The central platform is user-friendly and makes it easy to check data as it comes in through their review features. The customer and tech support is very responsive and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ODK has everything we're looking for"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

First of all, documentation is very extensive. The community is very engaged and ODK had all the features we were looking for, and had features we never thought we needed. The way they've set up projects, users, forms, access control all makes sense. Offline features work well. Publishing forms was easy. It's a very cost-effective solution and being open source helps us extend the tool as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

I wish there was a way for us to theme ODK central or maybe make it so that developers can make a theme available on a marketplace and monetize on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ODK USAGE REVIEW"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

It has helped us collect data and use them for different research. Last time I was just installing for the institution to use it. The briefcase feature for data export and import is useful.

Also, the support is superb and I like how the team is responding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

There is no quick way to create a form in ODK UI, also no simple visualization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ODK significantly improved our data collection"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

ODK has significantly improved our data collection, enabling us to quickly create functional forms in the shortest time possible and greatly reducing tool development and deployment time. I would not only recommend it to others but also plan to use it in future projects myself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

However, the only drawback I've encountered is that it lacks the capability to automate custom processes/workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great experience"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

We have been using ODK to collect data on lead exposure and screening risk factors for over 2,000 children across Asia. These data have played a key role in understanding the burden of childhood lead exposure and informing government decisions. The use of ODK has allowed better data quality, timely feedback to field teams, and streamlined data analysis, which has been critical in steering effective interventions. We highly recommend ODK for data collection needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

Maybe challenging for someone who is new to XLS form design but there are many learning materials out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best data collection tool for field work"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

I've been using ODK intensively for about 5 years now (almost on a daily basis) and most of my projects relies on it. It's ease to use and implement on the field, very flexibe, and has strong form logic and data validation while creating surveys. Furthermore the ODK Collect app is incredibly reliable even in very poor connectivity scenarios. The ODK Central ads a huge layer of data security and auditing and provides data sharing with almost everything, from ODATA implementantion out of the box to connectors for Python and R. There is also a vibrant user community that helps a lot for support and inspiration and the Insiders group which brings active members closer to developers team. Absolutely recomended! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

I don't actually dislike the way it works now, but the interface for showing submitted data on ODK Central could be improved to ease of finding specific submissions, specially in thousands of submissions scenarios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best tool for mobile survey data collection"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

ODK is used by many humanitarian agencies including the one I work for, so clearly has a great user experience.

I will comment from the perspective of a *software developer*, as I build tools that leverage ODK underneath:

- I never have to worry about ODK as part of my technology stack. It is always reliable and available when needed.

- The design has been well thought out for easy interfacing with other tools.

- The developments are ongoing & ODK continues to innovate new ideas to enhance user experience.

- The dev team is very approchable and receptive to user feedback.

- Their code is fully open-source and development practices transparent.

Overall I wouldn't consider switching to other tools, as ODK is clearly the front runner in this space.

Keep up the good work! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

There is a bit of fragmentation in the ecosystem, with other tools doing very similar things, making life more difficult as a software developer having to integrate multiple tools. ODK is better in almost every aspect, so it would be great if users could converge around one tool! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ODK is a blast !"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

ODK is accessible and user-friendly at all levels, including for project managers like myself, field teams, and analysts. Its simplicity makes it one of the most robust software solutions for data collection. The recently released entities function, continuous improvements, clear documentation, and active community support enable the design of strong workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

There is little I dislike about ODK. However, working with traceability and first-mile data can be challenging, as capturing reality accurately is not always easy. ODK is not designed for end-to-end commodity traceability management, but when used for its intended purposes—such as mapping and household registration—and linked to other systems, it performs exceptionally well. Additionally, paper remains a preferred method for some, which can make behavior change and adoption frustrating. That said, working with ODK is always a pleasure. "ODK for crop mapping"
4.5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

There were several reasons we chose ODK as our data collection platform for our crop mapping in Mali. It was free for our users, the forms were customizable, and ODK Central ended up being a great place to store and manage our data. The support by Yaw was awesome as well. Both in getting set up, and responding to any issues very quickly. We would use ODK again in the future without hesitation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

The Excel forms were a little tricky at first, but after a few tries and some searching of the forums, I was able to resolve my issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Use ODK for your investigation projects"
5/5
What do you like best about ODK?

It is easy to use in both the app and on the web. When I have a question and need help, I always get support from ODK. They are very nice and open to any case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ODK?

I think if ODK could edit questionnaires using an IDE instead of XLSForm, it would be the best tool for surveys Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
