"OpenVPN AS is a well-supported, robust VPN solution."
5/5
What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?

The best thing about OpenVPN AS is that it is pretty much literally a turn-key product. They have a virtual appliance available that works out of the box with NO installation, per se, required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?

The downside of AS, however is that a lot of the detailed configuration and control options are only available via a command-line interface, which is not exactly intuitive. It is, however, quite well documented and there are numerous forums online where you can find how-to-do whatever it is you are needing to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The client user experience is much better than AWS VPN. Also there is better visibility of which users are connected etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?

OpenVPN Access Server is available now in the Microsoft Azure marketplace making it easier to deploy in most of the major cloud providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Making it easier to add CA-certified SSL certificates to the server as it comes with a self-certified SSL certificate.

"Makes VPN and Network Management a Breeze"
4.5/5
What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?

The user-based permissions allow you to limit specific teams to specific network subnets. And split tunneling improves performance by routing only specific traffic through the VPN. This reduces your network throughput for the VPN server. The two factor authentication integration and the individual web portal simplifies user management by allowing easy access to configurations and credentials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?

The licensing costs can add up quickly for larger teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Adam Bullock of OpenVPN Access Server

You've definitely got things running well with your description on what you like best about Access Server, great to read! I'll pass along your feedback on the cost to the team here, totally hear you. Thank you for the review!

"Very easy initial setup from VM-based distribution, could be easier to keep up to date"
4/5
What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?

Small, lightweight, but still has all the basics you need in a VPN solution, including options for MFA support like Okta Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?

Keeping both the server & clients up to date can be a challenge. Both the Ubuntu and the ApplicationServer on the Unix VM are a bit tedious to keep up to date. Client updates will sometimes fail and require manual installation & reinstall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
