What do you like best?

This software is easy to use and user friendly, so new hires can be trained on it quickly. It makes scheduling patients and recording all documentation and communication with patients a breeze. All patient info is in one place. It is very simple to switch between our general dentistry schedule and our ortho schedule. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?

I would highly highly recommend Open Dental! I have already got a few of my dental colleagues to switch over to Open Dental. I really believe in the software and what they have to offer. I really like how open the software is to customization and changes. It is easy to customize it to fit my specific practice. I love to keep organized, so Open Dental is perfect for that. I used to use Dentrix, and switched over to Open Dental a few years ago. I also opened another practice location and was able to start from scratch with Open Dental. I really like that all modules are in one screen...meaning that you click on one patient and everything in open dental changes to their information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Best Dental Software available. THis is due to not being linked to any commercial dental company that will keep you hostage to maintain service. We have maintained our annual service agreement but is not necessary. This product is ever changing and developers will even help write script to personalize what is needed in the office. What do you like best?

I like that if you are just seeing the software for the first time it’s easy to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software isn’t intergraded with NEA to send claims. There isn’t a way to mesh all office information to one data base (if patient went from one office to the other). Can’t see xrays through the software have to use something else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Love the easy to use set up. Easy to add new patient, scheduling, text msg system, and payment methods are great tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When it comes to running reports the actual “running report” is fairly easy. When it comes to exporting for example A/R reports you almost have to print them out because if you attempt to export in EXCL format is always transfers over as a compromised file and because a huge mess. Also when running insurance reports does the same thing, not only that you have to run the report day by day it does not give you a date range. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One of the greatest aspects of it is that you can basically make this a paperless software with the exception of the reports. We have our pt sign all documents in a kiosk, are able to communicate with patient with click of a button to send text. Over very easy to use when it comes to front desk and patient communication. What do you like best?

Open Dental is seemless when it comes to instantaneous appointment or account updates across a large network. We have never had issues with appointments dissapearing or getting double booked. There are many options for how you set up an appointment and how it looks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Their user interface could improve. Their reports are lacking and even writing your own is flawed as it is hard to integrate only the valuables that you need. Reports will often pull info in a way that isn't helpful or miss the point. The accounting set up is a mess for a large clinic. We see 20000 patients and need accurate reports and easier accounting. (For instance being able to search for a check number on the batch insurance page would be nice.) All of that being said, there are some functions (like staff scheduling) that we don't use and probably could but we don't know how well they work or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

When I was using this product, I liked how anyone could update the patient’s chart from any computer with the Software and it was available right away. Also liked that it stated where patient was at all times. I would update the status from the moment the patient walked in, to the exam room and when they left the office. I was also responsible for updating any procedures the patient had done and when they would come back for checkups or follow ups, the doctor could see what was already done and any notes from the previous visit(s). What do you dislike?

I did not like all the separent codes for billing. They had to be very specific or else the patient’s insurance would not be charged correctly. Sometimes find the procedure that was done was difficult to find because the code for it was could completely different. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Open Dental is super easy to install, and setting up integrations is automatic for the most part, with a few exceptions. The tech team there is extremely smart, and not a lot of hold time either. This software is cheaper than most of the others, and it's quality is higher. It's a no brainer. The best part, is it has a single sign-on feature for those on a Windows Domain, which makes logging in super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Open Dental is easy to use and has a great odontogram - you can move the teeth, draw cysts/ supernumeraries, and there is a clear "tx plan, other existing, completed, and referred" designation for all treatment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is no obvious ledger, so when you want to find when something is completed, you do have to scroll through all the notes and manually find when a procedure is completed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Regarding your comment about having to scroll through the notes to find completed procedures, it sounds like you might not be taking advantage of the "Show" tab in the chart module which allows you to customize your own chart views and/or narrow down the information you see. It's very intuitive with the color coding, very straight forward to use this software. This software is available in both Windows and Mac versions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sometimes the color coding could be enhanced. It sometimes feel old school. Sometimes the application crashes, would have to restart it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Seeing many providers on 1 screen, which is 15 chairs. Other than that, nothing, I hate it every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The clinical chart is too small. Patients name on the clinical chart is too small. All print is one color. Was not provided with a trainer or formal training plan upon conversion.
