I also appreciate the importing and organization tools. It's similar to LR and made for an easier learning curve. The editing looks good and photos are polished pretty easily. **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** I wish there was more control with OpticsPro and easier to use brushing and masking tools. But overall, it does a good job even without the extras. **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cleans up photos quick for social media, emails, ads. The software is easier to use than freeware but doesn't cost a fortune for us to run. ### 2. It offers an excellent RAW file sharing platform via the plugin. **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** Needs work on sending multiple documents at once. **Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:** Would you please add sharing system for Aftereffects as well **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** I usually work on RAW files with lightroom and need to transfer files across the team. It's effortless to do so via their plugin in lightroom itself ### 3. Another interesting feature is the simultaneous export in different formats depending on the destination. But if there's something to highlight about DXO OpticsPro, now called DXO PhotoLab 3, it is the automatic lens correction. When you open an image for the first time, PhotoLab reads the metadata of your image and automatically adjusts the lens parameters that go far beyond what can be appreciated in other photo editing software. When opening the same image in Lightroom and PhotoLab, the latter shows an easily visible increase in quality, especially in sharpness. The software easily identified my camera as a Canon EOS 550D and recognized my lenses. **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** For me, the way the images are organized. Catalogs are not used, and for some photographers that will be a positive thing, but for others, it won't. Another aspect to mention, but which is not a flaw in itself, is that one must get used to the user interface, especially when coming from other editing software. **Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:** If you are a landscape photographer, whether a beginner or a professional, this software brings together the necessary tools to process RAW images to make the most of our captures. Easily and quickly, accommodating to the workflow in a simple way. **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** The automatic optics correction is a very good feature that saves you a lot of time. ### 4. I consider DXO's solutions in both of these the best available in any software package. NOTE: DXO Optics Pro is now call DXO PhotoLab. **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** It's export feature, taking an image out of DXO and into another program such as Photoshop, is quite slow, although it's better in the newer release. However, I would not ask that they speed it up at the expense of their wonderful noise reduction efforts. **Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:** If you use a lot of differently camera/lens combinations or if you do a fair amount of low light photography, then DXO is a great tool to have in your mix of photo editing software. It also has an AI drive "smart lighting" adjustment tool that is great for fast edits of lots of images, such as a track meet or the like. **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** DXO does an amazing job compensating for camera and lens induce variations. It more importantly has the best image noise reduction on the market, something quite important to me as much of what I shoot has some dark areas where noise is easily shown. ### 5. To be honest, if I can accomplish my editing needs without leaving Lightroom, that’s my first choice. However, DxO has made it as seamless as possible to work with Lightroom - direct import and export to Lightroom are supported, so there are no additional steps required other than choosing Edit in DxO and then returning those adjusted files back to your Lightroom catalog. **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** I don’t see it as is a image organization tool. For that, I still depend on Lightroom. **Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:** Tethering for me is a real deal breaker at the moment, if you could add that and Metadata tagging that would raise an eyebrow or two. **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** With the latest release of Lightroom Classic and CC, I find I use DxO less and less. So the only real benefit I have is that I won't have to upgrade DxO for the results I want. ### 7. Even if you shoot a low light picture with lots of noise in the dark areas, Dxo can manage it better then the competition. It also does a perfect job when correcting distortion of widelens and even fisheye images that it straightens perfectly. You can also post directly to facebook or flickr and other apps from Opticspro **What do you dislike about OpticsPro?** It is very hard to work with on longer projects. It doesnt help my workflow as a wedding photographer. I have to edit 800-1000 shots per day. The noise reduction takes forever to remove the noise and there are no local brush adjustment options. I have to buy the more expensive software ELITE so my camera gets supported. i now own a nikon d750 and previously i had a d600 **Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:** If you shoot a lot of images you wont be able to use it as your prime editor. **What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has helped me clean some images of noise that otherway i would consider them useless. My time correcting distorted images has been cut in half.
