Robust platform that discourages customizations, but can handle it when needed **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Warehousing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2021 **What do you like best about Optimizely Commerce Connect?** Optimizely Commerce Cloud is a robust eCommerce tool, offering almost all of the features I need to accomplish our goals **What do you dislike about Optimizely Commerce Connect?** While the tool is configurable, it's a challenge to get my own team certified to support it without the constant reliance on an implementer. **Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Commerce Connect:** The support team at Optimizely is good to work with, but it has been a challenge to have the InsiteCommerce tool be purchased by Episerver, then shortly thereafter, purchased by Optimizely. Stability would be nice. As is, I had learned where the information I needed was on their support sites, then they get merged into another company's sites, the information you have access to changes, etc. It's also made it challenging to get my team trained because the content seems to continuously change and they do not provide a practice/test environment for those going through the certification process, though they do expect you to pay a retest fee should the developer fail the test. I've never experienced that with other certifications. **What problems is Optimizely Commerce Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have greatly reduced the number of developers needed to support our eCommerce platform due to the ability to utilize most of the out-of-the-box features. **Official Response from Emma Davis:** > Hi, Thank you for your review! It is simple and easy to create and edit content, being able to use a drag and drop system is brilliant and makes the content manager's job easier. I also find that the system is fast. **What do you dislike about Optimizely Commerce Connect?** The high costs for licenses is my only bugbear. **Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Commerce Connect:** Enjoy using it, compared to some other CMS systems, its a pleasure **What problems is Optimizely Commerce Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?** Creating a new website. It's really good to have the on page editing so you can see the changes as you are working. Strong and large community. Good support both from Episerver and other developers on forum. Good integration with Episerver CMS, and increasing support of new UI for Commerce Catalog. **What do you dislike about Optimizely Commerce Connect?** Pricing. IMHO Commerce UI is a "dinosaur with a kick". Old ASP.NET forms application hardly fit in year 2017. Some of the old api's can sometimes be confusing. **Recommendations to others considering Optimizely Commerce Connect:** Read "Pro Episerver Commerce" book. Avoid using old api's and approaches as much as possible. Use new UI for catalog management in Episerver CMS as much as possible. Read blog posts and formus on world.episerver.com frequently. **What problems is Optimizely Commerce Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is a great and stable platform for implementing wide spectrum of e-commerce applications. Long time on the market. Incremental improvements. I wouldn't trade it for any other similar platform at time being. ### 8.
