"Easy to use and functional"
5/5
What do you like best about Onshape?

I really love using OnShape for 2D and 3D modeling. I like having the ability to use OnShape for more than just a CAD design software. The 2D sketch features give me the opportunity to create DXF and DWG drawings for 2D CAD programing. The 3D features in OnShape are very intuitive and and easy to learn if you're new to OnShape. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

Sometimes OnShape is too smart for its own good and it tries to guess which feature face you are trying to select. It is sometimes difficult to select 3D faces that are intricate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Onshape?

The ease of working together on a single document. It is simple to share work with outside vendors too. Product support has been great; I can email Kyle about any of my questions. Implementing new ideas is a breeze. The feature set keeps improving, especially from feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

The main downside is the speed of onshape. Since it is in the cloud, the performance is not as snappy as a local CAD system like solidworks. This is mainly seen in assemblies. The second downside is part of its feature: Documents. Documents can get bogged down very quickly with part studios and assemblies and derived parts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Onshape?

The cloud platform. Takes our IT headaches away and allows us to work outside of our IT departments abilities to support us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

Still missing a few features that would help us in drawings and parts but there are ways to get around them for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Onshape user review about good and need to improvement features."
5/5
What do you like best about Onshape?

Pros:

I like the Sketcher tools, part design mode very much user friendly.

And importing and editing features are nice.

In Context mode is very useful.

Seemless operation because of cloud platform.

customer support is good.

Regularly using for our product design activities.

Exporting option is very nice, since it is having able to export to all differnt formats to integrate with other softwares.

Very easy to adapt and implement and use in any organisation which is having very limited and not sophisticated Modelling and R&D Activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

Cons:

Assembly features need to be improved. Cannot rely on Mate connector for all operations.

Derived feature operation is not comfortable as in Creo's Inheritance and Merge.

Assembly mirror feature need to be added, instead of strugling with mate connetor mirroring.

Not very much confident to use for large assembly.

Error list and resolving tips are not there. Only showing failed features is not useful.

Cabling and wire harnessing is very difficult to use and not user friendly.Need clear menus, and specifications build into use.Does not seems to proficeint with Feature script.

Piping tools are there or not?

Drawing: Need auto dimensioning like creo.BOM Ballon creation needs to be user frienly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great CAD tool in the cloud!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Onshape?

It is online, always up to date (no version issues), completely back tracable and has built in PDM. I can use it on any platform (phone, tablet, laptop, PC) and it does not require a CAD computer. Easy to log in from practically anything with a browser. I never had it crash.

I like the features a lot. Expecially the custom features can be real time savers!

Version control is very good, branching a part into a different part to test a different idea is really easy and straight forward. Do you like it? Merge it into the main. Is it a dead end, close it off and continue with the main branch. GitHub like version management.

Surfacing is very good, but I still need to train myself even more in it. Good training video's and training tutorials available.

I have used onshape daily for about 2 years.

Easy to give other people read access, read write access, and be able to take it away when necessary. You OWN your data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

Large assemblies, for example STEP files, can take quite some time to import Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"That's how CAD data management has to be done"
5/5
What do you like best about Onshape?

Onshape's architecture specialises in creating dependencies and references between different components of an assembly. This makes a lot of sense, because in practice every assembly has parts that have to fit together. What is always complicated and time-consuming to plan with file-based systems can be done in no time at all with Onshape. As the data is consistently stored in the cloud single source of truth, the references are never lost.

Agile development with different variants and versions is child's play. A new version for an entire assembly, including drawings, is created in just a few seconds. Data is never lost and you can always go back to an old version. Onshape excels in the way it handles CAD data and can be seen as a prime example of the advantages of cloud applications, even outside of CAD applications (why doesn't MS Office work in the same way?). Did I already talk about updates? No need to worry about this anymore. All Onshape users are on the same page and data is always compatible for real time collaboration.

We users have adapted to deal with the problems of classic CAD data in the past. These days are over fortunately. Onshape impressively solves many of these pain points and shows a bright future for CAD work. This is just the beginning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Onshape?

Onshape now has a very good range of functions. However, certain detailed functions still lack the functionality required to keep up with the long-standing leaders in the CAD industry. However, with the many automatic updates, Onshape is quickly catching up and is also suitable for professional use in many areas of product development.

For many external partners who are not familiar with Onshape, online collaboration is still unfamiliar and they ask if I can send the data as an STP file by e-mail. This is not Onshape's fault, but it does take some patience and persuasion to realise the full potential of the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
