## OpenTable for Restaurants Reviews
 ### 1. Mixed Feelings on OT

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Marketing Power - campaigns and visibility on the OT network is unmatched

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Very complicated, not very user friendly. To set up exceptions and a floorplan with rules, dining room assignments, all very complicated. The new review system is also discouraging where you have to download a report each time vs previously when it was sent in the body of an email.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like the snapshot on covers as compared to local market.

 ### 2. Reliable, Professional, and Easy to Use – Just Wish It Was More Affordable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max R. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

We've been loyal OpenTable customers for years, and the platform continues to be an essential part of our restaurant’s operations. The app is incredibly user-friendly for both our guests and our team, making reservations and table management seamless.

Whenever we've had to reach out to customer service—which is rare—the support has been nothing short of excellent. Whether it's through phone or chat, our issues are always resolved quickly and with a high level of professionalism.

Overall, OpenTable has been a dependable partner, and we appreciate the value it brings to our business.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

If we had one piece of feedback, it would be on pricing. The per-cover charges can really add up over time, and for small to mid-sized restaurants, that cost can be tough to absorb. A more flexible or tiered pricing model would go a long way.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manually managing reservations and tracking guest information. By automating these processes, it's saved our team valuable time and reduced the risk of errors or double bookings. We’re able to easily access guest history, preferences, and notes, which helps us deliver a more personalized experience. The platform streamlines front-of-house operations and gives us better visibility into our dining room, allowing for smoother service and smarter planning.

 ### 3. Strong Basic Software with Interesting Extras

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable is a long-proven juggernaut in the restaurant reservations space. They have a broad user-base of guests looking for reservations and remove a lot of the friction in gathering guest info, securing reservations at difficult time slots, protecting the restaurant against late cancellations and no-shows (credit card guarantee), and marketing additional aspects of the restaurant (e.g. dining areas, menu, special events, private dining). OpenTable is relatively easy to use from an operations standpoint and can be mastered by most, from the 16 year-old host to a later-in-life semi-retired hospitality lifer who can't give it up just yet. The back-office and availability planning options can be as in-depth or as bare-bones as you need. At times, when I have run into technical issues, their chat-based customer support has been very helpful and relatively quick in solving issues.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable has developed many additional features in recent months/years to compete with other reservation software competitors or to adapt to changing landscape of dining out (thank you, covid). At times, the implementation of these features may have been rushed such that their implementation was short-sided and not as beneficial as first intended. Furthermore, OpenTable is very device-specific: meaning that features available on iOS are different from what is available via an internet browser. OpenTable seems to be taking steps recently to narrow this gap; however, their Android-based mobile app lags far behind and is comically useless at times. I write this as an Android phone user who utilizes the OT app on my phone daily.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenTable excels at marketing our restaurant and optimizing reservations to maximize the number of guests we can seat in a given time period. OpenTable also gathers important contact info from guests and allows us to expand our communications and guest-resource management.

 ### 4. Easy to use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christina M. | Sales & Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Open Table is easy to use and provides a good way for customers to reserve their table and keep all their information.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

We wish we could add an ordering service to this to combine another software that we use.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Seating chart and table reservations,. We love how it saves important guest data to use to our advantage to target specific customers.

 ### 5. Revenue Booster

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jama F. | Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable has allowed us the opportunity to save money in multiple ways.

First, we are able to seat more guests. More seat, more revenue.

We also are able to free up time spent on the phone taking manual reservations, or tying up the phone for carry out orders.

Lastly, we are able to staff appropriately by forecasting using previously recorded data.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable does not currently sync with calendars or our POS. Currently, the price seems a bit high (sometimes offsetting the savings) however, once these implementations take effect, the value will increase.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reservations

 ### 6. Great new features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

We recently upgraded to Pro and it has been a great investment. I really like the private dining feature as well. We have already started getting leads!!

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I wish there was more ability to Google guests and find out more about them from the OpenTable interface.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Private Dining has been a great add on to generate new leads for large parties

 ### 7. Perfect when you’re away from your computet

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Easy to access reservations quickly for when you’re away from the restaurant

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Hard to see stacked reservations or see the floor view when booking

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This platform keeps our reservations organized and communicates departments

 ### 8. Great Software, but very pricey

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonel Z. | Director Of Food And Beverage, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Comparing the current guest center in Open Table to what it had 2 years ago, I have to say that Open Table has really stepped up its game. The Experience feature was very hard to use, especially when restaurants were trying to run a special event alongside the normal operation. Now the Experience feature is much easier to do and changes are effective faster. Another Upside of OT is their customer service. I only use CHAT when I need help, they are fast and the agents are very well-trained.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Open Table is a very expensive reservation management system, and its cost can make sense if their marketing and boost campaigns were included in their fees, but they are add-ons to the cost. The price doesn't make sense, especially when so many other reservation management systems charge a flat rate, regardless of the number of reservations through OT or using their widget on the restaurant's websites.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open Table has definetaly helped managing the influx of reservations, by adjusting the reservation pace and targeting the slowest time slots. Also, their Review feature is a good measure for the restaurants to get guest feedback in real time and with statistics.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hello Leonel,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our Experiences feature easier to use. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

Thank you again!

 ### 9. Long time user

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Able to see past history and reservations years in the past. Does a pretty good job of managing online reservations.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The setting for tables (sizes, combinations) is hard to navigate, the special day setting is difficult to set up. Anytime I'm needed to modify a day or set something up special it takes time to just figure it out. I don't have support from a rep, not even sure I have one. I have worked with regular support to help with my table combo issues but the 3 times I called I got different answers and it's still not working correctly, so were managing it the best we can.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None that im aware of.

 ### 10. Open table/paradiso37

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I like the ease of use and how easy and streamlined it is the collect customer information and link it with specific tables

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Sometimes the customers get texted their reservation after they are already seated. This is glitch in the system

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customers are making reservations and have access to to availability information in real time

 ### 11. Better than Resy

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Some of the user interface could be more intuitive.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us manage reservations and seating.

 ### 12. Open table experience restaurant side

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Walk ins I can handle

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I haven’t had any dislikes yet to be honest
Everything is stright forward

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basically, we were old school. We will take over the phone reservations and reservations in person so we were limited.

 ### 13. Good for reservation software

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Advertising used to be more effective. It's expensive now with less results.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing guest flow and allowing staff to prepare for busy shifts

 ### 14. A platform that is trying to move into the 21st century, it works but you pay for it.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron W. | Company Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Opentable is a well-regarded and trusted platform, with many customers around the world. All of its systems work well and there are lots of add-on options such as marketing controls, special events etc. I like the fact that our customers are easily able to use the system, many of them having been indoctrinated to Opentable over the years - we never have any guest complaints about the system or with their Opentable accounts. There is always someone at the end of an email or on the phone if we need it too.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Opentable is sometimes prohibitively expensive - I'd love to say you get what you pay for, but in some regards, Opentable can end up being a pay to win solution. This will suit larger restaurants and chains with bigger budgets well, but Opentable does not have a cheaper plan for independant restaurants, they charge the same no matter if you have 10 seats or 100. If you want extra features to help your small restaurant out - promotions, guest dining rewards etc. these all come at an extra price on top too. FOr one of the biggest platforms out there, there should be focus on cultivating and helping smaller restaurants compete on their own marketplace.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opentable is making sure our guests can easily book our restaurant - we have tried various platforms over the years, including Opentable, but we are back on Opentable - that says a lot.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Aaron,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for marketing and special events. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

 ### 15. Table Mangement with Open Table

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer v. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The table management is well optimized, easy to learn and use and offers easy integration for many POS systems. Additional marketing support through campaigns can help build covers in slower time periods. The support is aces! In this day and age, getting proper support on cloud based systems can be rough and the live chat with OT always delivers. We use OT daily and is is easy to train on and use for all staff.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

You get what you pay for but the use of the widget created for experiences means that reservations booked through this channel cost you per cover. It is a hefty fee each month for the basic account plus all the cover charges so not a viable option for small businesses.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Table management is key for Open Table, this allows us to maximize covers in busy periods and incentivize covers in the slower periods.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for table management. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

 ### 16. Expensive and fine

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam P. | Director of Restaurants, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Getting on-boarded is very smooth. Since it's been around so long, it's familiar to guests and staff. It's easy to turn off reservations and pro-actively reminds you about holidays.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable is expensive and it's hard to customize once their very helpful team has set up the program.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reservation management. Reservations are easy to make and track.

 ### 17. Great Customer Service, Big Expense

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicole H. | Corporate Food and Beverage Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable has various tools they are not just a reservation tool. They assist with things like ticketed events, email marketing, and have dozens of integrations to help support your business as well. Their software is very user friendly for both the user and the guest when booking. Customer service is very quick to respond when you have a question or need a resolution. They are also some of the happiest people I've worked with so their company culture must be great.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The fees can add up quickly. You dont think much when you sign up for promotions that are $1 or $5 per cover, but our high volume restaurants pay upwards of $3k/month for covers.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting guests in seats during historically slow times

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Nicole,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for planning ticketed events and email marketing. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

 ### 18. Nice platform but expensive.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Easy to use and good customer support. We have use it for more than 10 year. And are happy with Open Table.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I like the software and we find it helpful and you could justify the price when there were no other systems but now there are a lot other plataaforms and there are less expensive.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reservations

 ### 19. Great System with a Strong Guest Network, but Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felix P. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

We use OpenTable to manage digital reservations in our restaurant, and overall, we are very satisfied. The guest network that OpenTable offers is truly outstanding and consistently brings us new visitors. In addition, the many available tools provided by the system are likely the best selection currently available on the market. The integration into our daily operations works smoothly and makes our work significantly easier.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

However, there are some areas that could be improved. For instance, we receive noticeably fewer reviews from guests who made their reservation via OpenTable compared to our previous system. This is unfortunate, as reviews are an important part of our feedback process. Furthermore, the backend is somewhat confusing at times and requires more time to get used to than we would like. Despite these points, we do not regret our decision and can recommend OpenTable as a reservation system.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenTable helps businesses solve several key challenges in managing reservations and customer engagement. First, it offers a robust guest network, connecting restaurants with a large number of potential diners, which helps attract new customers. This has been a significant benefit for us, as it drives more traffic to our restaurant through online visibility. Additionally, the comprehensive tools for managing reservations, table assignments, and customer data streamline operations, making it easier to handle reservations efficiently and improve the overall guest experience.

However, while the system effectively manages the reservation process, one issue we've encountered is the lower number of guest reviews compared to our previous system, which affects the feedback loop we rely on for improvements. Despite this, OpenTable's tools and guest network still provide great value, especially in driving new business and simplifying reservation management.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Felix,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for managing reservations and attracting guests. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

 ### 20. Good functionality to Maximize Reservations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I like that OpenTable for Restaurants has the capability to prioritize which tables will book first. The system also does a good job of moving reservations to maximize the amount of reservations you can take.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable for Restaurants marketing capabilities have good reach, but can be very expensive. I also dislike the process in which you have to update availiabity in the shift settings. It is easy to forget to click "Apply" after making your selections because of the way it's laid out.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maximizing our reservations and giving us visibility to another pool of guests.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for maximizing reservations. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

 ### 21. Open Table is easy to use, efficient, allows for communication with guests and increases our covers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dwayne R. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

It is easy to navigate the floor plans. I like that you can easily communicate with guests and keep guest history saved.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The events page could be more user freindly. It is difficult to use the events portion.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OT Captures reservations that we may not get otherwise. Potential customers know open table as a brand so it certainly drives more reservations to our restaurant that we might not get otherwise.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Dwayne,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for organizing your floorpan and easy for your team to use. ### 22. User friendly platform...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adriana H. | Reservations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

This user-friendly booking platform is very efficient when it comes to finding a great restaurant in your area. One of the best features is that it offers an extensive database of restaurants and it allows users to easily search for restaurants based on various criteria, including cuisine, location, price range, and availability. Booking a table through OpenTable is easy, with just a few clicks, I can secure a reservation at my preferred date and time. Another aspect of OpenTable that I appreciate is its user-generated reviews and ratings. Before making a reservation, I often browse through the reviews to get a sense of other diners'

As a manager, it creates a lot of exposure, and guests can easily find us to choose one of the experiences that we offer. Additionally, they get points and rewards for booking through OpenTable.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Some of my favorite restaurants are not available on OpenTable to book. Also, it can be messy at it offers different options, features and experiences for different restaurants and areas.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Exposure, it helps our marketing team activate campaigns.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Adriana,

Thank you for using OpenTable! We appreciate your continued partnership and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. We are glad you’re finding our platform helpful for creating exposure for your restaurant and our experiences feature for your business. We value your feedback, please continue to share it so we can continue to optimize and offer the best experience.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Once open table integrated with Tripleseat, that made me stay with open table. I find everything more user friendly than resy for example

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I wish price would come down competitively to compete with resy

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking reservations, keeps making improvements, integrations, texting.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Amy,

 ### 24. Good for Tech-savvy users

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Scheduling is easy, viewing on multiple platforms allows us to control with great detail and precision our guests booking. Integration with the POS provides history on spend and allows us to review past visits to add detials to their profile, personalizing the experience and creating a bit of a WOW factor. Menu integration now provides a simple and seemless way to manage our menu on our OpenTable page. Complex algorithms for limiting tables and guest counts, while not perfect, helps tremendously in preventing over booking (the tech savvy part...) and let's us customize special days to adjust from the normal schedule. The addition of "Experiences" is welcome, and provides a valuable tool for special occasions or events, although it can be challenging to understand all the settings required for it to function properly.
Overall, it is a strong, technical platform that is well known and well regarded and there is not doubt using it's capabilities has helped us to grow our guest count while retaining our regular guests.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Understanding the scheduling (in Availability Settings) takes a bit of trial and effort and I have not found any clearly defined, detailed description of all of the options and how they interact. It has only been over a couple years of trying things to get a setup that is close to what we want. Still learning settings and how they impact our reservations.
Platform Parity - I know it's a challege to create an application that functions the same on multiple devices. It is challenging when you have to go from one device to another to get the information you're seeking. It takes unneccesary time and effort.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing the most accurate reservation solution with relative ease of use (once you understand how to setup everthing) which provides our guests with the best online experience before arriving at the restaurant.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

 ### 25. Great Platform!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marty E. | Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

We switched to OpenTable a couple of years ago and what a difference it has made! Our reservations have increased and the platform is very easy to navagate.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

That's it's not free!!!! The one thing I wish the site woud do is to provide a total number of canceltions in a particular day. It will show the parties that have canceled but it does not provide a running total like it does for custmers who are seated or on the wait list.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenTable is by far much better than any of their competitors. We switched from Tock and the difference is night and day! We can manage our reservation flow much better and the number of users on Open Table far exceed the number of users who use Tock

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

Some challenges with having multi-priced events through the platform, but this has been rectified. Some secuirity measures seem extreme

 ### 30. Great Product

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

As a user, I've consistently found OpenTable to be incredibly user-friendly. It's very easy to use and I love the reporting on it. Customer like it as well through our website.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

One issue I have encountered is the ability for individuals to use the same phone number to make reservations at multiple restaurants simultaneously. This can lead to confusion and inefficiencies, especially for restaurants that experience high demand for reservations. For example, I have seen instances where a single individual books reservations at multiple popular restaurants for the same time slot, only to cancel all but one at the last minute, leaving other potential diners without the opportunity to book a table. This has caused many problems with us.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monica B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable has been great for managing our reservations but our favorite feature is the to-go ordering platform that markets our restaurant to a wide range of customers who may not have dined with us before or even known about our menu items. The back end is super easy to use and modifying reservation limits or turning off reservations if needed is very quick and easy, making it a breeze for our hostest to assist walk-in guests and prepare for our upcoming reservations at the same time.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Although it is a wonderful and easy-to-use platform it can be quite costly.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenTable is the only software we use for reservation management and has been a wonderful tool for tracking both online and call in reservations.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Monica,

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Douglas S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Open Table has always been the leader since it's inception of restaurant reservations. It's the one that most people know and go to inputting myself when I'm looking for personal dining. I have used it as a restaurant manager pretty much since it's inception and I've always appreciated the advancements and upgrades that you have created.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The system is intuitive, and generally easy to use and easy to train my employees on.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does a wonderful job on busy, popular event, weekends of storing credit card information and ensuring that we have a little to know cancellations and no-shows last minute. This is probably one of the most important features for me.

 ### 36. Previously a valued business partner

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

They were a trusted business partner for almost 20 years. They remain our reservation software. Prior to mergers and buying up so many other companies many years ago, their support was the best of the best. They tripped up big time by growing too fast. They did their best to recover, and I can say they did a good job of getting back to being good (not great, but very good). The actions they took to help their restaurants survive COVID were above and beyond. My main account reps are very responsive, available, and helpful.
They are constantly innovating, which is helpful. Integration is very easy. The user interface is pretty straightforward and most users adapt easily.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Their "upgrade" to Guest Center was not appreciated by me as a long-term administrator. I was mislead by my sales rep at the time about certain features that would remain in the upgrade. 5 years later I am still begging for a return of some of those features that my large facility needs.
Lately, I have come to question their billing practices for reservation tracking and it has left a very bad feeling that I cannot shake. I hate writing this about a company I have trusted for so many years, but the fact remains that they have not been able to give me the assurances I need to feel I was billed correctly. They did, however, put me on a new plan that allows a more clear "charge" going forward. It does not give me any assurances that I was not incorrectly billed in the past, and it's no secret that OpenTable has a reputation as one of the priciest reservation solutions in the market, so any mistakes in reservations that were charged and maybe shouldn't have been, only makes it worse.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking reservations, the obvious stuff that it was built for. I don't use it much for excess marketing.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

> Hi Customer,

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your continued partnership with OpenTable and the trust you put in us to serve your restaurant and your customers. ### 39. We use Open Table in both restaurants for guest seating and VIP reservations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Open Table's has a great guest management platform, communicates with guests and syncs with our POS system to provide service updates. All very helpful

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The Special Days UI could be more intuitive and easy to use. When we do close a day it tags all reservations as affected even when they are not. We would love to have a kiosk feature where guests could get on a waitlist onsite on their own. Cut down on the lines at the host stand.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Guest and Table management. We are often on 2+ hour waits and the OpenTable platforms makes it easy for our team to manage that list and communicate with the guests. Also helps with VIP reservations and guest notes.

 ### 40. Amazing restaurant management and marketing service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan F. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

OpenTable has many features that help the reatuarants I work with be more successful through increasing visibility and managing our reservations efficiently. Some of my favorite features include seamless integration with POS systems, the customer reviews, and marketing opportunities. The customer support and various support resources are very helpful.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The fees that OpenTable takes can add up quickly making the service more expensive than other reservation services. Learning the various features and back-end set up can be daughting and confusing to navigate.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenTable is helping the restaurants I work with get exposure to a larger audience and increase awareness. The system allows for streamlining of reservations which helps reduce overbooking and optimized table turnovers. Overall, OpenTable is allowing our restaurants to be more efficient, increase sales, and better serve customers.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

 ### 42. A Great Platform For Restaurants With Some Caveats

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Opentable is easy to use, with powerful integrations and useful features. The Opentable network is extensive and provides a lot of exposure for restaurants they may not normally get. Customer support has always been quick to respond and resolve our issues.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Marketing features are lacking (email marketing particularly) - there are other platforms with far better spend tracking, email building and automation features out there. Overall the platform is also very expensive from a monthly fee standpoint and per cover in comparison to other platforms in the industry. The mobile app leaves something to be desired as well as the mobile web experience in comparison to desktop.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opentable makes the reservation experience easy for both the customer and the restaurant.

**Official Response from Rebecca Dupont:**

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

The reporting and ease of use. I also like that diners are kept from booking mutliple restaurants at the same time- this keeps down no-shows. And during the pandemic, when things were really tight, OT did not charge us for the platform. That was truly amazing. OT seems to really care. Support is great!

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

I'd like to be able to track better the source of reservations that submit the embedded reservation widget (only option available) on our website. We work hard on marketing... so it would be nice to know.

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opentable allows us to take reservations and manage our availability.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael C. | CEO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Open table does a great job of managing reservations in our business. It is quick to set up and easy to adjust as our needs change. Support is quick to help address any issues whch are rare. It also easily integrates with our POS system which is a plus.

**What do you dislike about OpenTable for Restaurants?**

Unfortuantely open table can be quite expensive to compete in the marketplace. Cover charges when promoted are out of line what could be considered reasonable for a restaurant to absord from a cost point

**What problems is OpenTable for Restaurants solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open table solves the challegnes of managing space in our restaurant. The system allows our staff to focus on other tasks on a day to day basis. It also allws us to reach new guests
