I like being able to visualize all the revisions and changes of a list, in case something needs to be corrected. I also enjoy the ability to create different lists, such as lists of suppliers or tools. What I like least is that to make changes within a BOM that has many assemblies, when you want to change a reference you have to keep changing and generating many Change Requests and Change Orders; it would be good if it were more automatic and you made a single Change order/Change request. I like OpenBOM's features like automatic part numbering and cataloging of different types of parts. The thumbnails allow for visual recognition without needing to open CAD, and customizable columns in catalogs add more information about parts. Currently our training member is having some difficulty in getting a response from the team -- but that could be because of the time differences. Possibly a 'first time walkthrough' style feature that you can re-enable -- or reminders for it if it already exists for the first week or two of using the software. Sometimes when I update a BOM, some of the new files do not export. I think it has to do with part numbers or part names possibly changing, but it is hard to tell what went wrong when that happens. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I appreciate the simplicity of using OpenBOM, especially for adding parts, modifying parts, and tracking changes. It is easy to add and remove properties or fields for each part, which was a problem with our previous tools that required a lot of customizations. OpenBOM seems to already include what we need. When you want to compare the different versions, the tool is not easy. It is better to export the two versions to Excel and then make a difference. During a comparison, it would be enough to display the current BOM and add red, green, or blue lines to indicate the modifications (delete, change, add) for example. I like the OpenBOM integration with SolidWorks. Whenever I make a part or an assembly, all the drawings are automatically uploaded as PDFs. There's also a snapshot feature that helps someone unfamiliar with the part visualize what it should look like. This makes the whole design process more streamlined.
