## Optimizely Web Experimentation Reviews
  ### 1. Rapid web experimentation with optimizely

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I love being able to test concepts without needing to utilize developer resources every time. The reusable extensions are very useful and easy to customize.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I don't like that our website's analytics are not able to be directly pulled into our experiments for easy reporting. The product is also very resource-heavy on our site.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

This is a great tool if you have the budget and team to support it. Packed full of helpful features to personalize an experience and there is lots of experimentation training and resources available online to help get you started. There are some areas of the application that can be a little buggy or confusing sometimes which can be frustrating, but overall the application works well and outages are resolved quickly. The QA tools within the application are limited and don't give you much in terms of helping you debug what's happening. I recommend having a detailed QA checklist to make sure the experiment is working as expected, it's easy to overlook the importance until the results start coming back wonky and you have wasted precious time and potentially lost sales due to an incorrect test setup. Another thing to keep in mind is that optimizely web tracking/targeting is based on browser cookies which are becomming less and less reliable with major browsers clearing cookies daily.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Utilizing optimizely has helped us to test out new concepts that challenge established business practices and shift to a more customer-focused and data-driven strategy to make our conversion funnel for subscribers far more effective. Utilizing optimizely personalization campaigns and a/b tests has helped us de-risk changes in our paywall enforcement leading to increased conversion rates, increased page views and increased subscription purchases. The success of experimentation on our paywall has also led to increased leadership support for an experiment-first mentality, where any new feature we add to the site is being considered as an experiment to validate its effectiveness and iterate based on learnings.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web is very powerful, however, the learning curve can be slightly challenging in comparison to other simple experimentation tools. If you want to gain the full power of Optimizely working with javascript is essential, the WYSIWYG editing tool is very useful, although, also can be limiting.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Optimizely Web covers a multitude of experimentation methods and can be utilised by various business functions. To gain the full potential of Optimzely Web HTML, CSS and JS experience is highly recommended.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A/B testing, multi-variant testing and multi-arm bandit testing on web pages to improve web conversion metrics and the overall user experience.
Using Optimizely Web to personalize experiences to our users which in turn increase conversion metrics.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

  ### 3. Trusted Company.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is trusted for its digital experiences, content management, experimentation, and commerce. It is a database software with a variety of sources and enables fast and easy search and retrieval of granular customer information.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

the poor customer success function, its time consuming to take decisions, it can be difficult to find pages using the edit mode search, pricing is one of the major drawback

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data Platform allows the team to react quickly in the face of changing marketplaces, unexpected setbacks, or new breakthroughs. It helps you to identify opportunities and challenges.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

  ### 4. Great for A/B testing and site personalization

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael H. | Web Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It has a great set of utility functions, and you can send the preview link to your phone for testing mobile devices simply.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You must publish your experiment before being able to have the experiment run on every page concurrently. While you can do this behind a testing cookie, it is still not ideal for multipage testing.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we want to test a new feature or functionality quickly without having to go through a formal development process, this is a great way to quickly get something into production where you can control how much of your audience sees it.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Michael,
Thanks for leaving us a review. It's great to hear that Web Experimentation is providing you with effective business solutions. If you ever have any questions or insights surrounding our products, your customer success manager is always available for support or you can reach out to us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  ### 5. Optimizely is useful for bucketing, but not readouts

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Having a switchboard for controlling experiments

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Rather limited integration to our user metadata which makes the readouts really one dimensional

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't need to maintain an experiment switchboard UI

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Thanks for your review! We're happy to hear that Web Experimentation has been a beneficial tool for you and your business. As we want you to get the most out of our product, please let your Customer Success Manager know if there is any way you think we could improve its functionality. Our customers' feedback is essential in improving user experience for all users. You can also always message us at reviews@optimizely.com with any questions, insights, or suggestions.

  ### 6. Disappointing Product and Sales Experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Honestly, I wish I had never purchased this product. It use to have this easy-to-use drag and drop feature that no longer is available - I did not know when purchasing it. I feel like I was sold on ease-of-use - feel misled.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The tool is clunky and non-intuitive. It was not like this in previous iterations. I also dislike how the SVP of N. American Sales treated me - not willing to field my calls or concerns when I reached out to them. It's this kind of poor leadership that has taken this company in a different direction than I had previously experienced. Terrible product and a terrible team.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Try Google Optimize or competitor products.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were utilizing the tool for conversion rate optimization. The tool is so clunky that not much has been gained.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so sorry for your negative experience with our product and sales leadership. Our team takes confidence in our transparency with our customers, and our NA Director of Sales has shared that he is more than willing to meet with customers at any time to discuss any topics or issues they are facing. Please let us know if you would be interested in setting up a conversation through your Optimizely contact or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will connect you with the right people.

Regarding our product, our drag-and-drop editor continues to be an included functionality. We feel confident in its quality over the years but are also open to hearing any suggestions on how we could improve it to provide the best experience to our customers. Our customer base generally enjoys our drag-and-drop editor but we are happy to understand more about the specifics of your frustrations. We would also value more of your feedback surrounding the intuitiveness of our tool. You can reach us at the mailbox shared above. We look forward to hearing from you!

  ### 7. Easy to use, quick to test

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Visual editor real time testing good support

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The code editor is hard to sue sometimes,

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing different business hypothesis.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,

  ### 8. Great tool to easily configure and self service A/B tests

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has allowed our product management, design and marketing teams to create A/B tests without involvement from our developer team. There is only a small learning curve but then you are off to the races.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Resources for getting started can be a bit confusing and not as straightforward as they could be - I ended up needing to learn how to use the tool from someone at my company instead of the Optimizely docs. This was a while ago, so not sure if this has improved recently.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

You'll be able to find value that supports the cost in only a few tests if you haven't done any A/B testing before.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely solves configuring and running A/B tests quickly. It also reduces developer time which is a limited resource. The benefits are faster learnings and (for us) improved customer conversion.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We appreciate your review, it means a lot to us. It's great to hear that you've been finding great value in our Web Experimentation product. If you ever need support or suggestions to get the most out of it, please let your Customer Success Manager know, or you can shoot us a message at reviews@optimizely.com.
Thanks!

  ### 9. Great customer management resource!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has a great user-friendly interface for managing and reporting on customers in a database.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

In specific one-off scenarios, Optimizely can be limited in capabilities.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely is continuously updating their system with new features that help to expand our communication efforts with customers.

  ### 10. I used Optimizely web to make a 11% increase in checkout!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Very easy to install. Add the snippet into your website and you can start experimenting. Thevisual editor is pretty easy and intuitive to use. After a few weeks, we made a tweak to our plp and re-ordered a filter. this improved my sales by 11% and paid for the license. Very easy to use with react.js

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There could be better controls within the editor to centre text and align boxes. You also need to pay for a higher subscription to get the multi-arm bandit testing feature.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to improve CRO (click rate optimization) on checkout for a large e-commerce website. Being able to move the layout page around allowed me to test which journeys and combinations resulted in the most amount of sale

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks so much for leaving us a review! We highly value our customer's feedback, as it is key in improving user experience on our platforms. It's great to hear that Web Experimentation has already benefitted your business, illustrated by the concrete sales outcomes mentioned above. ### 11. Experimentation made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Deployment of experiments and segmentation of audiences are made easy while using optimizely.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Creating and tracking custom events through deployments of tag managers can get complicated. The support is helpful.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to provide better experiences for our users based on different preferences.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving u a review, we appreciate it! If you ever have feedback on how we can continue to improve your user experience, please feel free to share with your Customer Success Manager or you can even send us a message at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 12. Great platform, some areas to improve though

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sadie M. | CRO Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Easy to use, can track multiple elements - can paint a full picture on impact across the board
Edge is slightly better for page performance

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Impact on CWV, sometimes dubious about results
I am sure that sometimes Optimizely "fails" and some users aren't seeing control or variant. When this happens, I have some reason to believe that their actions are still tracked by metrics - if true this would basically completely hinder the validity of the results
Also now using Edge. It is so so slow to QA, which seems crazy, considering everyone will be QAing their experiment. Any small changes to code takes ages to upload to becoming live

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Yes I'd definitely recommend Optimizely:
1. Make sure your implementation is correct
2. Develop a good relationship with your account manager if you have one
3. Any questions you have, speak with your account manager whilst you try figure it out yourself - they will probably have seen it before (I only realised number 2 and 3 in the last few months and I've been using Optimizely for almost 3 years)

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Webform drop offs. Smart testing in order to improve SEO rankings.
Optimizely has enabled us to test more drastic changes, and in some areas we found that what we thought would have worked has actually tanked CR or RPV
We are able to test quite quickly thanks to the custom code editor. Custom metrics enable us to track everything we need
On paper, it feels quite limitless to what we can achieve, but see above about dislikes

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hey Sadie!
Thanks for taking the time to share your detailed review. This kind of feedback is incredibly insightful and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share with you Customer Success Manager. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 13. Optimizely is great tool for a/b testing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad A. | Frontend developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You can update DOM on the fly and tailor your experiment for your user needs. It has good analytics and you can use it to analyise your application to see how it is behaving and if your A/B testing is successful or not. If it is successful you can implement the solution to all your users permenently see the good version of your application. Optimizely UI is also very user firnedly and easy to use. It also forces you to sue to factor authentication so your account is secure and less likely to get hacked. There are also a lot of user permisisons so you can decide which user should have which kind of access. I would recommend using optimizely.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes the UI doesn't work on optimizely if you don't have the correct optimizely plugin installed and configured. It is also difficult to reset two factor authentication by the user. For example if you get a new phone and get a new authentication app then you need to contact the adminsitrator of your account to reset the two factor authentication so you can set it up and log in again otherwise you will be stuck and not able to log in to optimizely.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Optimizley is a good tool for A/B testing. If that is what you are looking for then you can try it.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to test to see how users react to specific changes and improvements, and with that, we were able to improve the user experience.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for leaving us such a thoughtful review. We're happy that you're enjoying our product. It would be great if you could raise any concerns that you've had with our product with your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. Our goal is to improve user experience for all of our customers.

  ### 14. Great tool for AB testing and Nice features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajkishore G. | Senior Experience Technologist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is being used by our dev team as well as our client's marketing team to conduct A/B tests and Personalization test on client e-commerce website to help increase conversion, average order value and other key metrics, as well as to quickly and easily make cosmetic changes until the development team can catch up and implement them on the back-end. Prior to using Optimizely, we had other tool (should I mentioned it or not; not sure) but it had so many issues working with new technologies, very hard to use by marketing team and super costly. This tools solve all of these issue. A few key features that really attracts us to work with this tool.

1. Optimizely's user interface and WYSIWYG editor are easy to use and don't require coding experience, but allows you to get dirty in JavaScript and CSS if necessary. This makes it easy for anyone to pick up and start working with it. One of the great feature is extensions where in a Dev can create sort-of prototype template for certain feature(example Popup/Lightbox) and any non-dev person or marketing team can quickly utilize that by just feeding required information (Popup/Lightbox text content). So easy and quick. Reduce the pain for dev and no support required.

2. They provide excellent and attentive support. My team have called in to their support line a few times to raise issue or ask questions on understating of tool in-depth and they were always very easy to work with and helped my team solve their problems.

3. Test results are clear and easy to read. They have great graphs and tables to help you see how different variations performed, how likely a variation is to beat the baseline, and how well that stacks up against other variations. Even with multivariate tests, the results are clear and concise.

4. The ability to add custom JavaScript and CSS per test is very convenient and makes it easy to make more detailed changes right from within Optimizely. The concept of "Shared Code" specific to test or globally is an awesome feature. Dev can split their code to keep at right place and hence load efficiently, reduces code size, execution time and device load.

5. Traffic allocation options are convenient and allow you to easily split traffic to different variations.

6. Prioritization between two experiences is also a nice feature and helps when two experiences are trying to manipulate same element to decide the order of changes taking place

7. Optimizely integration is super easy. With one line of JavaScript, you are able to install Optimizely on your website and start testing. Minor configurations may be required within the tool based on product specific requirements but never takes much time.

8. Doumentation is excellent and very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Well, this tool cover mostly all the feature you require to run a test quickly. But with new technologies and product architecture, there is always a scope to make little-little improvements. Here are some of my observations so far.

1. Depending on the page scenario, it sometimes loads pages very slowly.

2. Linting feature in this tool for JavaScript and CSS is excellent. But sometimes, it takes little time (~15-30 Sec) to load large code and switch between CSS to JavaScript editor and vice-versa. Since developers tend to have their boilerplate setup with all linting and validation, there should be a toggle to ON/OFF linting feature to increase load time.

3. Concept of profile scripting wherein we can divide an audience into two buckets randomly or based on some JavaScript logic. A feature like this will help businesses to run two A/B test parallel due to their reasons. This kind of requirement is not rare and keeps coming often. Ideally, running two A/B tests in parallel is not recommended.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

It's great if you want to do quick and easy testing by inserting a third-party script onto your page. It is also great to make quick cosmetic fixes when a deployment isn't possible. If your company has the budget, this tool/SDK is worth the investment and time saved.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Optimizely, we are doing below changes frequently.

1. Conduct A/B test on e-commerce website to help increase conversion, average order value, and other key metrics.

2. Personalization tests to run a feature on the production site for all audiences until it is developed in the backend.

3. Manipulating contents and make minor cosmetic changes through the site.

4. Quick bug fixes.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Rajkishore,
Thank you for leaving us such a detailed review, we highly value your feedback! It sounds like you've had a great experience with our platform and customer service so far, and we'd just like to remind you that we're always here to help with any inquiries or to absorb your insights surrounding your user experience. You can contact your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 15. Optimizely is a solid ab testing tool that is relatively easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krisha H. | digital marketing and experience associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

My favorite thing about Optimizely is how easy the results are to understand. I'm not great with math and numbers, but with the way optimizely is set up, you don't have to calculate anything; it's either already there on the page, or you hover over it. I also like using the editor for simple changes like color or text. It's super easy to click something on the page and make changes to it. Another thing I like is how easy it is to set up pages and audiences using the tool. There are tons of options when it comes to building an audience and all the drop downs and instructions make it super easy to do. Building and grouping pages pages is another thing made easy by the tool. I typically use this feature to group similar pages together that I want to run the same test on. Most recently I grouped all of our hospital pages together so I could run an AB test on the menu of those pages.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There are times when the website and the app you can download feel a little unstable. Sometimes the app will stop responding and go full white screen, forcing you to completely close the program and reopen it. The website can be slow at times and sometimes takes a while to load results. The results aren't always updated in real-time, like you go to a results page, and it shows the last time it updated was several hours ago, so you have to sit and wait for it to load current results. Something else I don't like is it's difficult to add new elements to the page. When I used Google Optimize, I could just drag and drop shapes and images on the page, but you can't do that with optimizely.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

I would recommend paying close attention to the amount of traffic your site gets before signing any kind of contract. Low traffic pages are challenging to test because they often don't reach signifigance.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Attempting to improve the user experience of our websites is what my team and I are mainly trying to do with Optimizely. The ab testing function gets the most use, and we generally have 5 to 10 tests running at a time. We typically decide what to test after a period of research and uncovering what our users are struggling with. The ability to quickly build tests has been one benefit of using Optimizely. We also use the personalization feature occasionally to give users a personalized experience when they come to our website.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

  ### 16. One of the best testing tools on the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared K. | VP of Marketing Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ability to test different experiences across multiple brands at the same time is fantastic. For example, we can set up a page test like if page "contains" /shop/category run these variations. This allows us to test multiple domains simultaneously under a specific type which saves us time and helps us reach Stat Sig faster in many cases.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is designed for a technical team. The average marketer will struggle to use the sophisticated features when trying to build experiments. Running simple changes to fonts, copy, button colors and etc. is easy enough, but they need to understand HTML, CSS and Javascript to really get full use out of Optimizely.

I was under the impression that it would be easier for a non-technical person to use, but after 6+ months of use I've learned this isn't the case.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving usability problems our customers are facing when using our online web platforms. We are able to test changes and modifications to see how they impact revenue and the online buying experience.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Jared,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! Our goal is to help you gain the most out of our products. If you're ever in need of support or would like to share insights on your experience with the platform, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 17. Highly functional and responsive web experimentation platform with a lot of flexibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeet G. | Software Development Intern(IT ECommerce), Retail, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely experimentation platform with its newest UI update by making the process of setting up and running an experiment seamless. I appreciate the platform's integration abilities with other platforms like Segment. Also, the flexibility to send attributes in an experiment that can be used to run results segmentation is very useful during analysis. The customer success team does a great job at responding to any tickets and resolving them.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Nothing much that I can think of except for the lack of ability to auto cleanup already existing experiments. Also, the character length limit for an event makes naming tracking events a little tricky.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that I am trying to solve with Optimizely is making business decisions easier for the executive team by running experiments to prove or disprove any hypotheses. The ability to test-run any new change idea and calculating that change's effect on the guardrail metrics and evaluators is invaluable to make a confident executive decision. Being on the growth team, I try to focus on increasing the DAU, MAU and QAU by running new ideas as experiments to lure in new customers by making the UX seamless.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Jeet,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! It's great to hear that you've had such a positive experience with our customer success team. Please always feel free to share any insights or inquiries with your customer success manager, or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 18. Optimizely is all-around an excellent testing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is easy to get started with, but can also scale. It can be very detailed and advanced. Optimizely as a company is a leader in the space, and their testing strategy and methods reflect that. Their tool provides efficient, effective and well supported testing, and also resources on how to be a more effective optimizer.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The REGEX URL fields lack definition and clarity. It would be helpful if it provided a bit more description of what was required in that field.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Optimizely Experimentations has great training and support, and the tool is easy to use while also having options for high levels of detail. Definitely would recommend.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are running most AB tests and some multivariate tests through Optimizely. Through the use of Optimizely, we have found ways to decrease friction, increase click through rates, and increase our lead volume.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, we highly value your feedback! It's great to hear that you're enjoying our product and that you've felt supported by our team. We'd like to remind you to always feel welcome in sharing any inquiries or insights on how we could improve your user experience with your Customer Success Manager or leave us a message at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 19. Does nothing special, can be frustrating

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike A. | Senior insight development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Makes it easy to make tiny changes to the site - simple metrics are easy to add, can be used by non technical users.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Requires writing workarounds to achieve anything remotely useful - if we want to implement a feature and trial it in optimizely, we have to write it _around_ optimizely. It seems the tool works against us, not with us. I feel it's overpriced for what it's doing. Still cannot upload a list of custom metrics to add and have to painstakingly do them individually. Dependence on jquery selectors is problematic for dynamic menus. Tech support terrible - unwilling to fix problems.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Have involved developers. Consider other options - many other products do similar things.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trialing new features, A/B testing new experiences...all of this is doable, if you're willing to put the time in.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Mike,
We are so sorry to hear about your experience. Our goal is to continuously improve user experience and we would greatly appreciate it if you could reach out to your customer success manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com to speak about these issues.
Thank you.

  ### 20. Simple to use for the marketer with advanced options for developers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Extremely simple to use interface makes it an easy-to-use platform from the outset. As a non-technical user, I can create simple experiences and add metrics that my developers have created before.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Ultimately a developer is needed for more complex experiments or setting up goals aside from simple pageview or button clicks. We do most experiments using the development team and through them have created some complicated experiments with all the metrics we would want to track and more.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Typically we run a conversion rate optimization program through Optimizely and test any new design ideas, which I would imagine is the primary use case for Optimizely. In the past, we have also used it to quickly (and temporarily) change the website behavior without requiring a development release.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We appreciate your review! We love to hear that you've been finding great use in Web Experimentation. Please share any insights like these with your Customer Success Manager so we can continue to improve your user experience and build on your success. You can also always message us at reviews@optimizely.com.
Thank you.

  ### 21. The best tool for experimentation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Luxury Goods & Jewelry | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I like the Stats engine (a very good calculation system for significance), attributes and extensions

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

From the point of view of my customer, they would like to have a quick and easy way to set up widgets. From my point of view, I can't see an overall look on A/B tests on the long term: I had the need to see which A/B test we already run on a certain page, and which have been winning and which one are inconclusive. I have also other ideas:
- have a safer way to have a cluster sampling, for instance I add before to run experiment the audience and some "subaudience" on which I want to go deep (i.e. audience: mobile, sub audience iphone X, Android phones).
- a better Documentation about recommendation implementation and a more developed feature on this (i.e. default extension for recommendation, more algorithms, a way to customize the algorithm and not only the filtering).
The sample size calculator and a "tools" area could also be included, to have always the best practices for A/B testing available. If I have something more in mind, I will reach to you.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

It is the best tool in order to test anything on the front end. It's very reliable on the stats part and let you understand easily the impact of your design choices.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Optimisation of the CRO, increasing add to bag rate, and checkout conversion rate
- UX fixes on dark partterns or unusable behaviors on site
- Personalisation and product recommendations
- special communications for marketing purposes (i.e. communicating the reopening of the retail stores on site only for local users)

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review! We love to hear that you're highly satisfied with our product. Our goal is to continuously improve user experience and it would be helpful if you could share your feedback and inquiries with your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 22. Used Optimizely near 1 year to create experiments and campaigns for one of Popular UK Ecom Web.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I've used Google Optimize for more than two years to create A/B tests and personalization experience with our Ecommerce website. Then came across Optimizely and setup up several A/B tests/personalization experiences with it as well. The unique features I noticed and seemed helpful are

The ability to pause an ongoing experiment without ending it and retaining whatever the test results up to that point until we resume or stop the experiment.
can share a preview URL of each variant in an A/B test with any co-worker or team leads without publishing the experiment to Production
Shared code feature which we can define a common Java script that is global to all the variants in a particular experiment and project JS, which is shared among all experiments in a project
minimizing the redundancy and increasing productivity
scheduling experiment
additional inbuilt support for JQuery support
integrations with other 3rd party tools and frameworks.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is working better in Google Chrome, and in other browsers, it crashes most of the time.
Sometimes it crashes several times in Google Chrome as well.
Several times we have observes experiments are not behaving differently in different devices in Browser stacks and real devices.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UI and site content Personalization experience, which needs to be done urgently and cannot go with a change in the codebase due to the strict release cycles.
A/B tests for Site contents and UI changes targetting marketing strategies before moving to Live.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hey!
Thanks for taking the time to leave us such a detailed review. It would help us if you could share any of your concerns or inquiries with your Customer Success Manager or reach out to us at reviews@optimizely.com. We're always trying to refine our user experience, and your input could help us do so!

  ### 23. Powerful and easy to use tool for A/B testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Setting up experiments can be very easy. If you're new to website testing, Optimizely is relatively simple to configure and understand results. Documentation is also beneficial and thorough for getting started. Personalization can also be very powerful for testing different content elements for different segments.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely can require a highly technical skillset to get the most out of the capabilities, which can hinder a marketer with limited dev resources.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Marketing teams should ensure there is a developer on hand to help push experiments and optimizations forward so you can get the full potential of the tool.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick content and element changes do not require requesting a developer to work on, which helps save time and get experiments out quicker.

A/B testing to see what works for increasing conversion rates, and this is the platform to do that and compare results all in one place.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello,
Thanks for leaving us a review! It's great to hear that you're loving our platform. If you're ever in need of additional support to gain the most out of our platform, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. We're here to help!

  ### 24. Great platform for A/B testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Slava B. | Senior Full Stack Software Engineer & Scrum Master , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The things that I like the most:
- It is very easy to setup an experiment: choose audience (who will participate), choose target pages (where you want to start you experiment) and pick the metrics (what you expect to improve), describe how you want to achieve the result (provide javascript and/or css)
- When experiment is running, usually it takes just a quick glance to understand the results
- To validate your assumptions you can always add more metrics to the launched experiment or you can filter data to show a particular user segment

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes you want to know the user bucket before you render a page. For this, you need to use optimizely full-stack.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to make data-driven decisions and we use optimizely as a tool to validate our assumptions. We use Optimizely A/B tests as one of our Discovery techniques. And for some product changes, we use optimizely to simply validate that we didn't introduce a bug/

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Slava,
Thanks for leaving us a review, we highly value your feedback. If any more questions or concerns arise in the future, please don't hesitate to address them with your Customer Success Manager or message us reviews@optimizely.com. We're here to help!

  ### 25. It'a s good tool with lots of capability, but you have to know how to use it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The tool is giving perfect options to different types of tests, and this is boarding the spectrum of creating tests and covering most test cases possible in a very safe and easy-to-use environment. The integration with other tools (project management, ticket tracking, etc.) is easy and very helpful so eng can keep track on their work and tests.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I don't like that you can link issues only from Optimizely to Jira but not vice versa - from Jira to Optimizely.
Also, it's very annoying that you have to be a SQL savy (or remember them) to find your issues in Jira while trying to link them from Optimizely, they do not alway appear as your "recetly viewed issues".

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

It's a great tool, especially if companies want to make sure that they send a high-quality product in the wild (iNet) and want to make sure that they meet their client's expectations of product. Having test-driven development and being data-driven in one's decision is the future of providing better service and high-quality software, applications or services.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely is helping us being a more Data-Driven Decision organization as it provides us with the ability to see what our customer's are happy about, how they behaive and what we can improve. Optimizely gives us the oportunity to try new approaches to test and to analise the behaviours instate of guessing or spending large amount of time testing with real clients. Also, I shall mention the ability to be more personal in our digital transformation and we have shorten the path to get to our clients oppinion in more sequre and safe way.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a detailed review! We're happy to hear that Web Experimentation has been such a useful tool for your business. Whenever you have any questions or concerns, we would appreciate it if you could share those with your Customer Success Manager or connect with us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 26. My go-to web experimentation tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Once you know how everything works and you have your key pages / conversion metrics set up, you can get basic CRO tests up and running quite quickly. Range of editing options is great, if I need something more advanced than the WYSIWYG editor we will just make a new page and split traffic between them.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The implementation interface is more complicated than it needs to be. I feel like some of the best practices are ones I've picked up myself over time rather than from any training. You really need to do some work outside of the platform to get the most out of it (experimentation catalog, naming convention to pull exp info into Salesforce etc).

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Setting up a testing framework early will stop you from just running a bunch of one-off tests. I'd recommend keeping a detailed excel sheet of experiments, along with a powerpoint that shows the before/after as well as the metric difference for quick reference.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely is our go-to for testing new messaging, improving the conversion rate on landing pages, testing new page layouts, testing navigation elements, any pipeline impacting changes really.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! We value your loyalty. Please make sure to share your concerns or inquiries with your Customer Success Manager or contact us at reviews@optimizely.com. We're here to help you get the most out of our platform.

  ### 27. Great customer support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Customer support at Optimizely has been top-notch. Every rep I've worked with had a great attitude towards helping us, even when we were a bit lost. After a brief working session set up by our rep, we were able to marry our company testing needs to the specifications of the Optimizely platform and developed a more robust and agile testing process overall. We've been chugging along much more efficiently ever since.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Could use more development support and enablement. As a marketer, I'm not 100% familiar with scripts and website coding--and that often becomes a barrier to setting up tests.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Segment personalization on our website: we've seen over a 100% increase in website performance in our targeted segments.
A/B testing: by running various tests, we've developed a better sense of how to increase conversions. We've also gained robust data to send to our development team when trying to justify requesting a website alteration.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and we love to hear that you're finding success with our platform. We're here to help you get the most out of our products, so please feel welcome to reach out to your Customer Success Manager so we can find the solutions that work best for you. ### 28. Its extremely good for A/B testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I have been using this product for one and half years, it's an excellent application, and many advanced features are available.

1) It is an excellent tool for A/B testing.
2) It has a great set of utility functions, and you can simply run from mobile devices too.
3) You can use simple Html, CSS, and Javascript.
4) Run multiple experiments at a time.
5) Easy for non-technical users to create, start and analyze any experiment.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

1) Once you start/stop the experiment, it will take 1 to 2 minutes to reflect.
2) There is no option to schedule the experiment from multiple locations.
3) Web editors freeze frequently and do not respond appropriately. The app is better than the web editor.
4) Required good knowledge in Javascript to create some features (For example, auto-enabled/disabled date-timer, specific target users with their names, etc.)
5) Unable to use js frameworks(Jquery) parameters.
6) It's not open source, and prices are a bit expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

So far, it is a good tool. Try to add drag and drop options to keep images, videos, icons into folders.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) We are using it for a variety of purposes—alignment on marketing campaigns.
2) Business decisions easier for the executive team..
3) It is good with Server side, because it doesn't result in any page slow down or re-render on page load.
4) Using A/B tests, we have noticed increase click through rates, and increase our lead volume.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thank you for your detailed review! It's great to gain these insights on our customers' experience with our platform. If you ever feel that we could improve your user experience, please don't hesitate to share your thoughts with your Customer Success Manager. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com with any inquiries or feedback.

  ### 29. Easy and powerful A/B testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optmizely Web makes it so easy to run A/B tests. Normally, it takes multiple days to release new code to our customers. With Optimizely Web, we can instantly run experiments without having to release new code. This leads to an extremely fast feedback loop. After a few weeks of using Optimizely Web, we had identified multiple points of friction in our funnels. We also identified multiple tweaks that led to a higher conversion rate. The WYSIWYG editor allows you to overlay powerful changes on top of your site (without having to modify your site's code directly). And as a developer, it even lets you modify JavaScript, which is extremely powerful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Making complex JavaScript changes to Optmizely Web can be tricky, especially when using more sophisticated technologies like React or Vue. In our experience, it might be better to consider Optimizely Full Stack for some of these complex scenarios. Still, Optimizely Web is very powerful.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

If you'd like to run A/B tests with minimal hassle and high confidence, I'd highly encourage you to check out Optimizely Web.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ultimately, we are trying to reduce friction and increase our conversion rate. We could talk to customers directly, but the feedback loop would be much shorter. With Optimizely Web, we've been able to run dozens of successful A/B tests per week, and ultimately increase the conversion rate of our sales funnels.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for your detailed review! It's great to hear that you're finding success with our platform. We're constantly striving to improve user experience for all of our customers. If you ever have more insights, please don't hesitate to share with your Customer Success Manager or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com. We're also always available for support.

  ### 30. Great tool for small scale website experimentation and testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea S. | Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Great toolset available for a marketer: design, tracking, testing guidelines, and ability to get results.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Slightly limited in creative optimization

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Ensure you have a roadmap of what you want to test. Priority the tasks and set KPI's for each test. If you do not clearly understand what you want to test and how the results will improve your business objectives, it will not as useful.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How users are behaving on specific website pages, exiting out, abandoning forms, heat maps, and hovers

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review, it means a lot to us here at Optimizely. Always make sure to share your user insights into our tools with your Customer Success Manager, so that we can continue to improve your experience with our products. You can also message any insights or inquiries to reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 31. An easy and intuitive way to test experiments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You can setup a test for your website in minutes without any hassle, and you can preview every change as you go. Even with little knowledge, the interface allows you to use the system fairly easily.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes, the loading times when creating experiments can be a little longer than expected (which is understandable) but also on the live website pageload times, possibly bringing a negative impact on the users' experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

While a simple and user-friendly platform, I'd suggest training/tutorial sessions that make navigation and test setup much more straightforward.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Experiments with Optimizely can bring a lot of interesting insights about how our clients perceive our platform, but also to pinpoint precisely where our lowlights are to work on them and improve the UX on our site, resulting in better conversion rates.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks so much for leaving us a review! We highly value your feedback and it's great to hear that you're finding such success with our platform. If you're ever in need of support or would like to share any insights on how you think we could improve, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 32. The best option for web experimentation, particularly A/B testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle S. | UI Design Mentor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Like other great software, it's easy to get started but has a lot of depth. I use it primarily for A/B tests from everything to simple text changes to entire different branches and processes. It's quick to get running an experiment and get actual data to make decisions. So far I haven't run into a test that Optimizely couldn't work with so very happy and is a standard tool for nearly every project.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It's not the software itself but once teams start using this, they'll want to A/B test everything. Pricing of course puts this out of reach of a lot of organizations that could use it so will always be undercut by others for half the price with 80% of the features.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to make design, business and marketing decisions. An example is with COVID, we had an alert banner on our site and we used Optimizely to quickly adjust the messaging and whether it was on by default.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We're happy to hear about your satisfaction with our product! If you're ever in need of support or would like to share insights into your user experience, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. We're here to help!
Thank you.

  ### 33. Good bones, but losing competitive advantage fast

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trevor A. | Site Testing (CRO) Evangelist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has built out a massive library of training materials, both for the product itself, and how to manage an experimentation program. For companies where the primary optimization team is inexperienced or onboarding new personnel, this is invaluable. In fact, these materials are what got me started digging deeper into CRO 5+ years ago.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely used to have much more compelling pricing and features. Over the years, the pricing has continued to go up at a rate faster than competitors, and the feature set within the product has been improving at a slower rate compared to the broader testing tool market.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an organization, we signed with Optimizely to improve our test reporting and to accelerate our deployment of split tests (we have an internal tool as well). Deployment was certainly faster, for a time, but when we got into more complex testing scenario,s Optimizely's difficulties with SPAs ended up bring our velocity right back down to where it was previously.

  ### 34. Optimizely is great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It's clearly the market leading software at the moment, constant upgrades, great UI etc.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I don't dislike anything, however, the acquisiton by Episerver scares me a bit as I went through what happened to Maxymiser (previously best before Oracle bought it and gutted it). It seems to be the way that these good startups get bought up and then the parent company doesn't understand what made the company so good, tries to integrate it and then fluffs its lines. The original company degrades, prices go up, R&D goes down, etc etc. Please don't let this happen.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Support staff keep changing, not actually sure best way to raise tickets, feels very 'one and done' now you've got the cash/contract signed....as above, if this is how it is under Episerver, I'm not impressed and will check VWO out.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a fairly robust experimentation programme and Optimizely is the cornerstone of that. We're constantly A/B testing ideas and seeing tangible £ benefit from it.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
It's great to hear that you're enjoying your experience with our platform so far! We'd love to get some time with you to address your concerns mentioned above, as our goal is to help you get the most out of our services. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager to schedule a time, or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right folks.

  ### 35. Makes testing easy!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary C. | Sr Manager, Paid Digital Media, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Once you get the hang of it, the platform is pretty easy to use and it allows for a big range of testing to be done. We use this all the time to help us dynamically change paid search landing pages easily - which has made testing such a dream! MUCH easier than trying out Google Experiments within the platform.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It does take a minute to get accustomed to the platform, and there is definitely a learning curve getting things setup and tracked correctly - especially when you have more "complex" things to measure and need to put the data in other systems (like Google Analytics).

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for a variety of purposes, but personally, I have had the most success in paid search testing. We can easily test landing page experiences, and it's allowed us to be very nimble in our testing and to maximize our conversion volume and spend efficiency. It's a great complement to any/all paid advertising initiatives.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Zachary,
Thanks so much for leaving us a review- we really appreciate it! We're happy to hear that you're finding success with our products. If you ever find yourself in need of of support or feel that our platform can be improved in some way, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 36. For all your marketing team's quick tests

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergio C. | Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation allows for the marketing team is test quick layouts, headlines, and colors whenever needed to continuously improve the user experience and improve conversion rate overall. It's very easy to use once everything is set up by the engineering teams where it can be used self service or low maintaince by tech teams.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Requires engineering work to get started but that's hardly a dislike since what does not? Offline metrics for success can be a challenge to integrate but once the data flows in its great.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

If you're looking to level up your CRO or internal web testing programs look no further than Optimizely. I've used other products on the market which can be similarly used but the interface and test set up is way more modern than other products out there.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alignment on marketing campaigns. We are able to have congruent messaging go out to market and quickly change headlines of messaging to personalize the page to match the ad content.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Sergio,
We're happy to hear that Optimizely is working so well for you and your business! Our team is always here if you have any insights or inquiries. You can reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.
Thanks!

  ### 37. I have used Optimizely both client-facing and in-house and I think it's great!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The results screen is easy to comprehend. I also like the stats engine that Optimizely uses so that it can declare significance anytime throughout the duration of the test. No test duration calculation needed!

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Organization of experiments. I wish that I could group tests into folders. We have a few different teams that work on our site (acquisition/post-purchase) so it would be nice to be able to keep our experiments separate, as well as group my own experiments by the landing page.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

I recommend using this platform.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team is subscription-based so we place a significant emphasis on lifetime revenue. The issues we are trying to solve with Optimizely are increasing conversion rate and increasing the take rate of our annual offer. By shifting the sku mix towards our annual offer, rather than the free trial or monthly offer, we increase the lifetime revenue. We do testing on the landing pages as well as on our quiz and offers page to accomplish this goal. Personalization is also in our roadmap.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for your review! We're so happy to here that you're enjoying our products and they're providing you with effective business solutions. Your Customer Success Manager would love to hear insights such as these or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people. Talk Soon!

  ### 38. Strong A/B Testing Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Very easy to set up. The most significant point of differentiation is that it is not clunky. VWO - you often run into weird issues with the platform not working or it displaying oddly. With Optimizely, this happens far less. From what I know, these are the two biggest competitors in the space. I think targeting and audiences are also much more straightforward. You can also add a cookie so you can QA without setting the experiment live for the public.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You should be able to delete changes from the main variant screen. You should also be able to add comments about changes so you can label them and quickly tell what the change is on the main screen. They also said you could track across projects if you use the same project ID for all. But when we tried to do this, Optimizely let us know that this only works about 60% of the time, which is pretty ridiculous to have sold it as something functional.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because its so easy to use, every product manager quickly picked it up, and then we trained the growth marketing team on Optimizely so they could run their own experiments. Overall we are able to have greater inertia behind our testing program and it we've made it more robust. We are realizing conversion rate gains, as well as learnings on what works and what doesnt.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review! Your insights can help us on our continuous journey in enhancing our products. Please reach out to your customer success manager with any feedback you may have or for support. You can also always message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 39. A tool that thinks of everything

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

As someone who works agency-side I'm exposed to various experimentation tools, Optimizely being a common one for enterprise-level organizations. Beyond the intuitive interface I have to say that Optimizely is constantly pushing boundaries by keeping up with client needs, data science, and evolutions with experimentation practices. Introducing products like Performance Edge and Rollouts show they are in touch with the current needs of experimenters. This plus fantastic documentation for various scenarios that are helpful for both advanced developers and high-level strategists.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Have had a bit of trouble with Adobe Analytics x Optimizely.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

If business size and budget allow, this is a GREAT tool to use for your internal experimentation program.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an experimentation strategist Optimizely is our tool for validation. Every strategy we put forth is tested and Optimizely makes that process easy to do. The visual editor is on par with any other tool, if not more intuitive. As I'm not a developer I can't comment too much about custom code or deeper experience development. Results are easy to interpret, well-visualized and they do a good job explaining the impacts of having a large variety metrics on one test.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
It's great to hear that Optimizely is working so well for you and your business! If you are ever in need of support or have any user insights, your customer success manager would love to hear from you. Or, you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.
Thanks!

  ### 40. Sophisticated AB Testing Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely allows teams to set up an ecosystem for a continuous experimentation program at your company. The Web Experimentation tool is sophisticated and reliable. The knowledge base, academy and support documentation is thorough and easily accessible.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation has a steep learning curve and requires some training to get new users up to speed. It would be nice to have a stronger collaboration framework set up to help manage the process of getting a test set up. It would also be helpful to have a built-in system for sharing results of tests across teams.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

It is a fantastic tool, but like all AB testing platforms, it requires dedicated resources to set up and maintain the tool in an impactful way.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Split URL tests when launching redesigned pages have helped us mitigate risk and get buy-in for dramatic changes to the UX of our site.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi!
Thanks for your review! We appreciate hearing about our users' experiences with our products. Your customer success manager would love to hear more of your insights and is always available to you for any support you may need. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com with any questions or concerns.

  ### 41. Intuitive platform for A/B testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I love how intuitive the interface is and how easily I, who am not technical, can very quickly set up experiments, edit HTML/CSS, and quickly analyze results. I also love how our web engineers can very quickly set up a test for landing page designs, more easily than our web platform (Wordpress).

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I would love more options to share the experiment data with others (not just a CSV, but an actual display of the graphs and variations).

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Excellent tool for A/B testing for landing page optimization and web testing. Very intuitive for non-technical and technical roles (perfect for marketers without deep analytics expertise)

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've had some issues with Optimizely using code from the Wordpress site (base page). I'm not sure the exact cause, but often times there will be issues with spacing and design elements not looking correct.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review, we really appreciate it. It would be great if you could share any insights on how you think we could improve user experience with your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. We are also always available to provide you with support!

  ### 42. Most powerful experimentation tool I use, but still with room to grow in terms of data management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ease with which I can create and inject components, styles, and scripts is stunning; the WebX platform allows for previously unheard-of flexibility in a development cycle.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Creating metrics and managing data in the results is not intuitive, and sifting through the data is difficult. Passing the data along to other analytics tools (such as GA) does not make the data easier to cross-reference and parse.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Bug your CMS regularly for extra training regarding their JS API and their upcoming feature-sets

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our process of developing a complete e-commerce solution for our customers, we've rapidly been able to iterate and create solutions using Optimizely. The experimentation platform allows us to isolate and define problems with ease. We've increased the number and quality of our conversions and improved the overall user experience in the process.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a detailed review! We highly value your feedback. It would be great if you could reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com so we can discuss solutions for your concerns.

  ### 43. Good platform for basic A/B testing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I like that the reporting is very clear and concise. The metrics are also great and easy to set up. I've used this primary for A/B testing different graphics and metrics to gauge customer engagement.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The visual seelctor is diffcult to use and inaccurate. it is much better to have some basic coding knoweldge and use the selector to specify exactly what element it is you want to edit.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

It is a great platform but some basic levels of coding and how web pages are built is required.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used optimizely to do A/B testing of onsite graphics and messaging to see which led to higher customer engagement. We could then take this knowledge to tailor our marekting messages in a way that will lead to higher click through rates, clicks, and longer session times.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, we highly value your feedback! Whenever you have any inquiries or insights surrounding your user experience, contacting your Customer Success Manager or messaging us at reviews@optimizely.com is a great first step in finding solutions that work best for you.

  ### 44. A mature solution for frontend A/B testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ronne V. | Frontend Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely's custom targeting capabilities are crucial to running experiments exactly when and where you want them to run. Besides some quick and easy targeting options, you can write your own JavaScript targeting logic which is really helpful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Integrating Optimizely Web with Google Analytics could take some effort, depending on your setup.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Optimizely provides a visual editor, but stay away from it; get a JavaScript/frontend developer to develop your A/B tests.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely helped us tremendously improving our site in a fact-based manner. Thanks to Optimizely we've been able to run complex experiments resulting in millions of additional revenue.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Ronne,
Thanks so much for leaving us a review, we highly value you feedback. It would be great if you could share these insights with your Customer Success Manager, as we are always trying to improve user experience on the platform. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people!

  ### 45. Marketing related web experiments for FreshBooks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The straightforward approach for most things.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The non-reactive parts. E.g. parts that don't immediately reflect what I do. Plus not-so-great web (dev) related docs (most are for full stack). The not-so-great GTag/Analytics support within the app.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Read up on docs and experiment by doing trial and error. Also try and rely mostly on your local code and less on HTML/CSS/JS code that can be written within Optimizely.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're doing A/B or multi-variant tests that are purely marketing related. It has helped us tremendously in doing split tests and assigning users to variations + testing all scenarios. Some minor issues with HTML elements that I created and have not been able to re-use on other parts (I know about blocks but these are not as modular as I hoped).

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hello There,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! We enjoy learning about our customers and their experiences with our platform. Please feel welcome in sharing these insights with your Customer Success Manager or you can message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

  ### 46. Excellent platform, we use this on the regular which increases revenue, also prefer the UI over GO.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John L. | F, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ease of use - it's a lot more user-friendly to get a test off the ground and results are easily obtained.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The checkout end of the funnel, where it will not reliably select elements if a cross domain issue is found. You cannot revisit changes as it has lost the DOM.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Give it a try. You'll not go back to GO.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are always looking for ways to improve our checkout optimisation for our anonymous client. This gives us real gains with regards to CRO, improving overall conversion on each iteration.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi John,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! It's great to hear that you're finding experimentation success with our platform. If you have any insights or suggestions based off of your experience, please feel free to share them with your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. You can also always contact us for any support you may need.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Toggle management for UI and backend features

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

UI interface can get tricky for product owners

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Take advantage of Optimizely live sessions

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us enable and disable toggles with ease

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

  ### 48. Optimixely Web Experimentation

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

What I enjoyed about Optimizely was the ability to easily A/B test and organize the testing appropriately

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

What I did not like was that there was no tied in insights to those testing like heat maps and screen recordings

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

I would look into being more competitive with the services of VWO

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While we were using the program we were using it to optimize our conversion funnel.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review! We’re sorry to hear that Optimizely Web Experimentation did not meet your full expectations throughout your use of our product. Regarding the lack of heat maps and screen recordings, these are features we would love to add in the future, but we are currently focusing on other projects which are meeting the needs of a wider range of customers. If you would like to contact us with any more insights or questions, please leave us a message at reviews@optimizely.com and we’ll connect you with the right people.

  ### 49. Optimizely is a decent AB testing solution that is easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob P. | Global SEO Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The aspect of Optimizely that I liked the most is how easy it is to create an experiment. As I do not come from an IT background I am not able to code, so having a tool that allows me to make small changes to a landing pages CTA for example is really powerful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ability to add comments about changes you have made would have been really useful. Sometimes it is difficult to keep track of the updates. you have made during the experiment phase!

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Pricing can vary so definitely worth checking this beforehand.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've mostly been using Optimizely to test our various CTAs on blog posts. Being able to test various positions, text and design of the CTA is really powerful for us.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Rob,
Thanks for sharing your feedback! We love to hear about our customers' journey with our platform. If you ever have any suggestion on how we could improve your user experience or if you need support, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com.

  ### 50. Good platform

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The platform is easy to use for non devs

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Platform is a little stale. Few improvements

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick fixes in production and A/B testing

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**
