Great premise, poor execution **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2022 **What do you like best about OpenOffice?** The premise of being able to have a full suite of programs that could replace Microsoft Office for free sounded great. The actual user experience, unfortunately not so great. **What do you dislike about OpenOffice?** User interface was not intuitive, word processing and spreadsheet functionality seemed limited (even compared to other free products). I gave up on the PowerPoint equivalent after 10 frustrating minutes. **Recommendations to others considering OpenOffice:** Worth giving a try, you can't beat the price. **What problems is OpenOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solved the problem of realizing why everyone is not giving up their paid subscriptions or licenses to paid "office suite" products to use OpenOffice. It's just not good enough. ### 2. It still has a large collections of add-ons, but unsure how well they are supported now. **What do you dislike about OpenOffice?** The collapse of it's user and volunteer community makes this not a viable product at this time. **What problems is OpenOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's price allowed my clients who needed something strong without having to buy MS Office an alternative for a fully-fledged office suite. ### 3. OpenOffice is good where LibreOffice do not fit(old computers). Its so difficult to use and there are so many fanctions missing in comparison with the Microsoft Suite . **Recommendations to others considering OpenOffice:** Its a good app if you cant afford Microsoft's Office. Otherwise we all know the king of Office products . **What problems is OpenOffice solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it to write my papers or reports for my work. Would reccomend it for someone who wants to have free apps. ### 5. Horrible experiences. Had the horrible experience that my files got corrupted and I couldn't retrieve the data anymore **What do you dislike about OpenOffice?** Files got corrupted.
