Not just me—many regular Notepad++ users share the same complaint: the updates and patches are released too frequently. I don’t like it when I’m working on an important document or in the middle of coding and an update pop-up suddenly appears. It’s really annoying and breaks my focus. Anyone who wants to code without dealing with fancy editor settings will naturally prefer Notepad++. It is an open-source program under the GNU license, and it can support multiple file formats. We did not save the already open file and close it. Next time, the same file remains open in the editor. 2. The UI and UX are very light. The pricing is not an issue because it is open source, and the ROI is very high 3. It has a plugins admin where you can search for the plugins and install 4. We got a help file during the onboarding process during installation. 5. AI features are not inbuilt by default, but we can integrate through 3rd party plugins like NppOpenAI, which enables ChatGPT integration for code generation, summarization, and refactoring using OpenAI keys. Sr tech support Enterprise (\> 1000 emp.) 3/31/2026 "Fast, Lightweight, and Great for Huge Log Files with Excellent Syntax Highlighting" 5/5 What do you like best about Notepad++? like best thing about Notepad Plus Plus for me personally is like it's really fast and lightweight it opens in an instant doesn't ever slow down my system ever and when I'm working with like really big files and lock files since I am working with Technical Support of networking devices the log files can go up to 15GB right and like any normal other editor would just hang and freeze but this works really fine the syntax highlighting is really great and helpful and I like that is suppose supports so many languages without me doing anything extra the tabs make it really easy to switch between the files and do really good work and research and it's simple but has like lot of useful features that make it really easy to use Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Notepad++ is much better than the normal Notepad that comes with Windows laptops by default. It has some really useful features—for example, you can keep text in a Notepad++ file without saving it, and the next time you open it, the text is still there. Its text search feature is also very strong: it can count the number of appearances, show the total instances in a file, and even search across all the files you have open at the time. What do you dislike about Notepad++? I think there are a few features that could be added to Notepad++ to improve it and make it even more useful. One idea is that when I open a text file, it could display the text in different colours. For example, most of the normal text could stay in one colour, while words like “Error” or “Failed” could appear in red, “warning” could be shown in yellow, and words like “successful” or “completed” could be in green, and so on.
