1.We are using UFT for functional testing where we follow a data driven aproach in automating SAP applications.
2.We use UFT not only for SAP but also for Web applications.
3.It uses VB script and not very high level programming language , making scripting easier

  ### 11. Excellent tool in automation!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrícia P. | QA Automation Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Opentext functional Testing?**

I have been working with this tool, for more than 1 year, to automate test cases of various management applications of a reputed company. The range of compatible applications is surprendent and quite useful. UFT provides add-ins so you can implement tests for various technologies such as SAP, WEB, Windows applications, console, among others.
The tool is very simple and easy to interact with. Although I did not have previous experience, I easily learned how to use it.
In each solution created (known as test) we can create actions, with its own set of input parameters - data passed by the user to be used in the test. Within the test, there may be several actions and these can be easily organized and ordered among themselves.
If there are actions that are common to several tests, these can be invoked as external actions and thus, it is not necessary to repeat the source code that has been implemented previously, making the process simpler and faster.
In addition, you can create libraries where there can be multiple functions that are called within each test.
UFT also provides the "record" option that automatically generates the source code for the execution of the test, such as the action of clicking a certain button: objects are automatically stored in the repository and the code indicating the button click is generated.
Another feature is the reports generated at the end of each test. They accurately indicate all the steps in the test and whether they were successful or not.

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

Despite its great potential, this tool consumes a huge amout of resources. Even with a good processor, RAM and SSD, running tests with more than 3 add-ins makes the machine too slow and difficult to work with.
During the use, I came across a major limitation that even the support team couldn't help me: massive export of tests (solutions). The client had to move the tests from one location to another within their server. In order to do this, we use the "export" functionality of UFT, which forces us to open each test and select this option and specify the destination folder. By doing this, all links and references to external libraries and actions ceased to function. The only solution was to open each test and fix the various connections, for a total of 5000 tests! This tool is suitable for large companies, however, it is little prepared to massive changes of items, which is a serious problem in large companies.
The licenses of this tool are very expensive, which limits the small and medium companies to use it.

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**

It is an excellent tool, but you need a good machine to use it.
Care should be taken to change the location of the implementations.

**What problems is Opentext functional Testing solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The UFT allows you to create a set of tests. Each test execute a specific test case, with routines of a set of actions, to be executed in several technologies used in the management and exercise of activity of several companies, like SAP, Windows applications, Web, among others.
It is possible to run these tests automatically, with various inputs and thus, test the applications used in companies daily, to verify and validate if they behave as expected. It is a way of validating that the whole process of company management is fully functional.

  ### 12. Micro Focus UFT

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Opentext functional Testing?**

UFT supports VB scripting and it has wide support for automating many different UIs and applications. It all comes with different plugins. Record and play is the very easy and simple method to use with UFT but usually we use the recording option at the base level and integrate that code with our automation framework. It has very good integration with Mocro Focus ALM and so the test and defect management are very easy.It can also integrate with GIT for version control.

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

UFT always requires some framework to be developed which sometimes makes it more complex. It supports only VB Scripting and so there are many limitations in coding. The object repository management is also not that good. UFT sometimes hang or show many issues in normal use.

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**

Very useful tool for end to end test automation of ERP solutions like SAP, Oracle etc.

**What problems is Opentext functional Testing solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End to end test automation for SAP and its integrated systems. UFT is very helpful in multi software environment especially with ERP solutions like SAP. It can also use for API testing.

  ### 13. The best test automation tool but it should be more efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nelson P. | Senior QA Automation Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Opentext functional Testing?**

Micro Focus UFT is a very good software for test automation because it handles different types of software, is simple to use and It's easily integrated with ALM and Jenkins. The record works really good and most of the time, is very useful. For test scenarios that require multiple executions with different data for each execution Micro Focus UFT is the best choice.

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

The license is too expensive. It should be able to use other programming languages instead of only VBScript. It's not efficient, I am using Micro Focus UFT on a reasonable good laptop with an Intel i7 8Gen, 16Gb of ram and most of the time it runs slow when executing tests.

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**

It's one of the best products for test automation in the market. If you are looking for a product that has a really good support this is the product that you are looking for.

**What problems is Opentext functional Testing solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Micro Focus UFT to test an API with putty by SSH. UFT is very useful because it is probably the only one that can pick up the coordinates of a putty session with the Record option and this turns my work much more easier.

  ### 14. Best Rider for Testers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2019

4.integration part is minimal(test managing tools)
5.easy to setup(made one-click setup)
6.comes with vb script.
7.great in performance.
8.meets any kind of application

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

1.still they can optimize the things in a lot of places.
2. The add-ins part is a bit awful.
3.need to make any lighter version

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**

as the product is costly but it will not disappoint you.

  ### 15. UFT for functional automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Opentext functional Testing?**

1)Easy to use
2) Very helpful for beginners also for QA automation
3) Gives us Record and Play back, can be used by freshers
4) It uses VB Scripting which is again a very simple coding language.
5) I liked the inbuilt checkpoints feature and also Object Repository.
6) Results viewer is again a super tool for UFT results analysis
7) We can also record an execution of the script using 'Mirco Player' and save it for future purposes, which i have used for delivering script/execution demos team.

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

It is slow if we have to load all the add in's from Add In manager while launching UFT. Also it crashes sometimes when working on IE browser and results wont be generated alteast till the point where the script has been crashed giving me hard time to go back and rerun the entire script again especially if i have to run over 100 test cases per execution :(

Also this is a licensed tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**

If your organisation can afford for licensing this is a very good tool for Functional testing automation. Easy to use with all inbuilt features like checkpoints, Object repository , data tables, reports, functional libraries, reusing actions etc.

**What problems is Opentext functional Testing solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was my first QA automation tool which i have learned and used to build over 400+ regression test cases automation. Results sharing is very easy to the higher management by sharing the charts from results viewer, Micro Player can be used to record script execution and save for demo purposes or future references to train new joiners etc.

**What do you like best about Opentext functional Testing?**

it can perform multiple tests simultaneously, we can change test, debug tests and manage parameters. It allows running distributed tests on multiple machines. The versatility of it means it is also used to load data for the training department to use thus speeding up their work too. Without a robust automation suite, businesses would not be competitive in this day and age and for me, UFT helps to fulfill that need with ease.

**What do you dislike about Opentext functional Testing?**

It is a bit slow and acts erratically. Not a good support from hp for any issue.a lot CPU utilization which makes the performance altogether low.

**Recommendations to others considering Opentext functional Testing:**
