**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

It contains tons of technical books. They recently added audible books, which are great while on the go. I do not use all the options they provide but one can really see they put lots of effort to make their service useful. Definitely one of the best perks of the company I'm working for.

It is great for technical topics and for courses related to improving your technical expertise but it feels like working (because you are) It lacks the fun touch of other platforms like Udemy or Coursera, you learn, but it feels too business-oriented.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

The video series is a better learning source than the videos in my opinion.

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I achieved my CCNA thanks to O'Reilly and I'm planning to get the CCNP before this July mainly studying only content from this platform.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

I recommend it to others who are looking to learn new skills or wanting to do any technology certification as it is really helping with the the huge repository of books and Tutorial videos it has.

  ### 40. Great tool for learning new concepts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Uemura R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2020

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

We all have gaps in knowledge that need to fill to do our job effectively, with Oreilly I can easily find a book or a video where it is explained what I need to know 75% of the time so I only bother my coworkers when it is really needed and I don't get the reputation of being the one who doesn't try before asking for help.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

The content available is very good, but the other 25% is the most important part for anything outside of the intermediate level it isn't a great tool, for example, it can help you to understand python and how to program as there are concepts that don't change much but sometimes the books related to certifications are outdated and the concepts replaced with newer ones so the content isn't valid anymore and new books aren't added quickly enough.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

If you are searching for an specific content you can first verify that is available before getting a subscription

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had a gap in my knowledge in esxi virtualization that I needed to know for a project and found really great explanations on what I needed to do

  ### 41. Great Learning Experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Austin S. | Global Operations Reporting Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

I was able to expose myself to many different areas of data and IT technology with one subscription and it gave me an enormous amount of content to explore and discover. I couldn't be happier with the content either - it can be technical at times, but it is learning the hard things that have made a difference.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

Can be a bit pricey, but if you use it to the maximum potential then it is totally worth it. They are always adding new content, but sometimes new content in your subject can take some time.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

O' Reilly is worth every bit that you pay for it - after realizing that my wishlist of books was mostly included on the site, it was a no-brainer that it would be better to use the platform than to learn from each book. You also get paths that guide you along with the correct subject matter, so that you are not lost in a cloud of over information, but are directed in the best way to really gain insight into what you want to do in numerous technical fields

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning data analytics paths and extensive code learning

Use it as much as possible :)

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was mainly looking at programming books and materials

  ### 45. e-tutorial for office staff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

UI can be improved as the current GUI is not user friendly

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

for online guidance and self-study, this app is recommended to all

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 46. Head First books are the best!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allie (Allison) E. | Marketing Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

By far my favorite part of the O'Reilly app are the Head First books. If you are someone who is hands on and has to DO something in order to learn it, you should definitely check these books out. The are fun and interactive, almost like an activity book as opposed to a text book. Another great part about using O'Reilly is that it gives you a free 10-day trial (no credit card required) with full access, which gives you a chance to really take a look around the site and see if it's the type of thing you're looking for.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

The one thing I don't really like is how the menu is set up on the site. They don't have a section for "media type" in the pull-down menu (such as book, video, webinar, etc.) and most of the time that is the way I want to browse. They have some categories like this on the main homepage but it would be a lot better to have it on the main menu where it's always accessible. Also, it is a little on the pricier side compared to similar apps.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

The is a great tool for companies or individuals who are looking to learn about web-based apps and marketing skills. Since there is a free 10-day trial, there is no risk in at least checking it out and possible getting a few lessons for free even if you decide not to keep it. I strongly recommend trying out a Head First book, especially if you only have time to look at 1 or 2 items. They are great for people who learn "hands on" or by "doing".

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problems we are solving with O'Reilly is having the ability to learn new apps and skills at our finger tips, with easy to follow resources. Because there are a variety of different media types, many different users can all find a source that works best for them, depending on the way you learn - which is what makes it a great tool for a company.

  ### 47. Keys to a new view and insight for a company to grow and individual to excel

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2019

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

I really like the easy access and quality of choices to live online live training courses, books & videos on their sites. Also, I'm not very tech savvy so navigation is easy And it's a great way to stay up to date with the constant changes in business and great tool to build team skills. I also really like how it's live, better then just reading about it and you and your team get to engage in it.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

Smaller companies don't really know about this option for another type of useful tool. I actually search for programs to help us grow.

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Us being a smaller company we need to focus on communication and tactics to build on the skills we have learned to implement daily in order to be a successful company.

  ### 48. A perfect resourceful hub

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumant L. | Tech Blogger, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

I like the video training and other learning materials that they have maintained. Those resources are hardly found anywhere and they have a bunch of e-books, videos, and other learning materials.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

Today, when we have customized features for startups, so I think they should come out some really startup-centric resources where can learn from forming a good startup to its earning stage.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

Talking about this software I think it has vast resources that can help you to develop on a personal level as well from the angle of your current business. The videos, ebooks that they have are really in-depth, well-researched and to the point. For this reason, I refer their e-books regularly and videos too. If you want to start I recommend to start with a trial initially, understand their features and then think of longer memberships. One more thing I would like to add here is that don't learn the things in hurry, ultimately you will waste your time but go step by step this way you will be able to keep track of your progress and you will also at later stage that this was something missing from your daily learnings. The best way to grow here is to start with individual plan because first hands on experience is very important.

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The O'Reilly Media has published so many e-books on technical and other areas too. I have cleared many concepts referring to these resources.

  ### 49. Oreilly is awesome it has books, online videos, live sessions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2018

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

It has live sessions with the experts in different topics like devops, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and many more technical session. It has online books , videos on different topics which is good reference whenever we want to go through it. It has huge collection of learning stuff. Time savings as sitting at home we can browse book, video and attend the live session.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

Only thing is the live session that we dont enroll are not available in video session for our reference( only who attends the live session get the recordings)

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

If u like to updated urself in the new trends , oreilly media is good place to learn through online book, video and online videos.

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its helps in growing in this rapid changes in IT by providing online books, videos and live session. It keeps us updated with the latest technology trends by providing books, videos and live sessions.

  ### 50. Decent educational site. The 'USA Today' of training and learning sites.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about O'Reilly?**

Easy place to get started on e-learning. But I don't view O'Reilly as a specialist, I see them more as a generalist. Good place to start one's learning of whatever skills learning you wish to enhance, but you'll need an expertise place elsewhere to pin down specifics.

**What do you dislike about O'Reilly?**

Conferences. They put on various conferences that have gradually gone downhill in past years visits.

**Recommendations to others considering O'Reilly:**

Getting started, this is a great place to begin. To reiterate however, I'd continue my learning elsewhere as I consider this to be a generalist learning site.

**What problems is O'Reilly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you're wanting to get a foothold into something, O'Reilly excels at the initial first step.
