Overall, Drive does well with managing changes and revisions and has smart protections in place to keep files from getting corrupted/overwritten (only one user can open a CAD file at a time, rolling back files is pretty easy, etc.) The web browser platform for OB is clean and easy to navigate and is full of smart features once you get to know them The OB support team is very responsive, respectful, and eager to help out with any issues **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** Adding a user took lots of back and forth with the OB support team OB slows down Solidworks quite a bit when working with files stored on the OB Drive. It was incredibly helpful when trying to get a parts list for an assembly we were given to mass produce and keep an inventory of. I use that particular feature quite frequently now when trying to organize pricing for projects. **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** I have personally yet to see any downsides from OpenBOM. The only thing I could think of is possibly more encouragement to tap into the customer success resources. OpenBOM - Very promising! The CAD add in in Solidworks has made it very easy to check files in and out with team members, save version history, and updload BOMs to the online platform. I have also really liked the order process (needs a few improvements). The process of creating an order from a BOM, creating purchase orders, and then recieving/completing the order makes it very efficient. The inventory tracking through this process will be a very big benifit to our company as we continue to use this software. **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** While using OpenBOM over the past few months, I have found a few bugs that have been quite irritating. For example, as an administrator I am not able to delete an order (even if I am just trialing the system). I also found that when making a new category the system wont let me name certain titles because it thinks it already exists in OpenBOM (even though it doesn't). Overall having a bit more freedom, especially as the admin, would be nice. In the PO it does not create a total item cost, tax cost, and sum of all costs which is also not ideal (I thought this would be standard). This is required when sending PO's to vendors so any updates on this would be appreciated. Functionality for multiple orders would also be needed in the near future. The fact that OpenBOM does not correctly allocate inventory (for example: multiple orders with the same category item are out at the same time) makes the functionality of this much less useful. On another note, the OpenBOM team has been super helpful and responsive to give feedback and help. **What problems is OpenBOM solving and how is that benefiting you?** OpenBOM is helping us with CAD file and data management (drive). It is also helping us with REV control and the ordering process. As we continue to use it over the next while we are hoping to keep track of costing and inventory on it was well. The biggest help that OpenBOM has given me is to automate the creation of the parts list for my CAD models. Now, the bill of materials can be automatically created for every drawing I export from the CAD model in the same table-like format. I was amazed at how much time it saved me when the BOM just appeared automatically. I no longer have to keep track of every part and component in my design to manually include them in the BOM. OpenBOM also has other comprehensive features like nested BOMs, drag-and-drop, editing quantities, adding descriptions and so on. We can also order parts from suppliers much more easily than before. It easily integrates into common CAD software like SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360 etc. making it a valuable productivity tool in CAD. **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** There are some performance issues when utilising OpenBOM for very complex models with lots of parts. I am a novice with Fusion360, and OpenBOM filled my needs better and easier than what I could find built-in. **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** The learning curve was difficult when adding OpenBOM to Fusion360 after a design was complete. There were some dependencies I needed to add to the design for OpenBOM to work as intended. The tutorials helped, and I was able to make it work. Knowing those dependencies at the start of a drawing made creating parts lists for subsequent drawings easier. **What problems is OpenBOM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quick and easy parts list from which I could source products that fulfilled the needs of the project, and fit in the budget. It is easy to impenmete new design. We use it as a data base and a rough costing tool to anaylse designs. We use this platform daily. Customer support is also avalible when needed. **What do you dislike about OpenBOM?** It is sometime hard to keep track of production batches and purchase orders. We find platforms like PartsBox do a better job, especially with components (our only use). I can directly add the Bill of Materials (BOM) from Solidworks, and the associated pictures are carried over, making it easier for technicians to reference them.
