Onboarding required quite an investment of time and resources, but we're very grateful that we worked with Amy Barker who was very knowledgeable and guided us through the entire process. We also use it to import data from other campaigns like direct mail, telemarketing, and newsletter mailings. There are things you can accomplish by using the global import features in RE7 but IOM is pretty smart in terms of identifying duplicates and that's a great feature that allows us to confidently massive data imports. The resource is straightforward to understand in terms of building-out mapping to meet the needs of your particular instance. A friendly team of support rapidly resolves any issues that may arise. Lack of linked-help articles is a challenge as a non-profit may not have the budget to have a developer on-site. So a novice to intermediate data manager cannot resolve the matter in-house (unless they have extensive knowledge). What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you? The main problem we have been able to address is the matter of duplicate data. The origin of our connection to Omatic Software started with a mistrust of our CRM data. The fundraising platform we used had a direct API connection to Salesforce; however, there were no measures within this connection that relieved the probability of duplicate entries. So, in essence, donors controlled our database. To regain control, we implemented Omatic Software and put rules that would reference our CRM for pre-existing data points before forwarding new records. Allows mass quantities of relational data to be imported at the same time and will do things such as renew a membership, link records, and identify existing duplicate records. Building ImportOmatic profiles can be tricky and there is a lot to learn. The knowlegebase articles on the website are sometimes difficult to navigate. Unless you know the exact terminology to use in the search function, you may not get results. The help articles tend to be a high-level introduction without going into complex nitty gritty, which is often what you need the help with. You can send copies of the profile and data files to get help but that requires a waiting turnaround time. One caveat about MergeOmatic is that it is query-based and you cannot ask it to merge just two specific records. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you? Omatic (ImportOmatic) was initially selected by our non-profit organization to handle daily imports of web transactions into our CRM. We had an expert at Omatic create the import profiles which were quite complex, but from that I was able to learn from it to create my own profiles for other tasks. The mapping is fairly intuitive and you can create dictionaries to translate non-uniform data, e.g., change US to USA. You can choose if you want to interact with each record during the import process which is useful for things such as address processing, or use it just to do a quick data dump. It also allows you to create new or append to existing data. I have found ImportOmatic handy for other things, especially mass data cleanup projects which can by done by exporting the data into Excel, cleaning it up, and then reimporting it to the database. Another Omatic tool that we use is MergeOmatic to perform mass clean ups of old duplicate records. It is highly efficient in identifying possible duplicates based on varying criteria, and allows side-by-side record comparison. Omatic is much more expansive as far as tools, settings, and options compared to the built-in offerings of the CRM software which can be restrictive and limiting. Omatic makes is super easy to importing contacts and setting up automation to do so is just the coolest. I love that we can now capture and re-engage with visitors on the same day of their visit! There is also sometimes concern that contacts are mis-matched with existing contacts. Lastly, the interface feels "bare bones" in some areas, which can hamper how efficiently I make changes to formulas (I sometimes have to go forward or back in the formula steps to see important information). We can segment in Mailchimp in ways that would probably take 10x the amount of time to do manually as long as they do by using Omatic. We use importomatic for all our large data imports as well as for smaller imports but it always goes smoothly. I am able to batch in large amounts of data without going through Raiser's Edge directly or having to upload a premade list or worse, have to update each individual constituent manually. The dictionaries sometimes do not match up with will give me a lot of errors if I do not run on validation mode to catch them. Sometimes I feel like setting up a new profile could be more user firendly in a sense that they give a more tools to walk you through it, like a video or tutorial. I feel that trainings or refreshers need to be more available to the users outside of the frequently asked questions. What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you? The imports go in so much faster and import-o-matic enables me to move from task to task in a timely manner. As I said, we use Imort-OMATIC on a weekly basis for a data push and it is a way of making sure our data is up to date as well as using it on a quaterly basis for large imports (roughly 2000 constituants) and i feel that without Import O MATIC i would not be able to do this task. What do you dislike about Omatic Software? There are so many features and settings, initial setup of an import profile can be confusing, and there is potential for things to go wrong if you don't do it right. For example its clever matching can update an existing custom field without an import ID, therefore if you don't set up the profile to add a new custom field each time you can end up overwriting existing data by accident. There is more capability but if you are setting up a new import profile from scratch you need to assign the time to get it done correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Omatic Software solving and how is that benefiting you? We use ImportOmatic to perform a host of regular, standardised import tasks. These include adding gifts and donors from our crowdfunding platform and adding volunteers. The software's abilities to enable a file to be imported without manipulating the data has empowered our administrative staff to take responsibility for many data import duties that would previously relied on a database admin to perform. MergOmatic provides a much better deduplication tool than those included with either RENXT or RE7. We use it to keep on top of duplicates added as a result of data into our database from multiple sources, and sometimes incomplete at the time the records are first created. ImportOmatic allows us to import data into Raiser's Edge from many different sources. The duplicate matching algorithms help keep duplicates out of our database. I like that I can set up a profile and everything is ready to go when it's time to import the data. Overall, this tool gives us the flexibility we need to import our data. The onboarding process was very lengthy. I really wanted to just get trained and get started, but there were a series of steps (very spread out) that had to be done first.
