"Powerful Developer SDK for Custom AI Agent Automation"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

As a developer, what I like most is the Opal Tools SDK and how straightforward it is to build and host custom tools, whether I’m using Python/FastAPI or .NET. The automatic tool discovery mechanism through the /opal/discovery endpoint makes registering those tools feel very smooth, and it lets us seamlessly connect Opal’s agent orchestration layer with our proprietary APIs and databases. What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

The workflow agents are great overall, but the conditional logic can sometimes feel a bit rigid. For instance, when a condition in a workflow agent evaluates to false, there isn’t a native, built-in “do nothing” or “clean stop” option available out of the box. That ends up forcing developers to create specialized workaround agents simply to halt the workflow cleanly. Adding more native control-flow blocks would significantly improve the developer experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

There is a learning curve to fully utilizing all the advanced features, particularly when mastering the deep AI and intelligence capabilities and complex integrations with existing systems. However, this is far outweighed by the significant long-term benefits. The platform’s performance and UI/UX efficiency provide a clear path to improved Pricing/ROI, making the initial onboarding effort well worth it. While the product is sophisticated, the quality of support ensures that any complexity is managed effectively, leading to a scalable and highly professional digital environment. "Boosts AI Marketing with Efficient Workflow"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I use Optimizely Opal as part of our AI-powered marketing workflow at WebFuelHub, and it has quickly become one of our most valuable tools. It saves us a lot of time with its smart AI agent, which stands out the most. The AI agent understands our brand voice, generates quality on-brand content, and orchestrates workflow efficiency, helping us scale output without losing consistency. We also appreciate its capability to maintain brand consistency across client projects. Additionally, Optimizely Opal serves as a great AI orchestration layer when used with other tools like HubSpot, Google Analytics, and Meta Ads Manager. We switched to Optimizely Opal for better brand consistency, workflow integration, and stronger AI orchestration, finding it more reliable and efficient than our previous combination of Jasper and manual processes. What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

Onboarding could be more guided for new users, and some AI suggestions still need minor human fine-tuning for strict compliance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth First Experience with Opal"
5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

My first experience with Optimizely Opal has been positive. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, making it simple to get started without a steep learning curve. The onboarding process was straightforward, and I was able to generate AI suggestions within a short amount of time. The responses were relevant for the tasks I tried, and the overall experience felt smooth and responsive. While I haven't explored every feature yet, the platform made a good first impression and seems like it has the potential to streamline content creation and workflow management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

Since I'm still new to Optimizely Opal, I haven't encountered any major issues yet. The main challenge has been that some of the more advanced capabilities aren't immediately obvious, so there is a bit of a learning curve when trying to understand everything the platform offers. I think more guided examples or in-product tutorials for advanced features would help new users get up to speed faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Optimizely Opal: User-Friendly ExperimentTitle for your review:*ation with Powerful Insights"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

Optimizely Opal stands out for its user-friendly interface, making it accessible for teams of all skill levels. The robust experimentation capabilities allow businesses to test and optimize their digital experiences effectively. Additionally, its seamless integration with various tools enhances workflow efficiency, enabling teams to collaborate and innovate without friction. The analytics features provide valuable insights, helping organizations make data-driven decisions that drive growth and improve customer engagement. Overall, Optimizely Opal empowers businesses to enhance their digital strategies with confidence and ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

Optimizely Opal, while a powerful tool for experimentation and personalization, does have some areas that users often find challenging.

One common concern is its complexity; new users may find the interface overwhelming, especially if they are not familiar with A/B testing or data analytics. Additionally, some users report that the learning curve can be steep, requiring significant time investment to fully leverage its capabilities.

Another point of critique is the pricing structure, which can be perceived as high, particularly for smaller businesses or startups. This can limit accessibility for those who could benefit from its features but are constrained by budget.

Lastly, while Optimizely Opal offers robust features, some users feel that the customer support could be improved, particularly in terms of response times and the depth of assistance provided.

Overall, while Optimizely Opal is a strong platform, these aspects can impact user experience and satisfaction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Empowers Experimentation, But Demands Careful Setup"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I love how Optimizely Opal turns 'what if' into 'let's test' in seconds. It makes it possible to brainstorm an idea and have it running live in an experiment within minutes, eliminating the need for a dev ticket or design handoff. The speed of iteration really changes the culture, allowing for more testing, faster learning, and cheaper failures. The natural language interface is also a big plus since I don't have to learn a new syntax or dig through menus; I just talk to it like a teammate. This ease of use means I actually use it daily, not just for big projects. Opal also makes me smarter by not just executing tasks but suggesting actions and providing insights, like explaining why a particular variant won, which helps me learn better experimentation discipline. It bridges the tech/marketing gap by allowing me to handle 80% of experiments on my own, freeing up developers for more meaningful work. Overall, Opal makes experimentation feel playful again, transforming it from a slow process to something lightweight, curious, and energizing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

The cost model can be a bit of a challenge. Opal went to a credit-based usage model, so if your team gets a bit too enthusiastic with experiments, the costs can climb quickly, making budget planning tricky. It's not really a 'plug-and-play' kind of AI either. You need to put in some effort upfront to set things up right—like tone guidelines, workflow architectures, and stuff. It's definitely not a 'just install and go' situation. The UI can be a bit annoying too. Some folks have said the Opal chat sidebar is pretty intrusive; it pops up all the time and you can't really switch it off permanently in the settings. The setup wasn't super easy either. It's not just about installing a package but also making sure everything's aligned, like authenticating with Opti ID and dealing with browser policies. And, if you're thinking about trying to build custom tools, that can get pretty tricky. Even little errors can trip things up. One more thing—Opal doesn't do everything by itself. You still need people to help make sense of the data and guide strategies. We've also had some issues with support and training not being delivered as promised, so there's a bit of a learning curve there too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A true Asset for Streamlining Content Creation"
5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I use Optimizely Opal on a daily basis to generate new content and fine-tune marketing copy, making our pages much more scannable and user-friendly. It's become my go-to tool with tremendous insight into the marketing world, providing clear, concise reasoning for strategies. The integration with the Optimizely ONE platform is great, offering access through its own interface and within CMS, CMP, and DAM, making my workflow efficient. I love how Opal can reference brand guidelines stored in the DAM and applies our branding to produce perfectly fitting pages. It's really become my workmate, helping me gain a lot of free time to accomplish more tasks. The support from the Optimizely team has been excellent during setup and licensing, and I'm overwhelmed with positive feelings about the product and the service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

Not gonna lie. I've gotten into heated exchanges with Optimizely Opal from time to time. I think the biggest problem I see so far is when you're using Opal to get information regarding how something might work or configuration within the Optimizely platform itself. There seems to be a lot of different types of provisions and installations available for different Optimizely products, and Opal has a hard time determining which product you might be using at any given time. You might get a lot of instructions from Opal telling you to go to certain menu items, or you might find a menu item in a certain place, and in reality, on our instances, you can't see those particular things. There's a lot of going back and forth about it'll tell you to do one thing, and I have to reply back to it and say, I don't see what you're talking about. It'll apologize, and unfortunately, you can get into a rather long rambling loop with stuff like that. I've actually started yelling at Opal, and it tells me to calm down and allows me to provide that negative feedback back to the Optimizely folks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Wide options and perfect search results"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I love in Optimizely Opal the amazing search results and the wider options it offers, which I was not aware of before, such as the names of giant companies, user experiences, and the difference in paid and free (open source) technology. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

After research and experimentation, I believe making the recommended content lines by the system clear or in a darker color than the text, the suggestion provided by the system should be at the core of the research topic and should not delve into other branches far from the subject. "Efficient Content Creation with Personalization"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I like using Optimizely Opal for generating blog posts, campaign briefs, and product descriptions. It's great for not only content creation but also SEO search optimization. I find it really useful for analytics and reporting, where we can turn data into actionable insights and reports. The personalization features help us move beyond the one-size-fits-all campaign style and target different audiences and industries with AI-generated content variations. Setting it up was very easy, thanks to good customer support, and it's essentially plug and play. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

Governance can be complex when there are many agents involved. Cost management solutions should be improved, and making it cheaper would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Product Understanding, But UK Recommendations Can Miss the Mark"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Opal?

I like that it's installed across all of our webpages and therefore it understand the product and tone of language very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Opal?

More I use it, more I find that it still makes a lot of mistakes and someone with little experience of Optimizely's products would not pick up on them. I recently found out that it makes recommendations that don't always exist in the UK which can be quite frustrating but also time consuming to actually get to the bottom of what Opal is suggesting only to realise that this product doesn't work in the UK market.
