When I began blogging, Open Live Writer was quite refreshing and a great tool to use. It provides an offline mode editor which literally helps me in writing and editing the text and blog even if I don't have an active internet connection and good bandwidth. it provides me with post scheduling feature which helps me to schedule the blog for the future. Open live Writer makes it easy to connect to and create posts for a number of blogs right from one interface. While the UI is easy to use, it is a bit dated and has not been updated with a more modern look and feel. It does what it promises to do - a simple offline editor that lets you write blog posts for your blog and post them when you are again online. I love that you can add multiple blogs and save your posts as drafts. It easily allows you to add images and videos without any hassle, and I sometimes feel it is actually better than the wordpress block editors. It also allows you to customize the HTML code and see its changes in real time. It also displays how your posts will look with your blog theme, which is a very helpful feature. Your posts can also be categorized and tagged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Open Live Writer? The interface is old-style and rather unimpressive. Adding private blogs can be a chore as you'll have to first make your blogs public, then login to the software and go back to your blog and make it private. Your blog posts are saved in Open Live Writer's own format, so you cannot access it outside the software unless you copy paste the text. Also, the HTML text is unformatted and messy with no line breaks, so it can get difficult to edit the HTML source code directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Open Live Writer: Opt for Open Live Writer only if you need offline editing for your blog. It can also be great to have a platform to write blogposts without accidentally publishing them. You can simplify HTML codes by copying them onto editors like Atom and reformatting them. I have an unstable internet connection, so having an offline blog post editor was a blessing. Open Live Writer has served me well with its customizable features. I write my entries in a pleasant way, since the interface is friendly, pleasant and very easy to use. I keep my work organized, clean and without fear of publishing wrong information. The interface allows me to write and edit my articles in a much more pleasant way than with the blog platform and I do not have to write in Word to later copy in the blog, insert the image and publish, which was what I used to do. The Open Live Writer platform has a design very similar to Microsoft Word but with tools that allow me to insert images, videos, tables, etc., and work previewing it to later publish it from the same platform.
