I can use multiple cameras, deliver video and web content, do top-tier chromakey, and more. I constantly get comments about how the quality of my online meetings is the best they've ever seen. I've created many special effects people aren't used to seeing on a zoom call, like intros and outros, overlays, desk cam view so people can see me writing on paper, etc. I can also play videos with much higher quality that screensharing through zoom and deliver powerpoint presentations better, too. I have more control of the audio as well. I can adjust the sound to give my voice that 'radio announcer' tone. In fact, I've been asked more than one time if I ever do voiceovers or if I've done radio work. **What do you dislike about OBS Studio?** The complexity can be overwhelming. There are so many things you can do with this software; it has a big learning curve. Using it is not for the faint of heart; you are delving into professional production territory. You need to be willing to open multiple pieces of software to do an online meeting properly. I mean, who doesn't like free, right? It has the features of those premium live broadcasting software that are pretty expensive. You can multi-stream too! But it requires a strong laptop CPU and GPU. Another is you can customize your overlay and make your layout. I integrate it with zoom when we guess to present a beautiful broadcast with all the design and everything that we want to show on the screen. I also love that there are so many free plugins that you can use to stream on Facebook, Youtube, Twitch, etc. I love to use the live commenter where you can see the live comments scrolling on the screen. There are more things that OBS can offer you. I didn't have enough time to explore its overall since some of the features are not helpful to me personally or at work. Another feature that I love in OBS is you can import/export the templates of the scenes and sources you made. You need to redirect the directory to the new laptop/computer that will receive the template copy. You can also stream and record at the same time! That is so amazing since it will reduce your workload on the technical side. **What do you dislike about OBS Studio?** I don't like the fact that OBS doesn't support multi-user. I hope it does, but I think it is not part of their system model. That is the only thing I wish OBS would have in the future since there are like me who work from home, and I need to share the OBS screen with my colleagues during a Livestream since I primarily handle the technical side and they are hosting the event. **Recommendations to others considering OBS Studio:** If you are looking for a FREE Live streaming platform for Youtube, Facebook, Twitch, etc.? You can opt for OBS Studio! It is a powerful and flexible tool, but you will need to consider if your computer can handle the system requirements of it, but if it does, then you are good to go! **What problems is OBS Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Providing Livestream events for our audience at work is one of the primary problems with OBS. Livestreaming platforms are expensive, and OBS gives a free alternative solution for that. The only downside is you need knowledge of how things are operated. It is pretty harder compare to those Livestream platforms that require subscriptions. But there are plenty of Youtube video tutorials out there where you can learn, so it is not a problem. The initial learning curve to create a broadcast can be very small, and you're on the air in no time. However, there's still a lot to it to have highly advanced broadcasts with graphics, multiple video and audio inputs, different scenes, transitions, stingers, EVERYTHING. **What do you dislike about OBS Studio?** It's not a super aesthetic interface, and the advanced features can be difficult to learn/find in the software. However, it's not that big of a deal, OBS's features greatly surpass its not-so-good looks. **Recommendations to others considering OBS Studio:** As I said, this is THE software that you should use for your broadcast needs. It's free and yet super advanced; can be used to create a simple broadcast in no time but has the muscle to handle a big production with lots of graphics, transitions, inputs and more. Lots of plugins and personalization. Shortcuts. There's lots of documentation and tutorials to learn how to use OBS and become a pro at it so there's no reason not to create amazing things. My clients ask me to do broadcasts into their FB pages and the native FB producer is not that advanced, so I use OBS to send a professional, elaborate and dynamic stream into FB live producer. I can screen capture my client's zoom webinars and restream them into their social profiles with ease using OBS and Streamyard (another app that I LOVE) ### 19. There is a massive community of users that are always willing to help educate, troubleshoot, and promote the app. Anything you can't do "out of the box" surely has a plug-in developed already to further extend the functionality. **What do you dislike about OBS Studio?** Because it's an open platform, this can produce bugs. There's no real vetting of plug-ins. The biggest benefit I have found is that I can record individual application windows, the entire screen, or multiple screens with ease. After having streamed over 500+ hours of content, I can clearly say, it truly is one of a kind, feature-packed broadcasting software. From adding different layers to transitions to having more than one video source (I've used up to 8 sources with no problem), overlays and access to advanced widgets, you wouldn't believe that the software is actually free. **What do you dislike about OBS Studio?** Some features are hidden under long menus. If you were to start using the software without a manual, it does take a bit of time to learn your way around it. Also, the fact that it retains the settings while you don't have to save anything, is both relieving and scary at the same time. **Recommendations to others considering OBS Studio:** If you've worked on a different platform before or if you're new to the world of broadcasting, please do not hesitate to try out OBS. Many streamers who broadcast live use this software, as it has quite advanced options. Without further ado, Open Broadcaster Software currently has no alternative, due to its functionalities.
