In the past, I have been concern about the difficulty of linking interviews across forms (e.g., using data from one form to prepopulate another). But I recently see that ODK has added a new feature that has addressed this. I think that's a great addition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ODK is a clear-choice when seeking a highly functional and organized platform for launching and managing several large-scale surveys in an offline format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ODK is not always capable of handling non-standard language inputs, and can occassionally malfunction in restricted national environments / locations with poor connectivity and outdated hardware. The highlights for us have been 3 things:

-The ability to collect data in a centralized and non-duplicated manner.

-Collect data in areas that do not have an internet connection.

There is much to like about ODK, but probably the most important aspect is that delivers completely on what it promises. ODK is an integrated data collection tool, which covers all its aspects; from the creation of the data collection instruments, to the collection of the data by the interviewers and the aggregation of the data in the server. All of these elements work effectively and in a very user-friendly manner. Unlike other solutions, I never felt that my efforts or data could be compromised, and I have never experienced a single issue which I could not resolve in a very short time.

I was particularly impressed by how easy is linking the tablets to the server and how well ODK handles different versions of the forms, even when the data collection is ongoing.

On top of that, the support offered by ODK is exceptional, always responsive, and effective in solving doubts and issues.

In my opinion, the greatest flaw of ODK is the need for an Android device to truly preview the forms being developed for data collection. While it is possible to create the forms without such device, it is important having access to one to learn what interviewers will see during the interviews. The preview tool in ODK Central is sub-optimal, as presents it presents the question in a very different way than in tablet running ODK Collect.

There is also room for improvement in how roster or repeat question are handled. That is, when the same follow-up questions are asked about the options selected in a previous question. Questions need to be repeated in the form rather than being generated automatically, as it would be fitting.

The visual aspect of ODK Collect's interface is serviceable but it could be improved.

Form building in ODK would benefit from a repository of examples, which users can access directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ODK provide and end to end solution with intuitive interfaces both mobile and web, while performing perfectly. The cloud offer is cheap compared to the time and effort it saves, and the confidence that goes with. Also the support is great and fast, plus that it's provided by the original creators of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are still some features that we need in special cases, for ex. Opening enketo forms in read-only mode, or more complex users and roles management, but most of these features are rather work in progress or not depending directly on ODK. Also, I would like to have a root or super admin user that can revoke or be the only one to give admin roles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Simple to set up, seamless functionality in the field, and the support was top notch. When I had trouble implementing an idea, support service offered plenty of suggestions and seemed inclined, when necessary, to take ideas to their product development team. No complaints. ODK offers a simple yet robust interface for online/offline data collection, which works on practically every device - new/old without the dependency on a good fast internet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use - for both the end user and administrator, This is very important for me as i have users all over the world where English is not the primary language - The language options available are fantastic and the ability to use it worldwide is fantastic for me

The only issues I've had so far with ODK are errors when I go into the database to fix some errors entered by our users. After discussions with Yaw, we have come up with a potential solution which I will be trialing over the next month, so to be honest, I don't know what ODK can do better.
