also been very helpful whenever we've needed them.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While mostly easy to use, you do need a basic understanding of CSS selectors and the DOM. Without that base level you'll find it a frustrating experience trying to select the right element to change or measure.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us understanding the effectiveness of our landing pages and key customer journeys, supporting all areas of our business.

  ### 9. Impressive capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The live editor allowing you make customizations on the fly is an exceptional tool. Its easy to implement, use, and unlike anything we've used before. It really put the power in the right hands and decouples the engineering dependencies from the experimentation process. Also, the edge capabilities are really powerful in delivering an optimized experience for our customers.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The downside we've seen is from a testing perspective and having an ability to force yourself into one of the variations. It would be great for our QA team to be able to decide which version they want and ultimately be able to test any version at their discretion.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More performant tools than competitors. Edge capabilities are a huge plus.

  ### 10. A solid CRO testing platform for websites

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

This reviewer's identity has been verified by our review moderation team. They have asked not to show their
name, job title, or picture.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There are a wide range of tests that I can run using the platform: A/B, A/B/n, multivariate, multi-arm bandit and 'stats accelerators'.

The trigger options allow me to quite easily target discreet customer segments by device type, or browser type, or by another specific behaviour. I've also done tests using custom JavaScript to suppress tests for more sensitive customer segments.

I like the reporting dashboard, which is good for conducting dip checks on how specific tests are performing across different browser and device types - and for seeing how a test is performing over time.

I also like the fact I can set a test to roll out to 5% of traffic, conduct a few post-live checks and then quickly duplicate the test and roll it out to 100% of eligible traffic.

Customer support tickets are via email and I usually receive a response within a few hours, which is good.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The visual page building tool is quite basic and could do with a refresh. It means that you more or less have to know HTML and CSS to build your own simple tests, and JavaScript for anything more complicated.

Many CRO practitioners will use Bayesian probability alongside Frequentist statistics if traffic volumes are smaller for specific tests. The reporting dashboard defaults to statistical significance - so Bayesian needs inclusion.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company wants more customers to convert using digital channels. To do this, we need to be able to reliably test different designs and features to understand what works best from a customer perspective. Optimizely gives us a solid platform to do this, which we also integrates reasonably with our data warehouse and analytics tools. This means we can tag customer segments using Optimizely and then clean the data, and be able to make more confident business decisions about what to implement.

  ### 11. A Solid Product, After Implementation Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom H. | Senior Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through a business email account

**Incentivized:** This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There are plenty of configuration options, which helps ensure we're running experiments under the right circumstances, or for the correct user groups.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It was difficult to implement, and it's rather sensitive to different technical environments. This won't be immediately apparent. It could result in extended deployment times and many calls with various Optimizely teams.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an excellent A/B testing platform once it's up and running. We're able to run multiple experiments at once, yet still get clear performance reporting data while doing so.

  ### 12. Fast and flexible, best partner you can have if you love to experiment.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Incredibly easy to plan, rollout, and track tests. And much faster and cheaper than running it through your dedicated dev team. The onboarding team was very knowledgeable and flexible. Great partner to have on your side.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There's a bit of learning curve, but not too difficult. Overall, worth the effort.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been working on maximizing the conversion on website traffic. This platform's been able to implement a planned cadence of planning and rolling out site optimization tests to improve consumer's experience and KPI actions. Optimizely has eased the testing and analysis of the site optimization theories and tests.

  ### 13. Web experimentation is easy to implement and powerful for A/B testing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni L. | Front-End Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Validated Reviewer:** Validated through Google using a business email account

**Source: Organic:** Organic review. This review was written entirely without invitation or incentive from G2, a seller, or an affiliate.

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

what I liked most about web experimentation is how easy it is to implement, it is as simple as adding a script to our html, and the possibilities to edit code is quite powerful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

What I liked the least was the truth that very few things, it is usually a bit complicated at the beginning, for other departments to edit styles and others to implement testAB, and the basic segmentation is non-existent.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our design team can easily modify a website without the need for a developer, so implementation is usually quick and easy.

  ### 14. Exciting to finally have data behind our assumptions

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

We’re just getting started, at Century Communities. But so far, this has allowed marketing to get comfortable to get away from assumptions and lean on data but also to push this messaging to our CSuite.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

We’re too early for me to answer this. The training seems long and a bit overwhelming.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We know our website needs a larger update, but this allowed us to make small and larger changes in the interim.

  ### 15. Top Web Experimentation Platform

Optimizely Web Experimentation makes it very quick and easy to better understand the users on our website.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes, it is not totally user friendly and requires some development work to set up experiments,

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We still have a lot of questions about how our users are shopping on site, so with every A/B test we conduct, we get to know them a little bit better. That helps us work on products and features that are optimal for conversion.
