Once that set-up was complete the regular monthly payroll is a breeze, and far simpler to understand, than the experience I had with a large national brand name some years ago. **What do you dislike about OnPay?** I think the website could be a little more intuitive. It might seem more intuitive if I had more employees and spent more time using OnPay, but my business consists of myself and two employees so I do not spend that much time on OnPay (which is, I guess, a good thing!). **What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** I would not have switched from using contractors to employees without OnPay's help. The people that I wanted to hire preferred to be employees so I may not have been able to hire them as contractors. ### 4. Service has been excellent - fast response, patience with a newbie, attentive background support. **What do you dislike about OnPay?** So far, so good. In a perfect world (one that does not exist with QBO), General Journal entries would probably be replaced with a subsidiary journal devoted to payroll. However, OnPay's method is easy to see and understand, even though QuickBooks does everything with journal entries behind the scenes, and OnPay's journal entries are mixed in with all the others. **What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll for a very small staff (1), including tax reporting and deposits. As the Financial Officer, I do all the bookkeeping. and OnPay does all the Payroll-related functions accurately without me having to do anything more than monitoring the results. ### 8. The product itself is the best part. I am amazed at how easy the software is to use after migrating away from QuickBooks Enterprise payroll. The interface is well designed and simple for anyone to pick up and run with. I'm impressed with the number of features available for the price I'm paying. It is an entire employee management portal. I have not tested out the offer letters or onboarding yet so I cannot say much there. This product is working very well for 20 employees. They all can manage their information, pay stubs, and time off on the site. The second best part is the support provided. Every question I've had has been answered within 30 minutes (typically much less when you call). They are very good about helping you get started. It was nice to receive a phone call about 30 minutes after I began the trial. OnPay filing payroll taxes for us will be a nice benefit. Their system made it obvious to us that we were calculating a tax incorrectly in QuickBooks and it will save us for the next filing! I signed up for and integrated When I Work to easily pull in timesheets. This makes a huge difference and I highly recommend it! No more manually typing in hours between two disconnected systems. **What do you dislike about OnPay?** It would be nice to have a mobile app, but the mobile website works well enough that it is not needed. I've only minimally worked with the HR side of the software so far, but it does seem a little limited in the customization of forms and information we can keep on employee records. A few minor things that I would like to see are PTO forecasting, standard company deduction rates, and slightly better control over wage types for accounting reporting purposes. **Recommendations to others considering OnPay:** Ease of use and excellent support are the two features that really set OnPay apart. **What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am solving the clunkiness, risk (desktop install), and high cost of QuickBooks Enterprise. For a small business, we were oversold on needing the enterprise version of that software. Payroll is much quicker and easier to administer. All employee documentation will be in one place. The integrations with Xero and When I Work are going to simplify workflows. ### 10. We recently added Simple IRA accounts for corporate matching - we needed some customer service to confirm we were proceeding correctly. They answered our questions easily and walked us through confidently. Took 15 minutes. We are happy to be in control more and to have increased our savings by automating this system - and by having a new CPA! I kept getting "Urgent" emails suggesting that my tax info was not entered and that it wouldn't allow proper tax withholdings, but I called customer service and they said it must just be a glitch because it looks fine. **What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** Largely OnPay is solving the problem of having my first employee as a full time worker (no longer 1099) and withholding the appropriate taxes for him as he lives and works remotely out of state. ### 14. It took me several logins to complete, but part of that was due to waiting on the state revenue dept. to issue documents to me. Running payroll takes me less than 15 minutes and it is a pleasure. It integrates with Deputy, which we use for timesheet management so we avoid data entry or even needing to proactively "export" anything from Deputy (as we had to with our prior payroll provider). Whenever we've had an issue or question support has been quick to respond and the representatives have been knowledgeable. Pricing is reasonable. Overall a pleasure to use and I would recommend it to other small business owners who don't have a lot of time to spend on payroll. **What do you dislike about OnPay?** While the interface is clean and easy to look at, some information can be difficult to find and/or be in odd places, requiring us to ask support where to find it. However, neither integration works leaving me with few things I can say I like about OnPay. **What do you dislike about OnPay?** Beside the integrations not working, the problem with OnPay is the constant payrolls errors, re-runs, fines, and penalties they have cost my company. In 2021 my company paid about 10x the cost in fines due to their constant errors and inaccurate information than we paid OnPay in payroll fees. This organization is a disaster and I cannot recommend enough that you avoid them. **What problems is OnPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** As stated previously, my firm has faced significant fines and penalties from multiple states due to payroll processing errors caused by OnPay. The left dashboard panel (blue) is not reactive, which makes navigation on the mobile view more difficult. This is not a problem when using desktop view.
