The timeline feature really helps us as a business to engage with our colleagues and make an impact. It builds relationships and keeps us all connected. We especially love the reactions and gifs. We love the flexibility it gives to adapt it to our brand and use the different tiles, buttons and features which also allows us to integrate with other internal software such as Perkplace. It can be clunky to use, especially mobile view and setting permissions. One of the biggest issues we have is not being able to search for content on the timeline, we get many complaints in our organisation about this, and important content often gets buried/lost. The notifications aren't clear, and get lost. If someone's tagged you in a post, you should get an email, have clearer notifications. If you go on someone's profile, you also can't see what they have posted. We struggle as admins because we can't view what others can view, so it's easy to miss things. It's not always intuitive for others to use who have little experience, it can appear complicated. Videos and Gifs can also be difficult to upload, especially on the timeline. Pictures are also not responsive, and there is little guidance on what sizes things need to be to adapt to different screen sizes. Overall, I think the site could be simplified, especially in the backend. We really appreciate the support we have received from Shannon Frost - she's been amazing! Our only complaint would be we have had so many customer support contacts that we often have to repeat ourselves and feels like our issues are not always logged for the next person to pick up. I use Oak Engage at Burger King UK as our central hub for information and communications, housing all of our operational documents and policies, and enabling employee communications and social interaction. I appreciate how it helps with connecting to our frontline workers who are not sitting at computers and how it translates content for our employees speaking different languages. I find it improves our business processes and drives efficiency, providing easy access to the right information and support. I think the platform works really well on both desktop and mobile, and it is easy to build and manage, allowing freedom over the look and feel of our intranet to really bring our brand to life. I like the useful features within the platform for managing documents and policies, and it provides a good social space. I'm pleased with how Oak allows setting review or expiration dates on documents and policies, making content management easier. The business process function is helpful for collecting accurate data from employees and putting it into spreadsheets. The Oak team is great to work with, offering support during setup with training and handling technical tasks, which made the initial setup mostly straightforward. There are a few things that could be improved such as automated and customized emails to employees on their birthdays and work anniversaries, onboarding email workflows, and being able to target groups of users built on some custom rules such as job title or location (and a mix of these together). The product is continually evolving, and feedback is genuinely taken on board. Support from the team is excellent: they respond quickly to queries, are happy to jump on a call whenever needed, and consistently offer really useful advice. The AI intranet design tool has been particularly helpful for developing pages. The interface is easy to use, so we only need to provide minimal training to colleagues, who are then able to build and update their pages and areas with ease. For example, it would be really helpful to be able to “impersonate” a user, especially since we have different intranet areas for different parts of the business. I like the ease of access that Oak Engage provides, and the fact that even our oldest members can find our current information without any issues. I appreciate that the site is getting constant upgrades. I also see potential value in adding videos and utilizing the AI Aria search feature. Videos would let me share solutions more efficiently, saving me time and helping older team members who might struggle with text-heavy instructions. Everyone we come into contact with at Oak Engage is supportive and helpful, and they always provide the information we need to get the most out of the platform. Over the last couple of years, we’ve been able to use it to bring both holidays and expenses into the modern world, rather than relying on Excel trackers and manual submissions. This isn’t specific to Oak Engage—it’s more on our side—but uploading data is a slow, clunky process for us. That said, I think it’s largely down to how much more we’re using the platform now and how much information we need to feed into it. We’ve moved holiday tracking from Excel trackers to colleague self-serve with manager approval, which also gives us quick, clear reporting. We’ve also moved expenses onto the system, so we now have a clear audit trail and colleagues can see when their claims are approved or rejected, and why. It's really intuitive, and even though it took me a bit of time to get used to it, once I did, it's been really helpful. From a collaborative point of view, the team is always on hand to help, and we are able to work very collaboratively together. The support we receive is really useful, especially for the somewhat random questions we send. We also use the platform for a lot of different things, not just communication, which adds to its value.
