Changing locations by VPN make Facebook buggy, like changing my location and pushing marketplace post as myself. I don’t know if this problem is known but with Claude I have been banned, I don’t know if it is because of VPN

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

Insecure Remote Access: It protects sensitive data with 256-bit AES encryption and applies zero-trust controls to help prevent unauthorized access to internal systems.

 ### 17. Great piece of software and very fast and to the point help-desk

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ton E. | retired, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Quite frankly, I do not use the OpenVPN Access Server. I just use OpenVPN to VPN-into my Raspberri. After having used it for 2.5 years, to full satisfaction, it stopped working. Some inspection revealed that the certificates were invalidated. As I did not remember how I got this all to work, I contacted the help-desk. Within an hour I received an answer plus a pointer to where to find the info on fixing this. 2 hours later everything worked again. I have recently had some other interactions with Customer Support of other, rather expensive products. If all Customer Service Support would work as well as OpenVPN, wow, then the world would be a much better place!

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I actually contemplated installing OpenVPN Access Server instead of fixing the old, single user OpenVPN. I found it very complicated from the outset.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

secure access to my home network

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Glad everything is working for your personal setup, and thank you for your kind words about our customer success team. They are awesome, I agree!

Totally hear you on Access Server, helping customers get onboarded is something we're always updating and getting feedback on. If anyone is stuck any step of the way, our customer success team is a quick email away and will help you through the entire process!

 ### 18. Support and commercial assistance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hajro N. | Directeur de Systèmes d'Information Externe, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN Access Server is very easy to use, and the management and isolation of networks and sub-networks is really simplified. The connection in SAML really facilitates user connections, especially for the administrator. The support is excellent, always a response in a very short time and very quick commercial follow-up. I recommend it!

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

It would be interesting to have more autonomy in managing licenses, being able to add or remove them according to the client's needs without necessarily having to go through the sales representative each time. This is just a detail and maybe an idea, but nothing serious in itself!

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The secure connection to company resources, securing user access using SAML via Microsoft or Google Authenticator, and the online documentation which is really very comprehensive.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Appreciate the review, Hajro. And really good idea, always appreciate that, I'll forward that over to the team! Thanks for being a customer.

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Its easy to set up even on the first time installation on the system. Thanks to the documentation and simple architecture ui interface.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

They are on the right path. But not sure on the service support side as I personally haven't faced any issues.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gets me connected to any client just by quickly establishing the connection and also I can switch between the diferent clients(server connections)

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review, Sandesh - glad you find it user friendly and easy to use. And good call on always upgrading the version, we are always improving performance!

 ### 20. Open VPN Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip H. | Senior Security Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN Access Server Review

As a cybersecurity compliance professional, I appreciate OpenVPN Access Server for its balance of security, flexibility, and ease of deployment. It provides a reliable way to establish secure remote access while maintaining compliance with frameworks like HITRUST and SOC 2.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Limited Built-in Reporting: While logging is available, the built-in reporting and analytics features are lacking. More advanced insights often require external tools.
Resource Consumption: Compared to other VPN solutions, OpenVPN Access Server can be resource-intensive, especially at scale.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN Access Server helps solve several critical security and access management challenges, ultimately benefiting both security posture and operational efficiency.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks so much for the review, Philip! Compliance is a big reason our customers use Access Server, and I'm glad it's working well for you. I'll take your feedback to the team in terms of your dislikes - appreciate you being a customer!

 ### 21. OpenVPN Access Server Has Been Solid For Us For 10 Years

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

For my team and I, OpenVPN Access Server has been part of our infrastructure for the last 10 years. When we first had a need for a reliable, day to day VPN, we researched and spoke with others in our field looking for recommendations. Unanimously most of the people we spoke with recommended OpenVPN. We were tasked with setting it up for a team of about 15 people and found it easy to roll it out even to those in other physical locations with simple to follow instructions. We integrated it for our entire team in less than 24 hours. We consulted with their customer support on a few questions during the initial setup and they were extremely helpful in ensuring a smooth transition from our old VPN server. Our team uses OpenVPN daily with some of us staying connected 24x7. We found that the feature set was more than enough for us as we only use the typical features that most would. With that said we have the flexibility to use more advanced features if we should need them in the future. When it comes time to renew our licensing, it's as simple as copy and pasting the new licenses code. There's no need for a restart or anything that would compromise our connectivity. We have been extremely happy in the 10 years that we have been using OpenVPN Access Server.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The only thing that has been a challenge for us over the years is that the licensing model has changed. Even with that change, we were willing to pay a little bit more knowing that the OpenVPN Access Server has worked extremely well for us over the last 10 years. After speaking with their team, they helped us through choosing the right model for oour needs and ever since then we just pay the renewal fees, update our license key, and move on.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our OpenVPN Server has allowed us to connect our US and internationl teams to the same resources with an easy to use lightweight client. In some cases the international team has slower than normal internet access and even with that the OpenVPN client works well and keeps them connected. A lot of time we are pushing large amounts of code and data from slower connections and the VPN always holds up for us.

 ### 22. OpenVPN is an Incredible and Functional Remote Browsing Platform.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

5. Security and the Authentication functionalities are excellent and even encryption is effective.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

None for the VPN since even the initial features configuration is very easy operation.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Easy and secure remote and browsing.

2. The ability to relocate your browsing location is excellent.

3. Simple to detect threats.

4. Secure file transfer.

5. Browsing activities protection.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review, and love the fact Access Server is working the way you want it to! Thank you for trusting OpenVPN. Dropping a link to our features page.

 ### 23. High Level Security in Business Environments.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

So far I haven't gotten a look that I don't like.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN Access Server is positioned as a comprehensive and highly reliable solution for companies looking to ensure secure and remote connectivity, without sacrificing performance or ease of use. From its implementation to its daily management, this software has proven to be an indispensable tool in our company.

 ### 24. Stable VPN solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Agustin S. | Head of Infrastructure, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

What I appreciate the most about OpenVPN Access Server is its remarkable stability. We implemented a self-hosted server in our company over four years ago, and we have encountered no issues thus far. It operates swiftly and reliably.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

What I like least in my experience with OpenVPN server is the web interface for creating access groups. While the interface allows you to create multiple groups with different routes to various networks, it does not allow you to name those routes. Consequently, over time, administration becomes quite challenging, as one cannot remember which network range corresponds to each.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our company, we use AWS as our cloud provider, and within AWS, we have multiple private networks with numerous servers and applications. Thanks to the use of OpenVPN, our employees can access these resources privately and securely.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review, Agustin! No issues in four years is awesome, proud of that, and happy it's been reliable for you. I also appreciate your feedback on the web interface for creating access groups - I will bring that feedback to the team. Thanks, again!

 ### 25. Happy that we switched to OpenVPN AS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matyas S. | Lead developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Administration interface is nice. Coming from a console only OpenVPN installation, it is much easier to set things up using a UI. I had to use customer support once and they were fast and helped to resolve the problem quickly. We use it on daily basis to access restricted resources and we had very little problems.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Somewhat complicated deployment in Azure. I would have expected a better experience there, but part of that is definitely due to my inexperience in network configuration. Differences between the community OpenVPN and this product caused some confusion.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solved the problem of yearly re-configuring the OpenVPN server on our EdgeRouter. Distribution of the VPN profiles is a huge help and the MFA option is a must have feature in these times.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Appreciate the review! And thank you for the feedback on Azure integration, I'll pass that along to the team. Agreed on MFA being VITAL in these times :)

 ### 26. very good support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lahiru W. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The OpenVPN support team provided a very quick response, and I truly appreciate their efforts. They are highly supportive. Keep up the great work, and please continue maintaining this excellent level of support quality.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN should maintain their older APK files, as we require an APK version that is compatible with Android 8

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

to connect to the internal network, it works fine.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the nice words about our support team - they're knowledgeable, and very fast.

I'll bring your feedback on maintaining older APK files to the team. I've included a link to our downloads page.

Appreciate you being a customer!

OpenVPN Access Server solves several key problems, which have been beneficial for my use:

Secure Remote Access: It provides a secure VPN connection, allowing access to a private network from anywhere, which is essential for remote work. This benefits me by ensuring that my connection is safe, even when accessing sensitive information from outside the office.

> Thanks for the review, Krystian! Simple, strong, and fast = great things to like!

 ### 28. Great Enterprise VPN Server

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN Access Server stands out for its balance of strong security, ease of use, and scalability. It provides a reliable VPN solution with a user-friendly web interface, making deployment and management straightforward even for those with limited networking experience. Its support for multiple authentication methods, seamless integration with existing infrastructure, and ability to handle remote access and site-to-site connections efficiently make it a versatile choice. Plus, its robust encryption ensures data protection while maintaining stable performance across various devices and operating systems.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

While OpenVPN Access Server is a powerful and flexible VPN solution, its licensing model can be a drawback for some users, as it limits the number of concurrent connections unless additional licenses are purchased. Additionally, while the web-based management interface is convenient, it may feel somewhat basic for advanced users who prefer more granular control. Initial setup and configuration can also be slightly complex for those unfamiliar with networking concepts, especially when dealing with firewall rules and routing. Despite these minor drawbacks, it remains a solid and reliable choice for secure remote access.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN Access Server solves the challenge of secure remote access by encrypting connections and ensuring that sensitive data remains protected, which is crucial for businesses with remote employees. It simplifies VPN deployment with an intuitive interface, reducing the complexity of managing secure network access. It also helps overcome geo-restrictions and firewall limitations, allowing seamless connectivity across different locations. By providing a scalable and cost-effective solution, it enhances productivity, ensures compliance with security policies, and gives peace of mind knowing that network traffic is secure from potential threats.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Appreciate this comprehensive review! Stability, reliability, great to read those positives. I'll follow up with the team on your comments about the web UI. Thanks!

 ### 29. Simple but effective VPN solution (though needs a better web console)

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

We don't have too many login issues or dropped connections with OpenVPN. I've used other vpn services in the past and they can be a bit shaky at times causing disconnecitons or issues with users being able to log on.
We have had issues of those kinds with OpenVPN but they are usually solved quickly and happen fairly rare.
I'm also happy about the speed of the vpn network. I don't notice any significant delay's when on the vpn vs when off.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I am the admin and the web-based gui console is very limited. You have to do things like reset mfa codes through a terminal. I wish I could just locate a user's account in the web console and reset there.
Seriously OpenVPN, this is something that should be possible.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN allows us to protect our IP and our customer's data behind the firewall and heavily restrict the access to outside users.
We are a fully remote company and without a solid VPN, we would not be able to function.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review! Glad to hear speed isn't an issue, and while there have been drops or login issues, they are solved quickly.

I'll bring your feedback on resetting mfa codes and how limited that is to your team. Appreciate you mentioning that specifically.

 ### 30. Solid and reliable secure VPN that just works.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob L. | IT Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Once its setup and configured it is a very solid and reliable secure VPN that is easy to use and integrate into your networks.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The initial setup is a bit involved and requires a Linux box to run on. Updating the software and Linux system does take some time and Linux knowledge. If a user changes their MFA device, ie Phone, it takes some administration to setup the new MFA prompt to add the new device for the end user.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps to secure connections to our AWS environment. It is easier and more reliable than what we've had in the past as far as VPN software goes.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> That's what we aim for, it just WORKS. Thanks, Bob. And you're absolutely right: using Access Server does require that Linux knowledge. Thanks for helping spread the work about a solid and reliable VPN that just works! :)

 ### 31. OpenVPN AS is a well-supported, robust VPN solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua S. | Systems Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The best thing about OpenVPN AS is that it is pretty much literally a turn-key product. They have a virtual appliance available that works out of the box with NO installation, per se, required.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The downside of AS, however is that a lot of the detailed configuration and control options are only available via a command-line interface, which is not exactly intuitive. It is, however, quite well documented and there are numerous forums online where you can find how-to-do whatever it is you are needing to do.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VPN access for our 100+ reporters, editors and creative staff

 ### 32. Superior User Experience and Visibility Compared to AWS VPN

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The client user experience is much better than AWS VPN. Also there is better visibility of which users are connected etc.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The price per user is a bit steep, especially since I have to self-host the server component

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to private VPC

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Appreciate the review, and happy to hear you feel the experience is much better. I hear you on the price per user component, feel free to reach out to our team, though, we can work with you on that!

 ### 33. OpenVPN Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khalid A. | Chief Information Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

It is secure, fast and easy to setup and work with. The support is excellent and fast. We use it on daily basis for our local staff and vendors. Alot of features are very helpful to our staff and it is easy to integrate with our local IAM solution. We hve implemented it in one day

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

In Saudi Arabia, OpenVPN site is blocked by Internet provider. This makes it difficult to pay online for the subscription.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All our local admin staff and vendors are using OpenVPN on daily basis to support our current apps.

 ### 34. OpenVPN for secure connection

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

improved client handling for server connection limits

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The connectivity to openVPN. I've to retry three times minimum every time.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Establishing the connection between the cloud and the end user in the highly secure way

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review! I'm sorry to hear about retrying at least three times every time, that is unexpected behavior. Can you reach out to me (adam.bullock@openvpn.com) or the support team (link below) and we can get it fixed for you.

 ### 35. A great open source VPN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN Access Server is available now in the Microsoft Azure marketplace making it easier to deploy in most of the major cloud providers.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Making it easier to add CA-certified SSL certificates to the server as it comes with a self-certified SSL certificate.
Making the "Route Traffic through VPN" a default on option for convenience.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure connection to connect to my VPC as well as connecting via public networks.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review, and for being a customer! You're right, we're in the Microsoft Azure marketplace. Link below.

And appreciate your feedback, I'll bring to the team.

 ### 36. Makes VPN and Network Management a Breeze

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alper A. | Cloud Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The user-based permissions allow you to limit specific teams to specific network subnets. And split tunneling improves performance by routing only specific traffic through the VPN. This reduces your network throughput for the VPN server. The two factor authentication integration and the individual web portal simplifies user management by allowing easy access to configurations and credentials.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The licensing costs can add up quickly for larger teams.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN AS allows us to access our virtual private cloud in a more feature rich and robust way.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> You've definitely got things running well with your description on what you like best about Access Server, great to read! I'll pass along your feedback on the cost to the team here, totally hear you. Thank you for the review!

 ### 37. A very affordable, easy-to-use VPN solution, MFA included.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris I. | IT Systems Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

OpenVPN Access Server is very easy to set up and configure.

It has very affordable and simple licensing.

It includes options for SSO integration AND MFA.

Support response has been prompt when needed.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Resetting MFA tokens for users seems to only be doable via command line. I have yet to find a web admin portal option to do so.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenVPN provides an MFA-compliant secure remote access solution.

Many of our users work remotely, and need access to internal services.

 ### 38. Very easy initial setup from VM-based distribution, could be easier to keep up to date

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Small, lightweight, but still has all the basics you need in a VPN solution, including options for MFA support like Okta

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Keeping both the server & clients up to date can be a challenge. Both the Ubuntu and the ApplicationServer on the Unix VM are a bit tedious to keep up to date. Client updates will sometimes fail and require manual installation & reinstall.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure VPN access with RADIUS authentication to local AD & MFA via Okta.

 ### 39. Secure your access for internal resources using Open VPN

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandeep S. | Staff Engineer - FinOps, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Security ,Cost-Effectiveness ,Ease of Use &Compliance

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Nothing as of now. It does give trouble connecting though which is temperorary

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a SaaS Global Company & we wanted to use a VPN connection for our employees internally. We did evaluate couple of tools in the space mainly Cisco & Open VPN. Costs and maintainance of OpenVPN is far lower than cisco. It has all the features that an ISO aduit would require. Trust worthy tool & support is excellent

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Appreciate the review, and glad you are having a great experience!

 ### 40. Excellent and fast VPN service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas A. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I have a use case where we are running two parallel VPNs. OpenVPN blows our other VPN server out of the water in terms of speed.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The setup for an Ubuntu OpenVPN access server is a little complicated if you aren't accustomed to Linux - also keeping it secure with best practices; but this isn't OpenVPN's problem.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast reliable split-tunnel vpn for our devops

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Haha right you are, Linux experience helps! Love to hear about performance, appreciate the review and thank you for being a customer!

 ### 41. Very bad initial experience

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon T. | Tech Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I included the questions I had on the initial email and they still set me up with a lo-level dev who was only capable of drawing figma squares on their VERY LIMITED visual. This was honestly the worst customer experience I have had from someone I was trying to give money to. It is like they only hire incompetent people.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Not much especially since they aren't OPEN any more.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not much. There is plenty of TRUE open source options out there that I will be exploring.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Hey Brandon, this doesn't sound like a typical experience. I'd love to connect you with someone on our side who can answer your questions for you. I realize in the tech buying space getting a 'redo' is rare, but fire off an email to me at adam.bullock@openvpn.com, and I'd love to see if we can earn your trust and business.

 ### 42. Easy to install and get on the server

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jatinder k. | Cash application leader, Accounting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Open VPN is very easy to install, my company gave me a config file and we can just import the file and use the software to access my organisation server.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I don't have anyhting to dislike the product, Airtel is blocking some of the VPS then I am not able to access the server and I have to switch to some other network (ISP).

So its a problem with Airtel not with open VPN

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily access my organizations server and work.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Nice! That's what we like to hear, easy to install, import the config file, and you're on your way. Thanks for the review!

 ### 43. Great Review, Great Product

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe W. | IT Supervisor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

We enjoy using OpenVPn because of the high level of security it offers. Our users often use Open VPn for remote access. Open VPN offers a private experience while online.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Open VPN can be very resource intensive and requires a server to run. The overhead can be costly for some, we use it in an amazon virtual server enviroment and there is a fee to run the server.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Open VPn for remote users to access their cloud servers from remote locations. Open VPN offere ene to end encryption so that the user's sensitive data is protected from cyber theats and users that are not allowed to access such data.

 ### 44. Simple solution to implement and effective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** GALBADON R. | Responsable système d'information, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The free version allows you to test the solution and can meet a simple need. If you need to access a system that controls access via IP, it is a very good solution. The implementation is well documented on their site. Updates are frequent.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The licensing system has become somewhat more complex over time, and it's a bit of a shame.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to access filtering systems by IP.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thank you for the feedback and sorry, I'm using Google Translate to respond to you :)

I hear you regarding the prices, I will pass this feedback to the team.

Happy that the documentation was useful. Thank you for being a customer!

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

I miss support for Ubuntu 24.10, needed to deploy Docker image which makes IP configuration a little bit more complex

OpenVPN helps setting up quickly secure communications

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review and for being a customer! I'll bring your feedback to the team here.

OpenVPN is very user friendly. it covers all the necessary needs for our business information security. Also customer service is excellent when it comes to resolving issues. Easy to integrate with our server.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The limited users for free tier, but it is not really a big thing.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves our concerns when accessing sensitive information for our business.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Thanks for the review! Happy we are ticking your boxes for ease of use and integration.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesse C. | Systems Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenVPN Access Server?**

Easy to implement, excellent device compatibility, extremely reliable

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

A little on the expensive side. Support is not super helpful in my experience. You need to reset MFA tokens for users from the CLI which is clunky

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my experience it is the easiest way to implement MFA for remote access. Also for my clients with limited remote access VPN functionality this is easy to sell and implement

 ### 48. Thank You VPN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

It already have a AMI in AWS. It is easy to manage and add new people to the VPN server access.

**What do you dislike about OpenVPN Access Server?**

The cost is high comparatively speaking. Also memory utilization may not be optimized as I have run out CPU memory when more than 12 people joined the VPN.

**What problems is OpenVPN Access Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To connect to AWS resources directly. Helps in securing and authenticating people connecting to business infrustructure from their remote home.

**Official Response from Adam Bullock:**

> Glad to things are working well with OpenVPN + AWS. I'll bring up your issues with memory utilization when more than 12 people join the VPN, as well as your note about the cost. Appreciate the review!
