## OpenText Core Fax Reviews
  ### 1. Moving to Next Generation Faxing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Xmedius is extremely flexible in how it can deliver Fax Messages, it's also nice to have the Service Provider Edition and split up departments to customize their faxing needs, while maintaining a level of security between Departments in compliance with HIPAA, etc. Scalability is also key, with some great fail-over capabilities. Their Technical Support is top notch and is always willing to help regardless of the issue.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Lack of a MAC App to integrate MACs into Xmedius, the inability to chain "Sites" within the Service Provider Edition, to combine SITES, while still maintaining settings between sites. Also, with so many features available within Xmedius, sometimes it's hard for a business to understand the "Best Practices" on how yo setup Xmedius, and they don't do a good enough job in assisting here.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Once implemented, get ready for an explosion of growth, it will become a large undertaking. Also, this system requires multiple disciplines within IT to work together seamlessly, or it will get messy fast.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to deliver more reliable faxing through our enterprise, while offering new features that have not been available. Also in our industry, we have quite a few Fax Servers, of various brands in our environment, we are working to consolidate them all to one Fax Server.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Desktop client is available only as WebClient.
SW Client for end users will be appreciated. Only simple SendFax app can be installed.
Vendor Knowledge base could be improved, it is not easy to find solution for simple issues, and mostly all the time I need to create vendor service ticket for issues Im having

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

I can definitely recommend XMFax for all business units where faxing solution is needed.
XM Fax can be installed and configured without any special knowledge, standard sytem admin can do it I believe ;) it is also do not require special knowledge for administration tasks.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company is able to follow PCI standards with XM Fax solution. Users can easily configure own applications and integrate them with XMFax solution with many options starting with simple SMTP, EWS, WEB gui, and much more
also custom customization for specific reports and fax delivery can be configured using Python Scripts

  ### 3. XMedius Cloud Fax Service (XMFax) Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shawn U. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

We recently migrated from RightFax (on-prem) to XMedius Fax and no longer need to host the infrastructure in house. The account provisioning process is quick and simple. Technical support is generally very responsive and helpful. I pestered them with lots of questions initially and they assisted me with every single one.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Their technical support ticketing system is separate from their provisioning ticketing system. I will elaborate. I opened several tech support tickets and had a great experience emailing back and forth with support. My issues were handled promptly. When I submitted a number porting request application, I got an email saying the request was denied because the name on the form was not authorized with the carrier. No big deal. I addressed the issue and replied to the email asking how to proceed. I heard nothing. Over the course of two weeks I emailed them several times and received no response. Eventually I called in only to discover that there are two systems and if I reply to an email from the provisioning system it essentially goes nowhere. Instead I needed to log back into the portal, look up the provisioning request, go to the comments tab and enter my replies there. No one tells you this. You need to figure it out on your own. It's obviously not the end of the world, but given that our old fax platform was no longer working, it did have an impact. I will say that once I understood how to communicate with the provisioning team, things went much better.

One other thing - they don't have native integration with Active Directory. They have a very convoluted way to periodically sync using a Python script. For such a mainstream service, I would expect better integration with at least the most popular systems like Active Directory. Same goes for the initial import of users. I spent a couple hours trying to get the Python script to work and eventually just ended up manually creating accounts as needed. It was not worth the headache, though it now introduces another system that needs to be maintained manually.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

It's simple to set up, easy to use, and support is helpful. As a cloud service, it takes away some of the challenges of hosting an on-prem faxing platform.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RightFax was very antiquated and temperamental. XMedius seems simpler and we no longer have to worry about supporting an outdated platform in-house. Support for the old system was poor, which meant more time spent resolving problems. The combination of better support and moving to the cloud means a more stable, reliable service for our users.

**Official Response from Eduardo Duque:**

> Hi Shawn,

We’re glad the XM Fax solution is working out well for your needs.

Thank you for your valuable feedback about the number porting system and Active Directory integration. We will look into improving the messaging directing recipients of provisioning request emails to the portal. It’s possible we can make it clearer/more prominent. XM Fax users can access the service in a variety of ways besides the web portal, but that convenience brings with it a tradeoff: native integration with Active Directory is unfortunately not possible. However, we’re going to add an item to our development backlog to review our Python integration to see how we can improve it.

Customer support is very fast and reliable. I get quick replies and follow ups any time I have an issue.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Comments made on each fax are not shared between users who have access to the same fax number.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Can't think of anything

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Control of info sent in faxes. We have HIPAA regulations to follow.

**Official Response from Eduardo Duque:**

> Hi Matthew, thank you so much for your kind review. We’re glad XM Fax is delivering for you!

We also love your very valuable feedback regarding multi-recipient notification, access tracking within teams, and a tagging system. We’re looking into adding something to address those concerns to the roadmap.

Thanks again!

**Reviewed by:** Mark D. | Sr. Solutions Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The support resources that are available are incredible. They respond very quickly and are able to provide the required information. Will Larson does a great job supporting us and his training has been very valuable.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Documentation can sometimes be difficult to find information. It would also be nice to have an easier way to print confirmation pages at fax time.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

The product is very easy to implement and the support is outstanding.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our largest Xmedius customer is adding devices and locations every week. They love the Xerox connector and convenience of not having to run analog fax lines when offices or devices move.

  ### 6. Thomas' Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

I can send faxes right from my desktop, without having to go to the fax machine.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

What's not to like? It's a great product. I suppose if anything it would be that it doesn't work if the internet is down?

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

XM Fax is a good product. Everyone who uses it for the first time is surprised at the user friendly GUI and ease of usage.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solved the issue with XM support when we wanted to include a east side company to our Xmedius server. The assistance was great.

  ### 7. World class, enterprise quality support from XMedius

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Perry G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The ability to customize XM Fax and adapt to any fax requirement is paramount. From web services to third-party integration and connections, no one can compete with XM Fax.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

The technical configuration and reliance on third party products can introduce support challenges, especially for the novice.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Employ a knowledgable and experience reseller

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've successfully integrated XM Fax with document management solutions, database management tools and Transaction Authorization systems. I've also connected XM Fax to a wide variety of telecommunication and email platforms. I've helped customers make large savings in head count, telecommunications costs, management overhead, and even governance and liability exposure.

  ### 8. Faxing made easy!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valarie B. | Applications Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Makes faxing easy for our staff and allows us to cancel our analog phone lines and dispose of our outdated fax machines.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

I don't care for the pre-paid subscription plans that expire in 1, 3 or 5 years. We had to (gu)estimate how many fax pages are sent and received because as an organization, this information was not known. We didn't want to purchase too many credits and have them expire before they were used (wasted money), but also wanted to take advantage of lower pricing per page by buying more credits.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By implementing a FIOP solution, our staff who are currently working from home due to the pandemic, are now receive incoming faxes via email. This allows us to stay HIPAA and FERPA compliant by not having this information sitting at a fax machine while the offices are closed.

  ### 9. Simple and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

So far I have not had any dislikes to report

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

None at this tme

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fax distribution and the ability for the user to track fax status without intervention.

  ### 10. The application is mature, the team that supports it, they are just phenomenal.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick C. | Support Analyst II, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

We are a hosted solution provider and work with many application vendors, out of the dozens of support teams for those applications the Xmedius support team has always been the most responsive. Everyone is knowledgable about the product and I've never had to stop and think "what are our SLA's for their support?", I can count the application vendor teams like that on one hand and the Xmedius support team is the top of that list.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

That we don't have the opportunity for introducing more products by them.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Health and education-related requirements for maintaining fax in a digital era. The benefits would be the dramatic improvement on the modern Faxing process and Toughbook-like reliability of the Xmedius product we use.

  ### 11. Support is great and the product is top notch.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

XM Fax is a great product to use in place of a physical Fax. Easy to work with and maintain and eliminates paper waste. This is a great service to use for our purposes and for many of our customers.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

There don't seem to be any downsides to using XM Fax. It gets the job done and does it well. The newest version expands on the already great product and just makes it better. At first glance, the system is a little confusing for the Administrator but overall it is intuitive once you get used to the interface.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

This is a great product and I'm glad that we have it and looking forward to using it more and also to further use and alterations to our config in the future.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not needing to have fax equipment all over the place for different people and also there's no possibility of someone picking up the wrong fax or seeing someone's information that doesn't need to. Security is top on our list for using XM Fax and the improvements and upgrades that are in version 9.0 really sell the system and make it even better.

  ### 12. Easy to use and administrate.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Easy to administrate and no misplaced faxed documents. We use several shared fax numbers and XMedius has made sharing fax "machines" and keeping faxes secure a breeze.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

not really a down side as it's common, the phone number porting process can sometimes be lengthy (Do not think this is XMedius telecom rather our telecom trying to delay the port).

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Use the mass import feature to setup your organization.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We save money over physical lines, we have eliminated lost/misplaced faxes.

Definitely check out this product.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to get rid of our fax lines.

  ### 14. XMedius - Does what it was designed to do. Tech support is fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

The UI is a little outdated and some of the views do not have the ability to sort columns. The services can be a little slow to restart.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Reduce your carbon footprint by almost eliminating paper.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For compliance reasons we need to limit the number of people that have access to faxing. XMedius allows us to do this with ease.
Paperless faxes

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

That I waited too long to begin using it. No other dislikes to-date.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I handle employee leave of absences and everything is time sensitive, both sendinng and receiving feedback.
The benefit that stands out the most is that I don't get the error of the manual fax machine, "FAILED TRANSMISSION".

  ### 16. Customer service before, during and after purchase of xMedius Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mirella C. | Chef des télécommunications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

We feel that there is a genuine desire on their end to work with us in finding customized solutions to solve the hospital's many challenges. They are quick at resolving issues when they present themselves. By issues, I do not mean technical issues. I am referring to reorganization issues internally which necessitate customization from XMedius. It is a very solid technology with no downtime.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

We have not encountered any downsides with the solution.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Have them present you all the features that are possible. Even if you do not integrate them all at the beginning, this will help you plan strategic improvements that will give you visibility and simplify your internal processes.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially, our biggest challenge was replacing all analog faxes. We are in a totally IP environment so their solution has definitely helped us. We are presently working together to simplify our Send Fax option.

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

the ability to send faxes from Outlook client, a Xerox MFP, and the XMedius app on your phone

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

Nothing i dislike, sometimes the prospect is afraid of change and it can be difficult to convince them to realize the positive impact of being able to send faxes from virtually anywhere as well as receive as an email or in a portal.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

If faxes are important to your business, XM Fax will vastly improve your ability to send and receive faxes. You can send faxes from email or any email enabled device, as well as receive faxes via email. Audit trail and the ability to view all sent and received faxes can help with compliance and verification. XM Fax is easy to implement and user adoption is generally very well received. Being able to discontinue analog lines is another huge advantage as telco companies are increasing the cost. Going to XM Fax can also help with relying on printed information and can compliment a "paper-lite" initiative. Custom cover pages and address books are also a nice feature. 24 hour technical support. unlimited scalability, high availability of the solution are also important features. You can keep your existing fax numbers as well as create new ones.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the customers that have implemented XMFax, either on premise or cloud, have stated they would not want to go back to analog faxing. Also an audit trail of all sent and received faxes is a powerful feature for some.

**Reviewed by:** Joffrey B. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

It's really «set it up and forget»! Handling different fax lines, fax boards, etc is always an annoying but necessary tasks. One must also try to evaluate how many lines will you need for a fax destination, in order to avoid oversaturation. And then, if you are on SIP trunks, you get other difficulties linked to the fax protocols.
With XMedius, you don't need to ponder about any of this. You get an excellent Fax Server systems in which you can configure different groups, have any number of simultaneous calls coming in to the same destination, it doesn't ring busy ever.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

We have not found anything to dislike at this time.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

see my comments above but battling issues with T38 protocols are now things of the past. By leveraging the fax server and assigning people responsible of the fax distribution, we are also reducing a lot of the useless printing that occurred in the past as well as eliminating the "lost fax" when someone pics up documents that are not theirs.
We also were able to secure faxes that are confidential by simply adding a DID and a fax user group, without having to deploy additional fax machines or fax boards.

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The routing rules to allow some offices to send faxes to printers automatically versus others going to an admin really shows the flexibility of the product.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

I wish the interface, especially of the Windows apps, got a modern facelift. The mobile app doesn't apply proper contrast algorithms so everything comes in horribly speckled and difficult to read.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

I recommend exploring getting a new fax number rather than porting because the telcos are sometimes very difficult to work with. If you're planning to port a number, start the process 3-4 weeks ahead of your target date.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How old is landline technology? It's nice to move away from those shackles.

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Local site admin GUI is very useful. Also the web GUI has the most of the admin functions. So remote desktop to the actual windows interface is not required.

  ### 32. Good concept, great support, updates and other things keep bringing it down....

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

The ability for the system to distribute the faxes to the appropriate departments folders on the company network drive. Saves time on distribution. Also the ability for the product to send faxes from any document.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

The fax server software is not user friendly and doesn't lend itself to the ability to fix issues on our own quickly. Currently when there is some form of update on the server, it causes the system not to work properly, which usually requires a reboot of software or server and then a call to support. This process usually has the system down for two plus hours from time of discovery to resolving the issue.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Work flow is much more efficient and helps speed up the process of sending and receiving faxes.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James T. | On-Site Systems Admin, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2018

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

I was a new systems admin for a company that had been using XMediusFAX on premises for years. They were on an older version, but had recently migrated to Office 365 and were trying to move other services to the cloud. XMedius worked with me to get us to the newest version quickly and painlessly, then helped us transition our services to new hardware. No issues, and no problems!

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

I haven't had any problems with XMedius at all. We are happy with their services and support.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Please avail yourself of their support when setting up and getting started. They know their product very well!

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have many customers that still use FAX as a primary means of receiving invoices. We were able to set up automated invoice emails through our system, and the customers that have fax numbers instead of email addresses, XMedius makes it easy to send to them from the same systems! And inbound faxing, they make it easy to take them and move them to the correct user based on DID or extension. Once it is set up we never have to touch it. Also, reporting is easy through XMediusFAX.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin M. | Chief Financial Officer, Textiles, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2018

**What do you like best about OpenText Core Fax?**

Its send faxes, and now I need to meet the 40 character minimum for this section.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Core Fax?**

They encouraged me to purchase Fax Credits in bulk so we would not run out and I paid $1200. Then after 12 months they expired and 50% of them had not been used. They just told me too bad you need to purchase more. So a waste of $600. They have no way to automatically refill the fax credits, They are unable to charge a credit card to pay for them, they have no phone number for customer service when you call tech support in India they just take you name and phone number and say someone will call you back. Big waste of money.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Core Fax:**

Make sure you never purchase fax credits unless you are 100% sure they will be used by the expiration date. Don't expect to be able to contact someone to help you.

**What problems is OpenText Core Fax solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am only creating a problem by costing the Company money
