**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

It's easy to maintain project. Easy to assign people. Result update by manually and automated way and report page is too good. Its centralize project management too. I love this tool very much. I would like to recommended this tool strongly.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

If you provide a light weight video link for a general problem. it would be good. I don't know how to export report to a PPT. Like some general information link should be there along with video.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Yes

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was a QA engineer and a tech Lead. My team works for a enterprise management software and storage product validation. we use it our manually result and we have a separate setup for automation after that we export result to QC

  ### 2. ALM Leads the way, but is it getting left behind?

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dusty J. | Principal Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

I've primarily used HP ALM as a test planning and test execution tool. I've used it at multiple companies as a quality industry-standard tool. HP ALM provides for easy requirement traceability in the Requirements module (though that relationship is easily broken). It has robust reporting capabilities--far beyond what I found necessary for the scope of my work. It's fairly easy to parameterize a test case, in order to perform data-driven testing. It was easy to look at a list of test cases/configurations and see which ones had been executed. I've always liked the defect tracking in ALM. It's easy to create a bug while executing a test and tie it directly to the step being executed, or to create a general bug and list out the steps to reproduce.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

I wish you could dock/undock the screen when creating test cases. The text on the screen is entirely too small to read it as you enter the text, or as you try to execute a test case, and there's no way to increase the font size or change the font. There's no way to change the default font size/type.

Once I parameterized a test case, I found it difficult to work with the test case configurations. I couldn't create a new suite of test case configurations as a new test run/test build without creating copies of EVERY test case configuration when often times I only wanted a subset, meaning I had to delete the configs I didn't need/want. Once I have multiple configs built, I want to be able to manage them as individual tests.

It was easy to filter a list of test configs to find out which ones I owned, but without creating a report, I couldn't view all the test cases I owned across multiple test suites. With a large team, working on a large project, there needs to be better visibility of the test cases/configurations not completed, and who owns them, or a way for testers to find all the test cases they own to make sure everything is completed or to find test cases that can be run, when some tests may be blocked by an issue.

I wish you could create default text to be generated within the bug window when creating a bug so that standard information was entered and collected. When every tester follows the same format, and provides the same basic information (Summary, Environment, OS/Browser, Module/Feature/Function, Description with Steps to Reproduce, and Expected vs. Actual Results), it makes it easier for developers to reproduce an issue.

The requirements traceability is fragile, and easily broken. In a waterfall environment, we used standard requirement documents, which we uploaded/attached to the requirements we manually entered into ALM. I saw several instances where someone updated a requirement or added the exact same requirement, without updating the traceability to an existing test case. Now you had duplicate requirements, but test cases that still pointed to the old requirement, or didn't point to any requirements.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

I would consider the other options available, such as JIRA or Rally, and how robust your defect tracking/reporting must be for the pace of your development. If you need robust reporting capabilities and defect tracking, ALM is unmatched, but if you need a light-weight, flexible solution, there's probably a better option.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used ALM for a big team, working on a big project. Upper management used ALM's robust reporting capabilities to see everything going on with the project. With those reports being so data-driven, it was important that everyone enter the correct data or make the correct selections, in order to produce the correct result and give management an accurate picture of the project. The benefit for management was the ability to manage a large team, working on a large project, with multiple components, all at the same time.

I like that it is user friendly, easy to use and has a very nice layout. I can also say that it has more features compared to IBM's RQM in organizing test cases and test scripts.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

What I don't like is it crashes sometimes and we were not able to connect MS Excel to HP ALM to do automatic import of test cases.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to solve the problem to track our test execution day by day by having a standard report generated in HP ALM.

  ### 8. HP QC review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

The option to manage all the tests in one tool (requirements , tests plan , running the tests and manage defects).
The tool gives a good picture about the state tests and available to other then QA team.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

1. Requirements : It is give option for failed or success only. so if you have 10 requirements and only 1 failed then all the requirement mark as failed. it will better if HP will display it as %. It will show the real requirements status.
2. You can't have an option to change fonts or / and change the fonts size (for test plan , test lab and defects). this is basic feature that actually missing.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

The QC is not cheap tool but in the end of the day your ROI will be fast. you will not spent your time to understand if your product quality are good and you include all the requirements and will not spent time to generate report to your managers (they can do it easily!)

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In order to manage the QA in any company , you must central toll. the best tool that existing is HP -QC .
It is save time and money and give you the option to know on line what is the real Quality of your products or projects.

  ### 13. quality centre

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

It covers full SDLC, manages requirements and testing and gives a full view of the world regardless of method.

One of my favourite features is the ability to capture evidence within test execution. You can then associate screen evidence at step level. The tool also nicely integrates with other HP tools such as QTP which is now known as UFT from version 12. There are also many third party plugins available for integration.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Sadly the price and user cost is high, however based on company size you can factor this in

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

I have been in the software testing industry for nearly 20 years. I have used many tools and find that QC always comes out as the favourite. It ticks all the boxes for all of the SDLC and covers end to end testing nicely. One of my favourite features is the ability to capture evidence with in the execution run time so you can associate screens with steps. This helps for many ISO standards.

The tools also integrate nicely into other HP and third party applications.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This would cover full SDLC eg requirements and planning and release and test and execution and incident management and reporting

  ### 14. Liked the flexibility of Quality Center

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

I liked the way you can organize your test cases and test scripts. It allows for reuse and can speed up the testing process and ability to provide status to management.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

I do not like that you cannot have multiple test scripts tied to one test case. Or that you can reuse the same test case. You have to copy the test case to reuse it. I want to create the test case once and execute it multiple times for each release.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Have a plan in place as to how you want to test before you select a tool. Do not pick a tool then figure out how you want to standardize your testing. Allow the tool to work for you and if your process doesn't fit in the tool review your process so the tool can help your process.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the problem of not having a standard way of reporting testing status. We have been able to get teams reporting on the same reports and in the same standard way.

  ### 15. Not too sure

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Agile Architect, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

It has a large foothold in the market which is a pro and con. The support of the product is backed by a very large company.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Took years to get away from IE 8 when even Microsoft ran for the hills. It is super expensive and it was tied at the hip with Internet Explorer which is pretty bad. Then it was tied to QTP which was based on vbscript. I heard some people took that in college.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

if you hate IE you might not like quality center.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visibility of testing and potential quality concerns.

  ### 16. Nice tools for Program functional and technical testing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

The function of tracking the program defect and user friendly interface. Workflow function to route the completed test result to next level reviewer.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

It is not easy to continue the test after the test is stopped accidentally.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Find out the program defect issues and have the solution to fix the defect in the proper ways.

  ### 17. Great quality software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

The management of defects - fast, easy and effective.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

The limitations of statistics available - for example when displaying overview of test results.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Select this tool if you want an easy, simple and straight forward way to monitor your test execution plan. Furthermore, it can be used to store test repository for future use. Defect management is also easy to follow with features such as linking defects to test scripts and exporting useful statistics. However the options are limited and there is room for improvement.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems had to do with the prioritisation of the tests and the identification of critical tests that had to be run. The benefits were that it was easy to monitor the test execution and make estimates of project delivery.

  ### 18. Quailty Center is a great tool for Application Life Cycle Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Great ability to customize Projects and entities within the Project

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Limits on Project size. There is not a lot of issue with this product. It is just a great tool that serves the purpose.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Keep Projects small in size

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great Dashboard Reporting, Defect management, Requirements Management.

  ### 19. Quality Center tool facilitated test management

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Release Management and Dashboard - Release management has been designed for smoother tracebility between the Test Set, Test Plan and Requirements. Different types of Metrics and Reports can be generated in Dashboard by using SQL queries.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

Third party add-in Ex:Configuring crystal reports – It is very difficult to configure third party add-ins

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Administering complex configurations on single instance and at the same time providing the flexibility for unique configurations, without impacting the standard workflow is always challenging. This approach can be achieved by using Quality Center

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Workflow standardisation and reuse - various projects which are aligned by development, maintenance, support groups and each team has specific need. By implementing the standard logic using VB Script, we designed the Standard Workflow which was very helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Best tool to use in the market

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used personally QC tool..write, execute and defect tracking tool in one..makes life easier than have a defect tracking tool separate. There is lots in QC, like graphs, tracking, etc...

  ### 22. Quality Center Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

The Test Configuration option is the one I like most. It helps in reducing the time during script creation and also pater on when more similar scrips needs to be added. we can just update the Test Configuration.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

its inability to do Parameters for each step is a drawback.
Also, we are not able to upload Call in Scripts into scripts. We need to map it after the script is been uploaded into ALM from Excel.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

Pretty good tool. Single repository for all needed.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Here we are using AC/ALM for uploading Test Cases and mapping them to Requirements, running the test cases and raising defects.

  ### 23. Defect management & QA by HP QC

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krunal R. | Technical Compliance - Project manager, Consumer Electronics, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

It's the best tool for Quality Assurance - testing, defect tracking and management.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

There are still many bugs that needs to be improved and taken care of by HP management.
- Running scripts can some time take forever
- The application requires many ad-ons and installations each time you load HP QC
- The server crash issue while loading the application
- The application freezes

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

It's a nice tool for anyone who would like to manage their IT or business needs for defects tracking and issue resolution.

**What problems is OpenText Application Quality Management solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a feature for RTM (Requirement Traceability Matrix) - we wanted to have a good coverage around the test defects before we finally go live.
- Hierarchy structure is well organized - Test plan and test lab module are displayed in the tree (hierarchy) structure and easily accessible
- Good view for end user and tester to operate while using this product
- Very nice export feature for the data that you would like to have it on your desktop, files or server - easily integrated with various reporting options available like excel, word, etc.
- You can set your mailbox information in HP Quality center and by having it configured in the tool, you can receive an auto email notification each time you want to see a defect being logged, actioned by any user or tester or if it's being resolved
- You can set priorities for the defects that are being tracked and logged - based on the business criticality, you can deem it as Low, Medium or High (Critical) - 3, 2 and 1 rankings
- Reporting features are available in various format and can be easily customized if needed

**What do you like best about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

I appreciate that since the acquisition of Mercury Interactive Co., the HP Software Division has improved since most of its products came from that acquisition. This product is an alright option for IT quality assurance of various software applications.

**What do you dislike about OpenText Application Quality Management?**

When dealing with products that are targeted towards IT minded persons a company should review the quality assurance of its own product before releasing it. As with many HP products there are many bugs to be weeded out and even when the system functions properly it is inadequate.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText Application Quality Management:**

A large part of quality assurance is reporting. Review JIRA for there query functions.
