## Optimizely Web Experimentation Reviews
  ### 1. Effortless A/B Testing with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emin U. | Technical Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I use Optimizely Web Experimentation for A/B testing. I found it was easy to integrate, and the web interface is really self-intuitive. The APIs are well designed, which saves development time and lets us launch experiments fast. The automatic customer distinction and data management features are excellent, providing valuable insights. The intuitive interface also allows non-technical team members to set up and monitor tests independently, significantly speeding up our decision-making process. Plus, the integration with shared libraries was straightforward, only requiring adding a dependency and two lines of code for each project.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The reporting and analytic dashboards could be more detailed and customizable. More granular segmentation options in reports, like filtering results by device, location, user behavior, type etc. Exporting raw data could be more easy.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation lets us test features on small groups to see if they attract or repel customers, saving development time with well-designed APIs and automatic customer distinctions. Its intuitive interface allows non-technical team members to set up tests independently, speeding up decision-making.

  ### 2. User-Friendly with Valuable Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bernadette M. | Digital Marketing Specialist

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I like that Optimizely Web Experimentation is user-friendly and easy to set up even for a non-technical person. It's great that it provides real data instead of relying on individual and biased opinions. The initial setup was very easy and doesn't require much technical intervention.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I find that it could provide more data on users to help analyze the type of users attracted to specific landing pages.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation provides real data for decision-making, eliminating biased guesses about user preferences.

  ### 3. Optimizely's Web Experimentation is a great tool for experimenters

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ilona L. | Website Optimisation Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is the tool I use at work most of the time. I really like how intuitive and user-friendly it is. I can easily build and manage my experiments. It is very comprehensive in terms of the functionality it offers and can probably solve most use cases. They have extensive information for marketers and developers available in their help centre. Customer support has always been helpful and prompt to answer our questions. Additionally, Optimizely regularly releases new updates to make it even easier to use and manage your experimentation programme.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It takes a bit of time to learn the tool and all its ins and outs, but once you do, you realise how straightforward it is, although it can be quite overwhelming at first. Another thing to note is that it's quite a pricey solution, which is not surprising, given that it's constantly marketed as best in class by Gartner.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely helps us to improve our user journeys and customer experience on the website. It helps us to make better decisions and drive extra revenue.

  ### 4. Reputable brand for basic experimentation and helpful support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I like that the brand is reputable and the platform is useful for basic experimentation. The UI makes the platform easy to use and understand. I also have had little to no issues with something not working.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I think some small things about the UI can be improved. There is not much that I dislike but more of things that I think can be improved for better user experience.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to split traffic for several AB tests at a large volume. We do not rely on the metrics reporting as much, because we use our own BQ data. The main value of optimizley for us is splitting traffic through an experiment ID. That is helping us identify winning tests and rolling them out at scale, helping increase the incremental revenue for the business.

  ### 5. Powerful tool that we need to use to step our CRM and Martech flows to the next level

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ability for non-technical users to execute experiments on our homepage and iterate more quickly than is currently possible by our teams. Also, the highlighting of how we can potentially use AI to supercharge this side of personalisation and content experimentation for our business. Integrating and implementing has been easy throughout.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

In our case it's not necessarily a dislike about the tool, I think it's more about getting the right teams to know what features are offered. I think experimentation at our organisation is still seen as something owned completely by data, but web experimentation democratizes that, and should therefore be adopted by other teams like Martech and Marketing to a deeper extent than is currently done.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster iteration over content-based experiments for our website homepage. However again, we're not getting as much as we should out of this part of the software.

  ### 6. A great product, with responsive support when needed

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is a great A/B & personalisation tool. It considers usage of the tool thoughtfully, and manages to balance flexibility and customisation, with simplicity.

When things don't quite go well, or are hard to find, their support is second to none. Someone usually responds to a ticket within a day or two.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

We have had some issues with the configuration of SSO, along with our system. There is an assumption that email is the login ID for SSO. There is however a workaround for this.

Another key thing missing, especially after having used a competitor's tool, is the ability to prioritise multiple personalisation activities within the same page.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows us to experiment and personalise to make the user experience on our website simpler (hopefully).

  ### 7. A great platform for validating hypothesises and Conversion Rate Optimization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian H. | Head of Product, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Both the speed with which you can undertake experiements and changes, meaning you can validate lots of hypothesises in a short space of time, and the ability to have reassuances on the data impacts (and calculation of statisitcal significance). The WYSIWYG editor significant helps team members with low technical accumen. Have had great help with Optimizelys customer support team.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Dependent on the change, your tech stack needs to be able to work with Optimizely. Some of the tests that you feel could easily be accomplished in Optimizely Web, prove to be more difficult, and there is a reasonable learning curve to understand what can be feasibly achieve in the platform and what cannot be.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps validate hypothesis quickly with data, and make conversion rate optimisation.

  ### 8. Can run just about any experiment I throw at it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean O. | Strategic Digital Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I've been using Optimizely Web Experimentation for a couple of years. It can handle just about any experiment we throw at it, has a robust reporting engine, they introduce new features at a fast rate and the performance is good. It's an efficient platform to use as well. The customer support team has also been very helpful whenever we've needed them.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

While mostly easy to use, you do need a basic understanding of CSS selectors and the DOM. Without that base level you'll find it a frustrating experience trying to select the right element to change or measure.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us understanding the effectiveness of our landing pages and key customer journeys, supporting all areas of our business.

  ### 9. Very good tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denny R. | Trainee Personalisation Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The upsides are that you can easily put experiments live. I do not have CRO experience and putting these experiments live was very straightforward. The tracking of results and the statistical significance is also very clear. We like how we can also test into different pages on site not just as a whole which a different competitor we used to use did which limited us

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

One thing I’ve found is that I can’t check revenue per visitor in the dashboard only revenue per session which limits our reporting and need to go to GA for this.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Putting out multiple Tests on different placements in the same duration with such ease. Saves our team a lot of time

  ### 10. A solid CRO testing platform for websites

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There are a wide range of tests that I can run using the platform: A/B, A/B/n, multivariate, multi-arm bandit and 'stats accelerators'.

The trigger options allow me to quite easily target discreet customer segments by device type, or browser type, or by another specific behaviour. I've also done tests using custom JavaScript to suppress tests for more sensitive customer segments.

I like the reporting dashboard, which is good for conducting dip checks on how specific tests are performing across different browser and device types - and for seeing how a test is performing over time.

I also like the fact I can set a test to roll out to 5% of traffic, conduct a few post-live checks and then quickly duplicate the test and roll it out to 100% of eligible traffic.

Customer support tickets are via email and I usually receive a response within a few hours, which is good.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The visual page building tool is quite basic and could do with a refresh. It means that you more or less have to know HTML and CSS to build your own simple tests, and JavaScript for anything more complicated.

Many CRO practitioners will use Bayesian probability alongside Frequentist statistics if traffic volumes are smaller for specific tests. The reporting dashboard defaults to statistical significance - so Bayesian needs inclusion.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company wants more customers to convert using digital channels. To do this, we need to be able to reliably test different designs and features to understand what works best from a customer perspective. Optimizely gives us a solid platform to do this, which we also integrates reasonably with our data warehouse and analytics tools. This means we can tag customer segments using Optimizely and then clean the data, and be able to make more confident business decisions about what to implement.

  ### 11. A Solid Product, After Implementation Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom H. | Senior Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

There are plenty of configuration options, which helps ensure we're running experiments under the right circumstances, or for the correct user groups.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It was difficult to implement, and it's rather sensitive to different technical environments. This won't be immediately apparent. It could result in extended deployment times and many calls with various Optimizely teams.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an excellent A/B testing platform once it's up and running. We're able to run multiple experiments at once, yet still get clear performance reporting data while doing so.

  ### 12. Leading platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely keeps growing and maturing the feature functionality. Integrations with my backend, code snipits to go in GTM and willingless to leave behind a plan for people to follow inside the org is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The hardest part is going cold pre testing and personalization into a culture where folks self serve. That is the stage my organization is at right now and while I am confident there is support to help us get there, the challenge to explain the value of testing remains.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us get live with items before the team thinks they have arrived at 'perfect' and speed to market knowing you can run a B version

  ### 13. A good way to AB test

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristen J. | Global Ecommerce Analyst, SEO/PPC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely provides a lot of options for creating AB tests. Implementation with relatively easy.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I would like more templates so we could do less coding, as a marketer and note a coder it makes for more difficult tests to have to go to development to get done which takes longer.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving us the ability to test new ideas and see if they work without just guessing what our customers would like.

  ### 14. Almost overwhelming, but lots of options to run web experiements!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Catherine Stockdale G. | Web Experience Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The interface is very user-friendly and intuitive. There are almost too many options to choose from, but the Optimizely team is extremely helpful and makes themselves available for trainings and questions on anything related to testing, analyzing, and reviewing test results.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Connecting the "events" to measure conversions in tests is seperate from the tests themselves, but that is minor

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing the content and event conversion rate on our websites at the University

  ### 15. Optimizely allows all business users to understand experiments with less statistical background

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The results produced and the explanations of the different results for multi-variate experiments allows users from throughout the business to understand the variant performance without having to undertake complicated statistical analyses.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Some implementation of the metrics used in experiments is technically difficult to implement and things like offline conversions etc can be tricky.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implementation of new experiments with in built analysis is time consuming usually but setting the experiments up in Optimizely and understanding the results is significantly faster

  ### 16. Good ab testing tool requiring advanced technical knowledge to get the best out of it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Technically advanced tool capable of managing complex tests that require good development skills

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Metrics management
Lack of preview mode
lack of explanation of statistical significance, which is not always consistent

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handle complex ab testing pattenrns, and replace Prod features while winning version is being hard coded

  ### 17. Great tool.. but pricey

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Parker S. | Associate Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Has great WYSIWYG editor, and JS and CSS editor, which makes editing very flexible for developers and non technical users. Can handle simple and robust tasks.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Limitations on behavioral segmentation, without purchasing a higher tier.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to AB test, bandaid solutions in a pinch

  ### 18. Optimizely Web Experimentation is a great product if you are familiar with coding

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The flexibility and ease of use and amount of features offered

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Downside of product is using the selector tool, as you have to inspect your site first to determine the correct element to grab.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Determining which features are performing the best by testing multiple variations

  ### 19. Optimizely Web Experimentation is a great tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Cosmetics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely Web Experimentation makes it very quick and easy to better understand the users on our website.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes, it is not totally user friendly and requires some development work to set up experiments,

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We still have a lot of questions about how our users are shopping on site, so with every A/B test we conduct, we get to know them a little bit better. That helps us work on products and features that are optimal for conversion.

  ### 20. Very logical and user friendly user interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kristen e. | user experience specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

This is a great tool for simple a/b and mab test set ups. Easy to implement custom tests with specific segments and audiences. The results are easy to read and I particularly like the estimation of visitors needed to reach significance. This allows us to plan for longer test periods or consider alternate tests.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes experiencing flashing issues. Also experience issues sometimes as the preview tool does not work unless incognito mode.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A/B testing is integral to ensuring our wireframes and content selections on site are commercially viable

  ### 21. Solid CMP meeting basic expectations with stronger potential

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The top features are the customizable personalized UX with a strong marketing funnel approach (segmentation & targeting) that is extremely useful in producing what's asked for each customer. Also, the website performance focussed A/B testing keeps our organization more consistent with drastically changing the relative content for the better live as they come. Another aspect is the depth of analytics and insights dashboards/associated tools which keep us on track with KYU (know your user).

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The glaringly obvious downside is the pricey system especially when looking at it side by side with competitor software performing the same purposes. When asking senior management for approval, we always find it hard to sell the uniqueness or features of the platform in comparison to prove the need for exceeding our budgets.
It is also not the most user friendly platform for new users to intutitively pick up when exposed. You need to have used such systems before to have knowledge to get familar at a resonable pace. The compatability with our internal software is also challenging causing a lot of time and effort to be expended.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Increase in KPI metrics reflecting increased website sales, and added to it the data-driven approach which clearly helps us distinguish the pros and cons of what works for our product, and what isn't, is key. And like mentioned in the previous question, the marketing funnel approach of segmentation & targeting has immensely laid out different customer groups which makes it straightforward to understand and give them what we think they'd appreciate.

  ### 22. Web Experimentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Onboarding consultant made standing up the product easy.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Challenging to get a backlog pipeline for tests to implement quickly.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps make data driven decisions vs making changes for change sake.

  ### 23. Optimizely enables teams to easily run A/B experiments

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin C. | Senior Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The ease-of-use and the UI is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Client-side A/B testing is still a performance nightmare, no matter how many optimizations Optimizely makes.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to allow marketers to run short, but effective A/B tests and personalization campaigns.

  ### 24. Good tool to manage our experimenta

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chniber B. | Experimentation manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Handy tool and clear features to be used easily when managing the experiments

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Bit long period of time to load the dashboards

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving the main aim meaning doing ab testing and being able to conclude with high confidence

  ### 25. Friendly application, easy to use and self intuitive interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The 'Extension' feature, where you can build a feature once and re-use across multiple experiences

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

That we have two environments per domain and we still need to rebuild a test from scratch when we move from 'staging' project to 'production' environment.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the applicaiton mainly so far to throttle new features we are planning to roll out to all our users. Throttling users by 20% and slowly growing to 70% before complete roll out. Examples would be webpage layouts, webchat services, complaint forms.

  ### 26. I use them in the Dazn Player app

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iurie N. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

What I like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation is its intuitive interface and powerful A/B testing capabilities that make it easy to optimize web experiences without needing deep technical expertise.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

I dislike the steep learning curve for more advanced features and the relatively high cost, which might be a barrier for smaller businesses.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps our team select the different features in the different countries

  ### 27. Intuitive platform for feature experimentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has become a very intuitive platform! Since I began using the platform in 2018, it has increasingly improved and now offers many awesome features.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The only update I would love to see is better analytics options. I know the platform is not to be as data-heavy as something like Tableau, but eve a UX refresh for faster snapshots would be nice

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely allows me to quickly test and analyze user-facing experiences and gauge how customers respond to hypotheses driven by Product. I also use it to quickly roll out a feature once we know it was a winner.

  ### 28. The web experimentation was so good.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The main thing is like about the optimizely web experimentation is that, it is very user friendly and easy to visualise and see data

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

One thing I dislike is, the font and design of the screen could have been improved

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The optimizely web experimentation problem solving will help customers to get better usage and improve the quality

  ### 29. Webpage experiment made easy!!!!

Unless you don't want to experiment anything in your webpage. I highly recommend it.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A/B testing is not simple process. With help this software it works seamlessly.

  ### 30. A solid experimentation tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Clean UI made it easy to navigate and explore the app. I appreciate the detailed documentation available for users so if I have any queries, I can always consult guides, walkthroughs, or detailed feature pages.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

We found the Metrics Builder is not as flexible as other tools. It is tightly coupled with the experimentation flow and is opinionated and does not allow free-form SQL. This could limit the types of metrics and analyses that can be performed. I've also heard from others on the team that integrating optimizely into their code caused pages to load slower and impacted SEO scores.
Our last exploration of the tool also shows the primary metric does not account for other metrics used and doesn't correct for multiple testing.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely was a candidate we were exploring when looking at potential A/B testing suites for internal developer use.

  ### 31. Great user friendly interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The desktop application is amazing, works just like the Web app

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Some of the complexities behind targeting

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us see where clients can improve on their website to enable them to get better CTR

  ### 32. ODP is a really powerful tool that has some usability issues

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

* It's really quick and easy to track custom profile and event attributes and data fields.
* Funnels are a powerful tool to visualize user journeys (but can be slow to render).
* Event inspector is a really helpful troubleshooting tool. It would be nice to add a filter field in the UI. If there's lot of data streaming through, it's hard to find the relevant events against the noise.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

* Reports: Not having data fields being context-aware of the event actions they are associated with. I've been trying to create reports showing related combined user activities by segment. But it isn't easy to join different event actions in one report. For example, I was trying to create a report of sum form submits by video completions percentage, but that kind of join isn't possible because you can't show one row containing two different event types in a report.
* Filters: Creating multiple wildcard exclusions is not easy because they can't be added to one filter rule list since they cancel each other out. Also, having to exclude internal employees in all filters is labor intensive. It would be nice to have global account-level filter settings to exclude tracking from a list of domains or companies.
* Using custom objects to track meta data instead of creating data fields in events is difficult. It's not clear how to make a foreign key relationship between events and objects. It's not clear how to join objects and events together in Reports.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our client's marketing team wants to understand their customer segments and behaviors using their platforms so they can more accurately target and market to them.

  ### 33. Easy to use and understand

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The product is intuitive and its easy to use and easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The filtering of experiements is painful and go on resetting! This should be a simple fix!!

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely makes it a lot easier for us to run simpler web experiments and get data from the experiment in an easy to use analysis

  ### 34. Optimizely is the tool we needed 10 years ago

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neeraj P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Trying out new things is really important for our business to grow. It's like the heartbeat of our company! Optimizely has played a big role in helping us do experiments in a more organised and focused way, which has helped our business to grow even more.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Mainly documentation. Some users have expressed concerns about the quality and availability of customer support, as well as the comprehensiveness of the documentation provided.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A/B testing allows us to make decisions based on objective data rather than relying on assumptions or guesswork. By testing different versions of a webpage, email, or advertisement, we can collect data on user behavior and preferences to make informed choices

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Neeraj,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate it! We're happy that Optimizely Web Experimentation has been successful in helping to build your company's culture of experimentation. Surrounding your feedback on our documentation, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share this with your CSM so we can work on ways to improve your experience. Thank you.

  ### 35. Optimizely is very easy to understand which makes it user friendly.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Creating global metrics based on the pages.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Segmentation part is bit complecated to understand.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think they are working how fast they can load the data in report.

  ### 36. Great product with good support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denny K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Easy use, intuitive UI, and strong support (mostly) make Optimizely Web (including Performance Edge) an excellent product for anyone needing a powerful experimentation tool to conduct A/B testing and build a culture of experimentation. Optimizely also has a wealth of libraries plus a strong community where you can quickly find support for any implementation or integration issues.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Price and support can sometimes be lacking depending on your account team. I use Optimiely on and off for the last 10+ years. I found that depending on the company, they might treat you differently. But that is also true for all B2B companies.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Conduct A/B testing quickly and also occasionally using it to test new prototypes before production development

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Denny,
Thanks for leaving Optimizely Web Experimentation a review! It's great to hear that our product has helped your business build a culture of experimentation. If you have any questions or concerns, your Customer Success Manager is the best person to help you resolve them or you can leave us a message at reviews@optimizely.com at any time! Thank you.

  ### 37. Very intuitive application for testing application

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Viral P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

It empowers teams to make data-driven decisions and improve user experiences, ultimately driving better business outcomes.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Platform stability and updates: As with any software platform, there can be occasional issues related to platform stability, bugs, or updates. While Optimizely strives to provide a reliable and up-to-date experience, users may encounter occasional challenges or disruptions.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lack of data-driven decision-making, Inefficient or ineffective optimization, Limited understanding of user behavior, Increased customer segmentation and personalization

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Viral,

  ### 38. Useful tool for ecommerce, however has limitations when working on more specific use cases

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olya M. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Self-service is the most important for me as a Product Manager. I need minimal support from the engineering team to launch and monitor experiments.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It's not enough for me to target a specific page as users who open this page may have different properties. I need much more focused targetting, otherwise, there's so much noise that I have to go into Looker and Mixpanel to slice the data.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to evaluate the value of the changes we introduce, and also derisk these changes.
I need the result to be reliable, statistically significant, and clearly proven in trends.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Olya,
Thanks for leaving us a review! It would be much appreciated if you could share your product feedback with your Customer Success Manager so they can pass it on to our product team. We want to continue improving our products to make for a great user experience for every customer. You can also contact us at reviews@optimizely.com with any questions or feedback.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It scales according to the nead, you can create personalization for different user segments easily.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

it could get expensive for small startups and there is a learning curve for for new users on stuff like A/B testing.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

increase on low conversion rates and scaling on personalization.

  ### 40. Great features. Thorough testing.

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Instant, simple testing for web content.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Need a good foundation in similar systems to use full potential.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

These guys have been at it for a while now. They know how to make it easy to access the results you're looking for.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It's a bit pricey for mine. But if it gives you the insights you're looking for then it's a sound investment.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimezely is excellent for helping to identify the best landing page(s) for a website.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review on Optimizely Web Experimentation! We're happy to hear that our tool has been working well for you and your company. ### 42. Trusted Company.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely is trusted for its digital experiences, content management, experimentation, and commerce. It is a database software with a variety of sources and enables fast and easy search and retrieval of granular customer information.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

the poor customer success function, its time consuming to take decisions, it can be difficult to find pages using the edit mode search, pricing is one of the major drawback

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data Platform allows the team to react quickly in the face of changing marketplaces, unexpected setbacks, or new breakthroughs. It helps you to identify opportunities and challenges.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

>

  ### 43. Great for A/B testing and site personalization

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael H. | Web Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

It has a great set of utility functions, and you can send the preview link to your phone for testing mobile devices simply.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You must publish your experiment before being able to have the experiment run on every page concurrently. While you can do this behind a testing cookie, it is still not ideal for multipage testing.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we want to test a new feature or functionality quickly without having to go through a formal development process, this is a great way to quickly get something into production where you can control how much of your audience sees it.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Michael,
Thanks for leaving us a review. It's great to hear that Web Experimentation is providing you with effective business solutions. If you ever have any questions or insights surrounding our products, your customer success manager is always available for support or you can reach out to us at reviews@optimizely.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  ### 44. Optimizely is useful for bucketing, but not readouts

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Having a switchboard for controlling experiments

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Rather limited integration to our user metadata which makes the readouts really one dimensional

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't need to maintain an experiment switchboard UI

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Thanks for your review! We're happy to hear that Web Experimentation has been a beneficial tool for you and your business. As we want you to get the most out of our product, please let your Customer Success Manager know if there is any way you think we could improve its functionality. ### 45. Easy to use, quick to test

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Visual editor real time testing good support

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

The code editor is hard to sue sometimes,

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing different business hypothesis.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review! We appreciate hearing about what you value the most about our tools. ### 46. Great tool to easily configure and self service A/B tests

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has allowed our product management, design and marketing teams to create A/B tests without involvement from our developer team. There is only a small learning curve but then you are off to the races.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Resources for getting started can be a bit confusing and not as straightforward as they could be - I ended up needing to learn how to use the tool from someone at my company instead of the Optimizely docs. This was a while ago, so not sure if this has improved recently.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

You'll be able to find value that supports the cost in only a few tests if you haven't done any A/B testing before.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely solves configuring and running A/B tests quickly. It also reduces developer time which is a limited resource. The benefits are faster learnings and (for us) improved customer conversion.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We appreciate your review, it means a lot to us. It's great to hear that you've been finding great value in our Web Experimentation product. If you ever need support or suggestions to get the most out of it, please let your Customer Success Manager know, or you can shoot us a message at reviews@optimizely.com.
Thanks!

  ### 47. Great customer management resource!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Optimizely has a great user-friendly interface for managing and reporting on customers in a database.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

In specific one-off scenarios, Optimizely can be limited in capabilities.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimizely is continuously updating their system with new features that help to expand our communication efforts with customers.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
Thanks for leaving us a review! We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you're finding success with Web Experimentation. It would be great if you could detail all and any ways in which you think we could improve user experience on our platform. Your Customer Success Manager is always a great point of contact or you can leave us a message at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people. We look forward to hearing more about your insights!

  ### 48. Great platform, some areas to improve though

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sadie M. | CRO Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Easy to use, can track multiple elements - can paint a full picture on impact across the board
Edge is slightly better for page performance

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Impact on CWV, sometimes dubious about results
I am sure that sometimes Optimizely "fails" and some users aren't seeing control or variant. When this happens, I have some reason to believe that their actions are still tracked by metrics - if true this would basically completely hinder the validity of the results
Also now using Edge. It is so so slow to QA, which seems crazy, considering everyone will be QAing their experiment. Any small changes to code takes ages to upload to becoming live

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Yes I'd definitely recommend Optimizely:
1. Make sure your implementation is correct
2. Develop a good relationship with your account manager if you have one
3. Any questions you have, speak with your account manager whilst you try figure it out yourself - they will probably have seen it before (I only realised number 2 and 3 in the last few months and I've been using Optimizely for almost 3 years)

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Webform drop offs. Smart testing in order to improve SEO rankings.
Optimizely has enabled us to test more drastic changes, and in some areas we found that what we thought would have worked has actually tanked CR or RPV
We are able to test quite quickly thanks to the custom code editor. Custom metrics enable us to track everything we need
On paper, it feels quite limitless to what we can achieve, but see above about dislikes

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hey Sadie!
Thanks for taking the time to share your detailed review. This kind of feedback is incredibly insightful and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share with you Customer Success Manager. You can also message us at reviews@optimizely.com and we'll connect you with the right people.

  ### 49. Optimizely is great tool for a/b testing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad A. | Frontend developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

You can update DOM on the fly and tailor your experiment for your user needs. It has good analytics and you can use it to analyise your application to see how it is behaving and if your A/B testing is successful or not. If it is successful you can implement the solution to all your users permenently see the good version of your application. Optimizely UI is also very user firnedly and easy to use. It also forces you to sue to factor authentication so your account is secure and less likely to get hacked. There are also a lot of user permisisons so you can decide which user should have which kind of access. I would recommend using optimizely.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Sometimes the UI doesn't work on optimizely if you don't have the correct optimizely plugin installed and configured. It is also difficult to reset two factor authentication by the user. For example if you get a new phone and get a new authentication app then you need to contact the adminsitrator of your account to reset the two factor authentication so you can set it up and log in again otherwise you will be stuck and not able to log in to optimizely.

**Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Web Experimentation:**

Optimizley is a good tool for A/B testing. If that is what you are looking for then you can try it.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to test to see how users react to specific changes and improvements, and with that, we were able to improve the user experience.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for leaving us such a thoughtful review. We're happy that you're enjoying our product. It would be great if you could raise any concerns that you've had with our product with your Customer Success Manager or message us at reviews@optimizely.com. Our goal is to improve user experience for all of our customers.

  ### 50. Simple to use for the marketer with advanced options for developers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Extremely simple to use interface makes it an easy-to-use platform from the outset. As a non-technical user, I can create simple experiences and add metrics that my developers have created before.

**What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?**

Ultimately a developer is needed for more complex experiments or setting up goals aside from simple pageview or button clicks. We do most experiments using the development team and through them have created some complicated experiments with all the metrics we would want to track and more.

**What problems is Optimizely Web Experimentation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Typically we run a conversion rate optimization program through Optimizely and test any new design ideas, which I would imagine is the primary use case for Optimizely. In the past, we have also used it to quickly (and temporarily) change the website behavior without requiring a development release.

**Official Response from Emma Davis:**

> Hi There,
We appreciate your review! We love to hear that you've been finding great use in Web Experimentation. Please share any insights like these with your Customer Success Manager so we can continue to improve your user experience and build on your success. You can also always message us at reviews@optimizely.com.
Thank you.
