It is one of those programs I can't work without. It's very simple to use and has no fiddly setup — just download, install, and you're away. It's implemented so nicely. I use it nearly daily for a variety of tasks: editing config files, scripting (largely XML, HTML, and JSON), file version comparison, and even for jotting down notes or sketching out quick ideas. Contacting Customer Support was miles away as its so simple to use. One feature I greatly like is how keyboard-friendly it is. Shortcuts such as Ctrl+H for find and replace, or Ctrl+Shift+L to select all occurrences of a word, really accelerate the process. Block selection with Alt + mouse drag is a savior when you wish to edit several lines simultaneously — particularly helpful when you're updating similar code snippets or carrying out column editing. Syntax highlighting for several languages is perfect, and code folding keeps big files organized. The search across files function is a huge win, too — I frequently use it to discover values or parameters throughout directories of logs or configs. Plugins only make it stronger. I utilize: 1. Compare Plugin to compare file differences side by side 2. NppFTP to FTP to remote servers and edit files on them 3. AutoSave to ensure I don't lose anything 4. And JSON Viewer to format API responses neatly And it has no problem with big files either — I've loaded multi-MB logs without delay, which even some full IDEs can't handle. Integration-wise, it integrates perfectly with Git and external tools. I frequently make it the default editor for commit messages or ad-hoc script fixes. I haven't required official customer service because the community is so active. Whenever I've had a problem, there's usually a Stack Overflow thread or plugin/forum post that answers it. As a free tool, Notepad++ vastly exceeds expectations. It's tiny, quick, and packed with truly useful features. Forget waiting around for some clunky IDE to load. Notepad++? Double-click, boom, I’m in. And dealing with those monster-sized log files? Absolute lifesaver. I’ve tossed 300MB files at it, just to see if it would freak out. Nope. It just chugs along, while other editors wave the white flag and freeze or crash. That alone has saved me so much frustration. What problems is Notepad++ solving and how is that benefiting you? I can easily write and keep my notes. Main feature I like the most is that many times I forgot to save the notes, still it keeps those files and I can quickly open old files and get the notes.
