It is very fast to find a part number of an electronic component, and all the relevant information: stock in distributors, datasheet, price... Also, it can be used together with Altium Designer, to automatically check the availability an priced of a bill of materials of an electronic product. There is nothing I dislike, I would add extra functionalities maybe, like standard fields to compare similar components and use it to find alternative part numbers when there is an obsolete one. One thing I do not like is that the sites that are listed on Octopart are sometimes not legitimate.
